  1. Going out and having a drink with mates/colleagues after a bad day at work? Outrageous!! They should have been sitting at home in a darkened room listening to Coldplay showing some respect IMO.
  2. I dont see what Premiership club would have taken him. Certainly he was never going to upgrade from Kilmarnock. Hibs, St Johnstone and ICT didn't want him, who else would take him? If Lennon had been punted then maybe St Mirren, although the last thing St Mirren fans probably want after Lennon is another moron with a 'philosophy'. Ross County are probably the only ones who would have been interested, but there's no telling how long Adams will be there. His high profile due his gobshitery has tricked many fans into thinking he is a good manager (aka the Joey Barton effect), but clearly when club owners have sat down and looked at his record they've seen that he isn't very good. Morton was a great job for him to get, a decent sized club with owners stupid enough to give you excessive amounts of money to blow on players. He had over half a season to save them (or at least show an improvement) and he seems to have just made things worse, having spent said excessive amounts on diddies. He's always got the insurance of next season though. If they stay full-time next season and Dunfermline go up then they will win the league next season and his stock will have risen to a respectable level.
  3. Shiels is actually doing better than I expected. He is an appalling football manager.
  4. 17 wins in a row is good going, and considering he missed a few matches against the likes of Lithuania his win streak would be even higher. Stating the obvious I know, but it's somtimes easy to take for granted how good he is. Just need to appreciate him while he's still playing.
  5. He's got a pretty good draw really. In Australia you'd rather be in Nadal's half than Djokovic, and I'd fancy Murray's chances against Federer more than against most of the other players he could have been seeded to face in the quarters. Whether he is fit enough/sharp enough to make the most of it we will see, but he couldn't have hoped for much better.
  6. It was a ridiculous comment, he may as well have said 'today is a Saturday' as it had as much relevance as the fact it was St Andrews day. I would excuse him though as he had clearly been up all night stressed out his nut, he looked absolutely horrendous while giving that interview.
  7. I think it also depends how you got your grades, if you got 5 good Highers in fifth but they were achieved by attendin g an excellent school/having private tutors/having helpful and brainy parents then they might find Uni harder when they are left to stand on their own two feet. Whereas if you've gone to a bog standard school and perhaps from a less affluent background you're more likely to have the tools for coping with Uni. I didn't do that great in fifth year and had to work my arse off in sixth year to get in to Uni, but I then found Uni a bit of a stroll. I think mainly because I was studying a subject I was good at and enjoyed.
  8. Currie is dreadful (and he looks like Quagmire out of Family Guy). Think he likes to think of himself as a bit of a cheeky chappy, but just comes across as a creepy weirdo. He's even worse the couple of times I've heard him filling in on Off The Ball, on that show he feels like he's got licence to be even more of a 'lad', but fails terribly.
  9. It's always been the case that people will believe any old s**te that's written down, just look at the Bible, or The Sun.
  10. I think he would have taken that draw if offered, just to avoid the scenario that Federer has.
  11. Yip, the wishing of a Happy Father's Day to dead dads is well and truly under way.
  12. Similar to this, when flying the people who are on their feet the second the plane hits the tarmac to get the stuff out the overhead lockers and try and get off the plane first. You're still going to have to wait with everyone for your luggage in the airport you cretin. On short flights where you only have hand luggage then there is at least a tiny bit of logic to it as it might get you out the airport a few seconds quicker, even then it still annoys me though.
  13. Both of those would be pretty shit signings for a club like Everton. Maloney has had a good season, but he's 30 and isn't going to improve Everton in either the short or long term. McManaman has looked lively in a couple of games but despite the hype he looks a pretty standard pacey wide player who is effective for a few months and then becomes pish once defenders realise what he is about.
  14. Wise decision, on current form it's hard to see him getting past about the 4th round anyway, no point slogging it out for a few ranking points and risking his chances of competing at Wimbledon where he has a real chance.
  15. Owen Coyle in general, there's something really irritating about him when he talks.
  16. Up until a couple of years ago the criticism was the opposite, that he performed well in the Masters events but couldn't beat the same players in the Slams. In the last couple of years he's clearly changed his training and schedule to peak at the Slams, which he has, but it's had a negative effect on his Masters performances. While he would obviously like to win more Masters events I think he would be foolish to change what he's doing at the moment as it's seen him reach the last 3 slam finals. It will be hard for him to ever reach world number 1 because of how weak he is on clay (relatively speaking of course), he would need to clean up over the grass and hard hard court stretch, which with Djokovic around isn't going to happen.
  17. If Murray plays you would have to think GB will have a good chance of getting back into the World Group as Britain has a few decent doubles players at the moment. If you assume Murray will win his two matches then they should be able to scrape a 3-2 win against most countries with a victory in the doubles. Read a few comments on the BBC saying that Murray shouldn't get straight back in the team
  18. Yip, and a look at all his recent matches against Federer and Djokovic in the Slams and Olympics shows that, he's taken the first set in all of them. I think against lesser players he comes out and just tries to get a feel for how his opponent is going to play, if they come out firing (like the Gasquet match) he'll up his game, if not and he's able to beat them at a cruise then he'll do that and just play within himself. So when he plays someone who comes out strongly he'll go behind early on before upping his game and pulling it back. Against to the top players he's learned that he can't afford to do this so comes out strongly from the off.
  19. I love the idea of some loser on the internet giving one of the most talented and succesful athletes in the world this kind of advice. If only he would employ you as his psychologist.
  20. Murray was saying yesterday that the actual court itself is faster than Indian Wells, the difference is that in Miami the high humidity slows the ball down. Not that this excuses the tournament, it's not as if these conditions come as a surprise, they should have a faster court which compensates for the conditions. Agree about the tennis, it's no surprise that there are no big hitters in the semis. Murray in particular has been a bit more like the 'old Murray' where he's more passive and just waits for his opponent to make a mistake, particularly against Cilic. Should be a good match with Gasquet tonight.
