  1. Aye, yesterday at full time was great. Veldman coming over to applaud but standing behind the players seems a deliberate decision. He wants the players to receive the credit. I was also very encouraged that one of the first things he said in the post match interview was that we weren’t good enough. He obviously sets himself and the team very high standards.
  2. We both had a free week after being papped out the league cup
  3. Was really hoping he was a striker from some random English team like Stockport or Fleetwood.
  4. I really like Williamson but he definitely needs a run of games so I understand why a loan is being considered. Don’t think he’s featured in any of the league cup games and Veldman seems to prefer Liam McLeish. Still like to think Williamson will play a part for us, though wether he stays or not we definitely need to bring another striker in.
  5. The players did overachieve and for the majority of the season they were brilliant and gave us some amazing moments. However there can be no argument that the performances over the last 2/3 months were horrendous. I do believe some of this was down to Owen Coyle’s refusal to change anything even when it was blatantly obvious that teams had sussed out our game plan by then, but some of the players have to have a look at themselves and ask if they played to their full potential. I dont agree with dishing out personal abuse to players but I can totally understand the fans (myself included) frustration at a pathetic performance against a team we had already beaten 3 times. We aren’t “plucky” amateur QP anymore. These guys are professionals and with that comes a certain minimum expected level of performance.
  6. In fairness there’s been plenty of duds with brilliant highlight reels, Luis Longstaff for one. But I am excited about Hepburn
  7. I’m like a broken record, but I would 100% start Williamson, preferably up top with Shields in a 442. I feel our system has been figured in the last month and we only just beat Cove and while our 2nd half performance against Caley the following week was very good, our 2 goals came from a set piece and a (granted perfect) cross into the box. In open play we seem terrified to shoot despite scoring a shitload of goals this season. Henderson has been Incredibly “meh” since joining from Hearts and rumours of McPake’s honking attitude seem to have more than an element of truth in them. I would start Healy as other than his atrocious dive against Raith, I thought he did quite well and at least tried to make something happen. As mental as it sounds I wouldn’t be too against the idea of dropping Savoury, probably for Jarrett. Savoury has all the ability in the world but when he isn’t on it he’s a passenger. 2-1 QP. Tommy Robson double and a Stephen Eze OG.
  8. A few weeks ago we looked at the 3 upcoming home games against Cove, Caley and Arbroath. Win those and we would be in a tremendous position (already top but you get my point). It’s been our record against teams in the bottom half of the table that has put and kept us top of the league. Win on Friday and it’ll be another indication of just how mentally tough this team are. For every defeat (occasionally pumping) against Dundee, Ayr or Morton we’ve bounced back with a win against Accies or Thistle or Raith.
  9. I’m encouraged by the way Arbroath played (or didn’t) for 75 minutes against Morton. If our attacking players are in the mood I can see really taking advantage. And it pains me to say it cos I loved him at QP, but I really hope we have someone running at Ricky Little. He looked very leggy against Morton and we have the players to do the damage. As has been said, I’d have Healy on for Henderson from the start. Henderson hasn’t necessarily done anything wrong, but he’s not really done anything other than miss a few gilt edged chances. He doesn’t look like a natural wide player. Having a 6’7 player attacking the ball from set pieces is a massive asset too. He scored a belter on Saturday and was very unlucky with one in the first half too. Arbroath 2-1.
  10. Said exactly that at half time. As poor as we were a lot of it was down to Caley pressing us high and we struggled and just launched balls to Shields. Even our movement in the first half was poor which is very unlike us, but I think a lot of that was down to Jack Thomson being out and then Mal (pray hes ok) going off injured. 2nd half was night and day and big Eze’s header was a cracker. The mentality of the team in the 2nd half was one of the most pleasing aspects though. Would’ve been easy to panic and if we hadn’t won it would’ve been “Are QP bottling it?” but the players shut up (myself included) those who doubted their ability to turn it around. Buzzing.
  11. Delighted with that performance, particularly the 2nd half where I felt we really stepped it up and thoroughly deserved the win. Defence were tremendous and it was a very promising debut from Oakley. As usual, opposition fans are singling out Mal Boateng’s performance. The guy is an absolute Rolls Royce and Is one of the most comfortable on the ball players I’ve ever seen at QP. Also stunned that some people don’t think it was a penalty. Even Bullen said he didn’t have any complaints about it. Stonewaller.
  12. I’ll be absolutely gutted if we get kicked out but if we’ve broken the rules then we’ve no one to blame but ourselves (or more specifically some pr1ck behind the scenes who can’t read rules) I thought the team were excellent last night. Henderson could’ve had 2 before Thomas scored a lovely goal then Williamson’s goal just summed the guy up. Never gave up chasing the ball, barged the defender out the way then under the keeper. Love the guy. Good luck in the next round Caley
