    I don't think we're missing anything.

If he stays, unless there's an unprecedented injury crisis or he suddenly finds an as yet undiscovered high level of performance that changes JG's opinion of him, he'll be lucky to find a place on the bench.

That is of course, if we manage to sign a couple more centre halves.

I agree, he's unlikely to see much game time but he'll need to be paid if he stays. I don't know how much of his salary Morton covered last year but if there aren't any clubs prepared to take him then he stays.

  2. Still reckon McGinn had something to offer but he was never going to be first choice. Shame we never got to see him for a send off.

Mullen and Mackenzie were good players for us but not unexpected.  In any normal times Mullen would've got a new team without any hassle. I really hope he can get something sorted. Sad to say but Mackenzie might be done as if money is tight for clubs I'm not sure many will want to take a gamble on a player with his injury history.

Hopefully the other players can get something sorted. I reckon a lot of players will be lost to the game because of the current situation. If the lower leagues get mothballed then some of these guys are in trouble. It's a shame.

Andreu had the odd moment of skill but was worse than a man down when he was having a poor game, would definitely get rid. I'd agree that we should just try to resign Flynn, Hladky and possibly Wallace. I suppose it might be worth keeping Cooke or Mullen if we're going to be short of strikers to sign given the circumstances.

There have been far worse players than Andrey over the past few years but he hasn't done enough for me.

Wallace looked good the games he played but by the time we're playing again he'll be 35 (possibly going on 36) and only played a handful of games in 2 years.

Flynn deserves another deal no question. I'd keep Mullen too but Goodwin clearly doesn't fancy him.

  4. If Coulson had been playing in a team with an experienced defence and winger in front he'd have probably been ok.

Unfortunately he was thrown into a defence who'd never played together and where Jack Baird was the only player from the previous season. The boy didn't have much of a chance.

With all these interviews with Stubbs he says that he takes some of the blame, then goes on to blame other circumstances. The fact that in this interview the only mention of his signings is when he says that the other players didn't like them, rather than admitting he signed guys that weren't up to it, is telling.

He also bemoans the lack of a signing structure, that probably has merit given we brought Macpherson in, but it doesn't absolve him of blame for the signings. Jack Ross was able to sign decent players, as was Kearney (outside a transfer window!).

  5. Goal difference taking a doing here. Heaviest defeat of the season, though, so we've got a bit of wiggle room in the GD column.

Still, shite all round. Hearts game is utterly fucking massive.

We don't have any wiggle room any more. Were on -18, Hearts and Hamilton both -20 and both have scored more than us.

We'll be bottom on Wednesday if we lose, no matter the score.

What annoyed me about today's game is that Celtic didn't need to get out of 2nd gear. They'll have tougher games in training. I don't mind losing at Parkhead but let them know they're in a game. Get in their faces, shut them down. There was a point today when Eduoard was literally walking with the ball at his feet.

  6. We weren’t great tonight and probably would’ve lost that game by at least a couple earlier in the season. Happy to take away a point. I don’t think st Mirren did enough to earn the win to be honest - they didn’t create anything clear cut despite being the better side pretty much all night.
I think this is right. We had shots from outside the box, a cross that hit the post, but at no point did we carve St Johnstone open.

It's amazing how things change so quickly. After winning at Motherwell we were looking above us and hoping to pull away from the bottom two. Fast forward a week and Hearts have had two good wins (albeit one in the cup) and Hamilton have turned over Rangers at Ibrox and we look to be struggling again.

Wallace was good, Chabbi's header was decent and a bit unlucky but he didn't have enough time to show more. Thought Andreu and Morais were the wrong subs.
  7. Murray seemed like a good appointment at the time. I have some sympathy with him though, we'd just been relegated, shed a lot of shite from our squad, there was loads going on in the background with trying to get the club sold too.

That was a lot of upheaval that anyone would've found hard going.

That said, his signings were shite, he appointed a nobody as his assistant, then threw him under a bus when the club wanted Alex Miller in.

To his credit he knew he wasn't up to it and fell on his sword.

  8. Obika had a tough shift up front on his own for weeks on end. Some games he was good, others he struggled to get involved which wasn't really his fault.

He's got 11 for the season, 7 in the league. I think 12 would be as good a return as a bottom 6 team is likely to get. Even 10 would be reasonable.

Jakubiak looks alright too. Chabbi might not get a look in.

  9. I can't see why people get so excited about either situation no. A bigger club offering a far bigger salary come in for Ross. Absolute no brainer. Whether Kearney 'worked his ticket' or not I have no idea, I dare say there was some blame on both sides. I wouldn't blame anyone for trying to get a few quid from their employer that they thought they were entitled to though.

