And there lies the problem ! It's 2024 not pre millennium most of us are trying to brace the new not sit around the coal fire telling our kids how it used to be and lying to them it's still wonderful winning the junior cup and it's live on the telly with a language no one speaks .
Yes, having an engaging history based on generational affection is a massive drawback. Nothing worse!
Fucking hell.

What? The fact that we keep pumping you?
The fact it you appear to regard it as an achievement of some note. It speaks volumes about your mindset.

You need to stop mentioning this for your own credibility on here. A genuinely toe curling wee-guy comeback.

Ha, you're probably more upset about this tournament being on than I am about us going out of it.

HT 1-0. Darvel finished the half well but we're doing ok.

1-0 Talbot, absolute screamer.

Fair play to Darvel. Ice cream van in the away end. Fancy a cone but a boycott is a boycott.

I suspect you may be proved right but I'm still in a jaunty and upbeat frame of mind about the situation.

In my opinion Pollok is one of the elite clubs because of their successful history (sadly not in recent times), their stadium, large average crowd, well known outside our level of the sport and that, including assets, is a multi million pound business.
Unfortunately over many years we have seen disproportionate amounts of money (for whatever reason) come into clubs at our level of football, usually unsustainable & for a limited period only, but never the less it causes a financial ripple effect across almost all the other clubs (wages & fees).
We are now at the stage where our competition has a team near the top of the league that don't have a ground and have almost no support but are very close to winning the league...How do the elite clubs compete with these short term football/business challenges. Clubs like Pollok need to develop a business model to remain competitive in this ever evolving business environment.
My concern is that the people running Pollok and those still hanging around in the darkened corners advising (some with questionable agendas) and or exerting influence are the very individuals who are 100% responsible for both the historic & current fiscal situation that Pollok find themselves in. To be clear the current execs don't have the professional background or experience to run a business. Why are these individuals allowed to continue running the business of Pollok...it seems to me that it's a poorly experienced clique propped up by some members who don't want to upset their friends and or family members who are in charge, despite the fact that those in charge have completely failed (including possible investigations into potential fraud). I appreciate that there is a significant degree of apathy among members however if changes aren't made in the very near future Pollok is going to end up with an average team and no decent ground or at best playing "cage football"
The executives should do the right thing, be honest about their repeated failings and step down, and those supporting them should take a good look at the execs and ask yourself would you let them run a million pound business you owned...put aside your personal relationships with them and think what is best for Pollok in the short, medium and long term.
It looks like we have a good management team (potentially a great management team) who are slowly building a great squad and team but all that blood sweat and tears could be a waste of time and money if the business of Pollok doesn't completely reset itself. There can be no doubt the implications of keeping the current execs will be detrimental to the future of Pollok...why...they have had many years of failure which is only now coming to light.
Our business is not only dysfunctional but is now also toxic.
Gents put your egos aside break up the cliques and do what's best for Pollok.
More to follow.......Tune in next time for more vague, verbose pish...

Has the new fella planted the Junior flag atop the pyramid Reichstag yet?

The crumb of comfort I'm holding onto is that we can't be as poor as last week. I think we'll make a game of it and win on the night. Hopefully it will be enough.

can't stand when a good thread gets entangled in the same nonsense every couple months.
I actually thought it this was the thirty page Junior Takeover bonfire thread. You're right about not infecting innocent threads with pyramid pish tbh.

He's right mate. You can't talk about professional embarrassment then advocate finishing 2nd in your league yet going up just because you have the right boxes ticked or more resources than the club who finishes ahead of you.
I, for one am against this notion of promoting the highest placed licensed club! Or as it should more commonly be known, the "Make sure Clydebank get up even though they're not good enough" rule
I don't think Clydebank have ever been the highest placed team with a licence. Talbot would have had the pleasure!

I'm saying "random draw" there because that's how the 3-way Play-off is conducted to determine the home field advantage and order of the ties.
And you're the one complaining about a team getting a free hit at promotion, while advocating for team(s) getting a free hit at promotion.
You also said "random team" in a post before that.
As for your second paragraph - no I'm not and I'm not sure how you've arrived at that conclusion.

There's nothing fortunate or free hit like about winning your league and getting promoted. You almost sound like you're happy with a play off.
everyone and their dug favours straight promotion, that's a given I'd have thought.
I'm pointing out that the current imperfect system would be improved by letting the highest licensed sides in all divisions enter the LL playoff pot rather than sending our apologies from the WOS because our champions don't have their shit together enough to get a license again.

It's not a free hit for any team. Teams play out an entire season and you want to boil it down to what amounts to a one-off game with a random draw on home field advantage.
How about focusing on greater promotion to the Lowland League instead of re-arranging deck chairs.
saying random repeatedly does not make it so. You're also predicating your argument on me being a fan of the current playoff and promotion set ups; I'm not, and those are a separate issue to this.
If my team won the league in the WOS I'd very much regard it as a cracking stroke of luck if they were allowed to bypass the minefield of a game against a decent quality EOS opponent (in any format). I say luck, but it would actually be tinged with a bit of professional embarrassment at having dodged a bullet that other teams before didn't.
