I see Miss Ryan still bitter and twisted tonight.

delighted for David and good to see he has given some of the u20s a shot. Not had a lot of time to work with them but it shows the professionals that David and the team are.
after the 3rd goal I thought our spirit went a bit but it will be back
Got called away but at least I’m having a good chuckle at the comments here. Not paying people and conspiracy 101 abound but personally David will be good for the morale there.
sticking by Hutts was 100% the right thing to do

yes nothing says professional like getting rinsed five- scud on your own patch by your most bitter rivals.

Wow IQ’s have really dipped on this forum.  The license application process has been closed for nearly two years and no one knows when it will be reopened or what it will look like. So even if we had got the floodlights and we had the best ground in the west it still would have made no difference we still could not have got promoted.  I  think that it’s prudent as a club we don’t spend a large amount of money on floodlights if we don’t need to at this time. And when it is eventually opened up we will be applying when we are ready to.

why wait to put up the lights oh intelligent one?

You are, We were already in the process of preparing to get the license before the door was closed. and how is our ground not up to scratch? the only things missing are the floodlights and you are well aware why.  Not many teams have three covered terraces, . we have disabled access/cover/toilets our club house and facillites and dressing rooms are up there with the best in the league.  The infrastructure for the lights going in are in place.  once the door has been reopened it will not take us long. to get it.

as you just said- you don't have floodlights, ergo the ground isn't up to scratch.

    apology accepted.

If playing Hutton in the final wasn't embarrassing enough for Darvel, the statement that followed was just unbelievable that someone in charge of a football club thought that was appropriate!

Then, to sack a manager just before a cup final because he is on a huge bonus... That's a different level of scumminess

The statement in response to the Talbot fan questioning the accessibility and facilities in their away end was peak Darvel.

The point is why should they be changed. It seems like the true inhibitor for WoSFL teams progressing is the closure of submissions for licensing. If they were open then Beith would be going all out for that. Until such times, the route is crystal clear. Win the league and the gate suddenly opens...until you reach the next gate that is.

I might be doing Beith a massive disservice here but they don't give the impression of a team who are all that bothered. It's not like their ground is up to scratch right now and the stuff about ground ownership was all a bit keystone cops.

Can’t fathom why Talbot won so many games they were rank in both games against Clydebank.

Is it just living on the name?

It's a pain in the arse when your team is seen as a big scalp but are playing poorly. Everyone you play fancies their chances and raises their game. Talbot have had to work very hard to raise their standard after the terrible start. I think that (as Andy mentioned) the standard of the league isn't that great overall. Beith are the best of a fairly run of the mill bunch.

Revolt at Darvel. Tony mac and John Gall were arguing at the side of the park. Gall went into changing room after the game and said Tony and his backroom team are sacked with immediate effect. The players are threatening not to turn up to the Talbot game on monday

    Comedy gold.

No home team, no away fans.

  8. Talbot v Pollok today was one of the best games I've seen at this level since the 3-3 game at Newlandsfield.

Both sides were 100% up for it, the ref was a bit of a cock, and there were goals and defensive mishaps aplenty. Nothing like the end of season dirge I was expecting.

Looking forward to seeing the 3 penalty decisions in the highlights, and Mick's 1st which was class.

Teams that can be directly impacted by the LL Playoffs, the majority of which are dependent on their Tier 6 champion club doing them a favour. Then get get to sit on the sidelines for two weeks to see if they're promoted/relegated/status quo

Licensed Tier 6 Champion A lose out on promotion
Licensed Tier 6 Champion B lose out on promotion
    West Premier 13th Relegated
    East Premier 13th Relegated
    West First 4th Promoted
    East First 4th Promoted
    West First 13th Relegated
    East First 13th Relegated
    West Second 4th Promoted
    East Second 4th Promoted
    West Second 13th Relegated
    East Second 13th Relegated
    West Third 4th Promoted
    East Third 4th Promoted
    West Third 13th Relegated
    West Fourth 4th Promoted

But apparently we skip past all that, and the unfairness of the system. So that a 2nd or even 3rd placed team that failed miserably in a title challenge, get their participation trophy/lucky loser spot.

There's more to fix with the pyramid system long before amending the criteria for a LL Pyramid Play-off spot.

I'm missing the relevance of any of this. If teams need to wait to find stuff out then that's what they would have had to do in the event of a full compliment of licenced clubs qualifying for the play off. Nothing actually changes for them.

Btw you can also apply the ripple effect to the other sides. Teams getting a lucky break because Beith don't have a license doesn't say much for the set up.

Also, multiple issues can be addressed simultaneously. This issue doesn't have to take a ticket at the post office counter and wait it's turn.

So you want to promote failure🤷‍♂️

If only one team at moment gets chance of promotion, then, only winners of top leagues should be given the chance of promotion.

They're not a failure if they win the play off.

The horse has bolted a long time ago for the principles you are basing your argument on. Your logic means that only champions can ever be promoted but football at all levels is littered with scenarios where non-champions are promoted or allowed a qualification path of some sort. You get teams that finish fourth in their leagues become European Champions and have a look at how Scotland ended up at the last Euros. With that in mind I'm sure a team that's runner up in the WOS getting a shot at the LL playoff isn't going be setting any more relaxed a precedent than already exists.

Would reckon costs are even higher on a hybrid pitch.

I'm sure there is some money to be made but I would think this is overstated at times. I don't really blame clubs for trying it but I'd be gutted if Talbot turned round and came out with this.

  12. Meanwhile in the Championship, League one and League 2 a team that finishes 4th can theoretically leapfrog a team that finishes 20 points ahead of them in second via a playoff with little or no complaints from anyone. The reason it's not an issue is that ultimately it's decided on the field of play rather than the admin department. Folk really need to re-evaluate their priorities if they favour teams getting a free pass because "paperwork".