Football is cut throat and had Kearney started poorly this season there would have been people calling for his head.

I liked both Kearney and Ross. I was happy to see Coleraine win the league cup and I'd be happy enough to see Ross succeed at Hibs, obviously not against St Mirren.

St. Mirren fans outraged at £25 when they charge £22 is a laugh.

I suppose people have a limit somewhere though, if we're happy to pay £25 then why not £28, if £28 why not £30? I understand that clubs set their prices for the season and generally don't deviate from that but £25 for a midweek game when the weather is dreadful isn't really enticing.

I have some sympathy with Livingston, and indeed all the smaller clubs, as the vast majority of their income comes from gate receipts and the clubs all operate on pretty tight budgets. If they reduce it to £20 would the number of people going increase that much to offset the cheaper tickets? I'm unsure.

That said fans are entitled to spend their money however they want and you'd imagine there must be a ceiling at some point. I remember being at Almondvale in 99/00 when we won the first division. Folk were outraged that Livi were charging £12 to get in, I remember it because it was also highlighted in the fanzine SQ. So it's more than doubled in 20 years, albeit we are an a division higher.

  11. Both sets of fans will probably feel a little disappointed not to win. I thought there was a fair bit of excitement considering the conditions were really tough.

I like the look of Jakubiak he's big and strong and he's busy as well. Thought Durmus was good again and McGrath looked quite handy at times.

Hopefully Hodson's injury isn't too bad, that's the last thing we need.

  12.  Nice trying to tip toe around the facts here. He was literally pushed out the box by Andreu despite already having safe possession of the ball.
If anything it was a free kick to us, but he didn’t even signal play on/advantage just completely ignored the whole incident.

One of many many baffling moments from the ref.
Like you say, baffling. I'm not sure how much impact the push had. He had a hand on the keeper's back but I'm not convinced it was a shove. Either way it's a free kick to either Hamilton or St Mirren. He waves play on and Hamilton score. Admittedly we have to defend better.

The one decision that really riled me was Moyo's elbow. It's a red card all day long. To not even book him after he'd booked Obika (which with my black and white specs on was soft) was a joke. Famewo's eyebrow was opened up.

I thought Miller's foul on Flynn was unlucky, he's tried to block to the shot, it wasn't a nasty one. Probably a yellow, definitely not a red. He probably should've been on a booking for when he grabbed the ball earlier in the second half right enough.

All that said, we were lucky to escape with a point. A great save from Hladky and a dreadful penalty. We didn't test Southwold at all.
  13. Goodwin's team selection and tactics in the first were absolutely atrocious.
Junior on his own up front against a back 4 that quickly became a back 5. Bringing Hodson on was fine but putting him in midfield and keeping Flynn at right back!
Then a like for like substitution with Obika on for Junior.
The refereeing performance is going to take most of the heat, but that was fucking awful from the manager.
We are bang in this relegation fight and for the first time this season I am properly fearful.
Agreed. I thought taking McGrath off was odd, but Flynn should've been back in the midfield if you're making that sub.

I'm not sure the formation works for us. We managed 1 maybe 2 shots on target from open play, that's against the team who was bottom of the league.
  14. 100%.   I would love him to stay.  He clearly didnt get on with the itallian manager they brought in to fill the Stevie Clark hole when he left for Scotland.
There are ways and means.  I'm assuming we want to keep him.  If he wants to go, Killy want him back, then fine.  We value our best defender at an appropriate price.
The value of something is determined by how much someone is prepared to pay.  If they want him, then they'll pay the going rate.  18 months left on contract, potential relegation candidates, one of our stronger performers, hugely experienced...
450-500k i would assume as a marker in the sand.  If not, then he stays and will give Goodwin 100% as a seasoned professional.
It gets curiouser, I've got a Kilmarnock supporting mate who just told me that apparently we offered Broadfoot to Kilmarnock for a fee. Dyer was happy to take him but Fowler said no.

The whole thing seems a bit odd.
  15. Not really, he's a highly rated 18 year old and the best youth prospect at the club so it's pretty natural there would be interest from down south. Just because a few of our fans decided to write him off when he was 17 doesn't actually mean he's shit.
I never suggested he was shit. Far from it, I think he's a very good player. I thought he did very well in difficult circumstances last season.

It seems odd that it's come from no where and considering the fact that he hasn't played this season. Have they been scouting our reserve games? It's possible. Going on loan is presumably to see if he's good enough. It seems unusual to do that rather than have him go on trial.
