  1. And he's a horrible wee goblin, whereas Jack is an absolute dreamboat so could surely demand even more.
  2. I'd imagine it'd be considerably more. I wouldn't be surprised if English Championship clubs were paying half a million a year to their managers.
  3. Jack Ross is entitled to speak to anyone he likes. First and foremost he needs to look after himself and his family and teams like Ipswich will offer a massive hike in his salary. As he showed with Barnsley if he doesn't feel the offer is right he won't go. So I'm not resigned to him leaving just yet. Davis going is a sore one, both Baird and Mackenzie play better when along side him, the improvement in or defence was down to him coming back from injury. Good luck to him, hope he gets a good club down there.
  4. Good luck to him, he deserves the interest and I wouldn't begrudge him any move to a bigger club. I'm not convinced this is the move for him right enough, he has a young family which isn't easy to move that distance. As someone said before if the likes of the Hibs job became available I'd be more worried.
  5. If we beat Inverness this weekend then I reckon we'll win it at Glebe Park. I can't see Livingston taking maximum points in their next three games. They go to Dumbarton and Dunfermline, and are at home to Morton.
  6. I've always thought Eckersley was one of our team who could definitely make the step up. He's strolled through most of the season. Would hope that we keep MacKenzie too. I reckon Davis is good enough to make the step up, MacKenzie has played a good level before too, and Baird will keep improving.
  7. I'd imagine it'll depend on who we can bring in. I have no idea if Morgan back on loan is in anyway likely, but if it were to happen Todd would find it really difficult to break into the team, with us having Flynn, Magennis, and probably Hippolyte who can all play on the wing. It's a shame for Todd as any time he's played he's looked good, so unlucky with injuries. Who knows what would have happened had he been able to get a run in the team. Him an Queens could be a good fit. He's definitely good enough to do well at this level if he can stay fit.
  8. That's a decent signing. Any time he's played for us he's looked good, so unlucky with injuries. Hopefully he can get a few games under his belt before the end of the season and come back to us ready to fight for a place next year.
  9. Agreed. We've not had a sticky spell all year, any time we've been beaten we've won the following game. If any other team was 12 clear with 8 games to play we'd all be saying it was over.
  10. Yardley was brilliant, I absolutely loved him when I was a kid. He gave everything and was also a good player at that level. I wonder if Yardley had been fit for the whole season we had in the SPL if we'd have had enough to stay up. We lost Lavety and Mendes, and Yardley was out for a massive chunk of that year. That's tough for any club to deal with. As for Lavety, it's definitely 3 syllables. The stress is on the second syllable 'la-VE-ty'.
  11. https://www.stmirren.com/news/club/all-news/1608-falkirk-match-rescheduled Falkirk game switched to March 24th. Good news as it gives us more time to prepare for the Dundee Utd game. 3 games in 6 days would have been a lot.
  12. True enough, doesn't bode well for Mark Hill then if that is the reason we've signed him. If indeed we have actually signed him.
  13. Seems a strange signing if true, I thought he'd retired due to an injury?
  14. We've actually got a good record of appointing managers from the lower divisions. There's a guy working wonders in league 2 that might be worth a look.
  15. I take your point, but whatever we've been doing we've been doing it right. A new manager will bring their own way of training etc, whereas I imagine Fowler would continue where Ross left off. Appointing him until at least the end of the season would be sensible I think.
  16. If Fowler doesn't go with him then he should definitely be offered the job.
  17. I agree with most of what you say, but when we've played badly (Morton and Dunfermline away, Dumbarton at home) we've invariably lost. There aren't many games we've won where we haven't played well, despite the protestations of every team we've turned over.
  18. I'd expect Fowler to move with Jack Ross if I'm honest. I'm sure there was an interview with Fowler where he'd said that when he came to St. Mirren it was because he wanted a number 2 job and not a manager position. That might have changed now though right enough. Too early to speculate about new managers I think. I'm always skeptical about statements like 'final shortlist of of two', how many times have we been told that an appointment is a definite, only for it not to happen? It's happened with O'Neil to Scotland and McInnes to Rangers in the past couple of months.
  19. Anyone taking a job in the English Championship is taking a risk, the turnover of managers is staggering. My gut feeling is he'll stay too, but I think that'll be more to do with Barnsley going for someone else. Look at Robbie Neilson, he left Hearts who were 3rd in the Scottish Premiership to go to MK Dons who were stuggling in league 1 in England. That said he lasted just over a year and got the bullet so maybe serves as a warning.
  20. But Barnsley will have better players than us and be able to attract better players than us, which was my point.
  21. If Barnsley want Ross then I'd imagine he'd go. Massive hike in salary, opportunity to work with better players. I'd be surprised if he turned it down. I'm still not convinced that he'll be the man they want mind you. Their in a real relegation battle, from their point of view Ross would be a risk. I reckon they'll look for someone with more experience.
  22. I'm happy enough with the Hippolyte signing. He's fast and strong and that goes a long way in Scottish football. I actually didn't realise he was as young, seems to have been about for a few years. Possible replacement for Morgan when he leaves?
  23. I think he'd be a good addition to the squad. He wouldn't be in my starting 11 though if he were to sign.
  24. Haha. Fair enough. I was more meaning supporters of other teams. Who put us out the Challenge Cup in 2000??
