I’ve seen some of the other theories to it and they don’t really hold up. Like the pitch is maybe better that end….for warming up? It’s better for stretching on? They’d prefer to attack a plowed field in the first half? The pitch is in good condition. The weather, it’s more sheltered that end? Nope. Maybe we’ll get to ask someone at the club once they break cover on Friday to ask for season ticket money.

Dowds effort against Morton that came off the bar is a prime example, I’m not sure most folk in the SRE knew it hit the bar. Had they done, it might have raised the atmosphere a bit. Other managers have talked about the benefit of playing that way in the second half, it can give the team a lift and can “suck the ball in to the net” Brown or whoever has decided they don’t need it, at a time when the support are displaced. There is no clear reason why. Maybe because the away form is better, they are playing as the away team in some weird Gary Caldwell style act. It’s not really changed anything since it’s happened either.

Strapp and Crawford are out of contract at Morton. There will be other players we could be using from the Championship released as well. We wont though. I don't think there will be any forwards available from the Championship or the arse end of the Premier that would be worth a gamble. I expect we will be signing Clark to replace Albinson.

Aye, I can understand why. I've had a season ticket for years, I even had one when I was working abroad and made one game a month and the club was on its arse. I've missed maybe 3 home games this season, two I managed to see via stream because I was away and one I watched on Tv in the house because I couldn't face going and watching from the Somerset road end. The view from the SRE and the fact the club feels a million miles away from the support just now added with, its been a hard watch post covid means I am considering not buying one. The only reason I have just now is, if I didn't get one, I would go to less games if we continue being rotten to watch. £280 in the summer is forgotten when you are heading to watch an inevitable defeat in the pissing rain as opposed to logging in to an app to fork out £22-24-25 on the day. I'll end up renewing but this is the first season I have ever thought - Maybe not.

Technically they tried to say the job did not exist in the UK any more so I was effectively redundant. With only one person impacted, there is no requirement for a consultant period. Effectively, here is a months wages, Ta Ta.

We went out of the window with Tomlinson and McGinley as cover for full backs. Both had question marks over suitability. Reading and McCallister had question marks over quality. If we were East Kilbride, we’d just sign another four. We can’t afford to carry players so not signing duds is key. We need to go in to nest season with 2 full backs that are either better than or have the potential to be better than the two by the end of the season.

He reminds me of Steve Cooper we signed from Airdrie. he’d been out for months before we signed him, didn’t play for us all season and when he left, he said he was surprised Ayr signed him because when he ran it looked like he was using a skateboard. He retired after leaving Ayr and died shortly after. At least they will have got a decent look at him in the time he’s been here and make a call on signing him for next year. He probably needs a good pre-season in him somewhere.

Most of your reply’s to me are condescending or snide where you have either read them with an agenda or just haven’t understood them and go on the attack. It’s boring. To your first point. You have basically agreed to my initial post about it. So in the case of Reading and McCallister, is there grounds to release the players based on the last 3 months, if the players get mid-yearly reviews? Reading is injured so you’d look at the last 6 months. No. So if they were going to release them, they would have to justify it to them in a way they accept. In real life, I got a new boss who wanted me to leave to allow her to employ someone in her office. I said no. She then tried to force me to leave, I didn’t. I went to a lawyer and left a very happy man. My performance was good. My performance as a basic employee was flawless with my time in the company. If I wanted to leave, I would have. I didn’t and I’m not one for being bullied. Other people did just leave when they were told and didn’t realise they didn’t have to.

I’m not sure if this is a grudge thing or not but here goes. As detailed in the quote I posted, new legislation brought in, means that a player who has been at the club for more that two years has a right to appeal if they are not offered a new contract. This is a legal process. This means that the club has to have grounds to NOT offer a contract that isn’t simply Mathie saying to the player - cause yer shite. Otherwise, because of the law, a player could take the club to a tribunal. So any reason would have to stand up to scrutiny. Or the player might know themselves that it is time to move on and a conversation is had. This happens outside of football as well. If there is a workforce reduction and you are told to leave, you have the right to fight your case as to why you are losing your job rather than someone else if you feel you outperform someone. At no point did I say that you can no longer free any players ever again.

Hamilton have either persevered with him and he’s came good, their style suits him or league one is his level. He showed very little with us that we are the right team for him. Paul Smith hasn’t played much, if you look at his stats, he’s probably not met the criteria for a contract renewal. They can easily justify releasing him at the end of his deal. Amartey might want to leave and is willing to part company with the club to benefit his career. If a player is shite and doesn’t make his targets, like tackles won or pass completion etc then they are shite and can be released. Part time will be different. I can’t remember the Inverness player but Inverness released a statement as to why they did nothing wrong in releasing him and ticked all boxes.

Billy Dodds last season, employment law has kind of caught up with football at a full time level and you have to have grounds for releasing players now. You can’t just say, your shite, get out. There has to be performance targets in place and levels to be met. Much like with Bullen, dreadful watch for the most part but if you were to look at his achievements on paper, we probably sacked him at the right time. First season, kept us up, target met. Second season, finished second, reached quarter final, target overachieved. Third season, sustained period in the bottom three, sustained winless period, target not met and he’s punted. Most folk would have had him out the door after the Thistle games.

I had a mate who couldn't drink much on nights out so would always ask for Budweiser and was also tighter than two coats of paint. He would drink approximately the neck of the bottle and always take a drink in the round. The bar staff would clear tables and leave all these bottles that were 3/4 full. He would then not buy himself a drink on his round because he'd have 6 bottles in front of him. It lasted about 4 nights out before he was told to buy his own drinks. I worked with a guy who won an ESSO branded England top (He's Scottish) buying petrol and wore it out running every day because it would be a waste to bin it. He could have also not taken it, but it was free. He split up with his wife and wore a pink fleece she left in his house rather than give it to her. I worked with a woman who filled a flask every day with coffee out the free vending machine in the break area, an old school one that sold tea, coffee and soup. She would take it home to drink at night.

He doesn't speak. He needs to be a lot more vocal and keep his defence right. He looked a bit lost at the goal from my vantage point of an entire pitch away. He showed good hands a few times but I think if we signed him for next season, having him and Mutch could be problematic. Maybe Dohan will be part of the Aberdeen clear out.

He gets stuck in and gets involved in things which is different to a lot of the players we have that just seem to get bullied. He will maybe get in to one good position a game and have maybe five half chances, sometimes less. He can be really quiet in games. That maybe has to do with support or service but he's not likely to get 15-20 goals a season unless we play Airdrie 10 times. I want to keep him and have another credible option to play when he doesn't work out.

Dreadful game, really scrappy. Morton are a gang and we had to be to with the players we had. Looked a draw from kick-off as both teams seemed happy to boot it hard and then play head tennis. With all the changes we made, we had 4 centre halfs on the park and still lost a goal from a set play. Letting Morton score plays straight in to their hands and it looked like being one of those days. Amartey was barely used in the first half, he had the ball three times and created something with all three including the cross for the goal. Second half was much the same, really scrappy and in the end it was just two teams trying to keep the ball out their own box. Thought Musonda had his best game at left back, Sanders played well, I don't know about the goal but he barely put a foot wrong. Dempsey was good in midfield, Mckenzie battled a lot but chased his first touch quite a bit. Chalmers took a kicking but did ok. Amartey didn't show much in the second half. Dowds and Bryden put themselves about a lot but no one won second balls from them. Draw was probably fair, hopefully it is a case of turning defeats in to draws rather than wins in to draws tonight.

He played three centre halfs and four full backs in one game. all our defenders on the park from kick-off. Thats what I was meaning.
