That 'temporary' stand is still up somehow. I seem to remember at the time, Mileson smugly offering to replace the unused terrace at Palmerston with a similar stand as if it was the Sudtribune. Gretna fans were unbearable on the bebo as well (The most 2007 sentence possible right there), seemed to chat a lot of shit about Palmerston despite the fact they played in a rickety hovel. It's the auld boy fist pumping on the stand after the third goal like it was an Istanbul derby that does it for me. I had so much bits of rust on me from boys slamming the rickety tin roof on that terrace. That Queens team for the second half of that season is probably my favourite for the number of absolute boys on that team. Fat Dobbie, Shaun O'Connor, Stevie Murray, pre injury Jamie Adams, Eric Paton etc. After getting bodied so much by them the previous 3 times, it was so sweet to finally ram it up them and really kicked off yet another great escape. That being said a part of me does miss the animosity seeing as Annan seem to know their place as our unofficial reserve side.

I think 'Mid Mornings with Mugabe' has a nice ring to it where Mugabe has a light heart chat with various guests about the evils of the white man and cricket.

They were tidy enough without being particularly incisive and probably gave us enough time to get organised by being so slow to move the ball at times. Not sure whether the start just us not really knowing what to expect, but we figured them out as the game went on. If we played them again, I'd still say we'd beat them most times. We aren't ever going to pass teams off the park but whilst we are on the subject, I did hear in the Terrace Podcast that we create the most chances despite having one of the lowest possession stats in the league. Yet again dispelling this 'right way to play' shite.

Kerr's loan has been a terrific move for both parties thus far. He largely looked a cut above a lot of the defenders in this division so far, certainly in our team, the most composed player that isn't called Stephen Dobbie on the ball. Despite the criticism received on here when it happened, the decision to punt Dowie and Higgins has largely been justified so far. The back four defend corners better and actually look like scoring from them too which hasn't been the case since Durnan left. Martin has largely been protected which hopefully can build his confidence back up Fortunately for us he's probably needing a full season at this level to iron out the little mistakes that would get punished in a better league like the odd slip here and there, along with last week's penalty. But for 19, he's certainly the brightest defensive prospect i've seen in a while. Kane, you can take it or leave it really, he's a handy option to have but he isn't worth bringing back that strange midfield diamond/433 just to accommodate him or get ahead of Dykes/Lyle on form. Even Old Man Dobbie is doing a better job of closing down in the last fortnight with actual scoring as well. Personally I'd rather use a loan on a player that we will use more regularly like a winger seeing as Danny is presumably dead and McFadden probably won't last a full 90 or be able to do a midweek double header. Alternatively a central midfielder that is better for breaking stuffy teams down than Rankin/Jacobs.

I think he had a tough gig that he did very badly at, IIRC he seemed to come in quite late on and had an upwards task convincing people to come on board with less money and the reputation of the club at a very low point. But as a manager with a reputation for signing diamonds in the rough but oh boy he had a shocker. In that season, Robinson and Higgins (At CB) are the only two players that made a positive contribution whilst Nicky Clark would prove his worth the season after, then you have the permanently crippled Kevin Smith and Marc McCusker, old wrecks like Mark Campbell, Alan Reid and Tam Brighton and actual dross such as Stephen Simmons and Scott McLaughlin. He had a window to fix the lack of goals and he signs Sam Parkin, who wasn't a dreadful footballer by any stretch, but in the previous 6 seasons had scored 23 goals in 148 games so it was asking a lot of him to carry a team from the drop and despite him being joint league top scorer with 6. Additionally he had a chance to fix a defence that really just needed a left back but he signed John Potter from the glue factory on a free. Somehow despite the low talent level of the team we seemed to be somewhat competitive in a lot of games, and the way results went safety never seemed totally out of reach. It was the ridiculous number of late goals that was just horrible, a quick count on wiki shows that we conceded 28 out of 64 goals in the last 15 minutes, which a chunk of that comes down to a lack of leadership, poor tactics and fitness. He also never really trusted any of the younger players that turned into ballers the next season except out of necessity. I don't think he's necessarily a bad manager, look at his work at St Mirren and Queens Park, but circumstance and his own failings contributed to a shambles. He was another one like Chisholm who never got his jotters when he really should have (Though we probably couldn't afford to sack him). Didn't we offer him a new deal before he walked?

I don't like using a cup run as the basis of judging a manager seeing as there is a very high level of good fortune involved compared to 36 games a season . If Chisholm wasn't following 2 straight seasons of struggle fro his two predecessors and a culture of very low expectations he would be crucified for finishing 5th in 2008/09 (joint on points 8th place and 5 off the playoff) with extra money from the previous cup run and prime Dobbie if he did that now. David Rae's total loyalty to him now looking back is baffling, you give him a budget to be title challenger and yet you keep him on despite him failing miserably to do so, no wonder we almost went under.

1 excellent season at a lower level surrounded by a very strong team ≠ coming up to 4 and a half seasons of dominance at a better level with often inferior teammates/coaches.

It's fine to say that a team was very good, hence why the vast majority hung around for at least a season afterwards, but they just aren't legendary (Apart from Derek Lyle for obvious reasons). To put Lee Robinson in the same bracket as the people in the HoF and Stephen Dobbie is just insulting to the entire concept.

Yeah it was essentially a Spanish Meadowbank built for a bid for the Athletics World Championship in the 90s (Which it didn't get), it then tried and failed for 2016 Olympics and finally Atletico took it on.

As much as I'm enjoying my 2-0 start (already got 2016's win record matched) the new TE rules do make Jason Witten a lot more useful than he has any right to be.

Atletico after what seems like an eternity have finally moved to their new stadium which seems to have went down a lot better than expected, apparently they still need to do some cosmetic work on it but I do like that they kept the old stand so it has some uniqueness to it.
