  1. They were on paper solid signings that failed to live up to the expectations and were gone by January so these injury affected spells plays very well into the Raith to Queens curse narrative. None of the last 5 signings lasted more than a season. Putting it on par with the Watford Manager or the Hogwarts Defence against the Dark Art teacher as a poor career choice.
  2. I have a couple of concerns if we were to go for him... Firstly - there is the makings of a curse with players signed from Raith Rovers. The current streak of terrible signings off the top of my head goes Grant Anderson, Ryan Conroy, John Baird, Stephen Simmons and Mark Campbell (Further examples welcome). The watering hole isn't just poisoned, it's Flint Michigan mixed with Chernobyl levels of contaminated. Secondly - He hasn't scored a goal since October, Joey Barton was still at Rangers, Donald Trump was an outsider candidate, Raith Rovers were in 3rd place in the Championship. The impact of a single season with Gary Locke can not be emphasised how detrimental that could be. If you can see beyond those massive red flags then he's a good signing to rotate with Lyle. If I were to rate it with 1 being the reanimated corpse of Stephen Simmons and 10 being Dan Orsi, i'd give the move a six and a half
  3. Also Stevie Aitken seems to use as many media opportunities as possible to tout himself for every job going rather than some noble effort to keep the fans informed. They also haven't signed anyone yet so it doesn't really make much of a difference. Outing that Martin was about to sign for Queens before the deal was confirmed made him look rather unprofessional as well.
  4. ^^^ Double Word Salad It was the besty of times, it was the blursty of times
  5. Even the Guardian isn't exactly Corbyn friendly. The amount of out of touch Comment is Free articles is staggering, no wonder their begging messages are falling on deaf ears.
  6. Even if he fucks up and May comes back with a crushing majority. The sight of those c***s and the snake wing of the Labour Party squirming has been an absolute treat.
  7. It'll be because Robinson has a popular Instagram account called 'The Modern Day Goalkeeper' where he shows how technically sound he is with his feet and hands. Which obviously he is and it looks impressive for footballer skill account. Though it has been the fairly boring things like set pieces, setting walls, communication and in the last game, standing up that has been his main problem. Besty will of course be quick to note that Robinson despite being almost 3 years older has only played 13 more games than Martin throughout his career.
  8. Of all the weird stuff that has happened recently, Scott Robertson's career is probably the strangest. An utter jobber at Queens, goes down to Stirling Albion gets them promoted to the second tier and then gets strangely signed for Partick Thistle. After leaving, he transitions from an industrious (shit) midfielder to a centre half and now apparently the Cairnryan Cafu. Football is bloody stupid at times.
  9. I think you tend to get under scrutiny when you go 3 months without a win. When you go a round of fixtures without a win it might be more than confidence. It was an issue of quality, being tactically found out and poor recruitment by not having any depth at all. I mean we had Mark Millar sauntering about midfield and Jake Pickard attempting to comprehend the concept of football. Grant Anderson playing like he saw a ghost. It was absolutely the right decision to get rid of them and bring in Rankin and Thomson. Joe Thomson was the best player not called Stephen Dobbie in the second half of the season.
  10. Nobody chooses to join a club on a two year deal to 'compete' for a starting spot when he almost certainly could have started at various other teams. It is exactly the same as last summer when Robbo wasn't joining Queens to compete with Jim Atkinson or Robbie Thomson. The big difference for Martin now is coming from a team where they'll give up a lot of shots on goal each game to a side which should be less so whilst I doubt it'll be much of a massive change, some players tend to look better when they are under siege a little bit more. There can be no doubt that the team being built is a Naysmith side with a rather young defence with Martin (assuming he starts) being the oldest at 28. On paper promising signings.
  11. Adams kept on coming back despite having his career totally derailed by injury coming from his 2nd or 3rd spell here. The fact he took two years out and has just came back to this level after not long ago playing for Wigtown and Bladnoch is testament to the guy.
  12. Baird plays with a style that rubs people up, its not pretty but he wouldn't have had a lasting career if he didn't play like he did. I doubt he's particularly bothered whether people want to spent their energy booing him or most footballers when they play at an opposition ground. As for Robinson, the same antics were there 4/5 years ago and nobody was complaining then. He's an alright goalkeeper whose flaws are much more prominent at this level. He makes the ordinary seem difficult and the extraordinary seem easy. He is this seasons Queens team personified, with that mix of flashiness, nostalgia and mediocrity. I'm not doing cartwheels for his departure but if we do in fact get someone better then fair enough.
  13. We'd be delighted to welcome any Sonhamers on board. We do our bit in losing important games to keep Dumbarton up and being the only team in recent history to lose a cup game to them and you contribute by giving us all your good players. A fair swap IMO.
  14. So you're telling us that we've signed a goalkeeper, that it isn't Craig Samson and he actually isn't a proper diddy keeper.
  15. Scotland managed to get a shock win in a friendly against Sri Lanka down in Kent by 7 wickets. Matt Cross and Kyle Coetzer both getting centuries. They play them again on the 23rd as part of Sri Lanka's champions trophy preparations.
  16. Speaking of appalling human rights. The Luzhniki stadium in Moscow which will host the 2018 World Cup final and the Confederations Cup is basically finished it's redevelopment getting rid of the track mainly. Before After
  17. Gunning would bring that outstanding combination of being a solid central defender, P&B box office value and the potential to kick off at any given moment. For all of those reasons and more. Count me in.
  18. He was probably the only reason Raith had any shot of survival. Though I'm concerned that his injury record will probably mean that he will only build up hope of a competent defence before going down for 3 months and ensuing Lee Robinson doing Lee Robinson things.
  19. There was a stretch in around March where Dykes was out wide and Dobbie up top on his own. He was definitely out wide at Dunfermline away during that run and possibly the Morton televised game.
  20. I wouldn't go far as pretty well, and I wouldn't go as far as saying they are awful. They've played football to a level that gets a shrug of the shoulders.
  21. Hey now, we signed Robbie Thomson and Darren Brownlie from Cowdenbeath and look how well they have worked out.
  22. Would that away top be fine against the likes of Falkirk and Raith, it does seem like it's not necessarily that different from their home shirts. I don't have a problem with a loud away kit, IMO the more garish the better for maintaining cult value, (See Scotland away tops) but the grey with Neon is so Yer Da at the gym. You have to properly commit to making something that looks truly out there.
