  1. If Barnsley want Ross then I'd imagine he'd go. Massive hike in salary, opportunity to work with better players. I'd be surprised if he turned it down. I'm still not convinced that he'll be the man they want mind you. Their in a real relegation battle, from their point of view Ross would be a risk. I reckon they'll look for someone with more experience.
  2. I'm happy enough with the Hippolyte signing. He's fast and strong and that goes a long way in Scottish football. I actually didn't realise he was as young, seems to have been about for a few years. Possible replacement for Morgan when he leaves?
  3. I think he'd be a good addition to the squad. He wouldn't be in my starting 11 though if he were to sign.
  4. Haha. Fair enough. I was more meaning supporters of other teams. Who put us out the Challenge Cup in 2000??
  5. Exactly. They pumped Hibs 4-1 at Pittodrie about a month ago. Yesterday has no bearing on our league campaign, nor does it necessarily show a massive gulf between us and Premiership teams. It was a disappointing performance and result away from home against a pretty decent Aberdeen side. If we do go up this year hardly anyone will even remember who put us out the Scottish Cup.
  6. He could have left for nothing so £20k is better than hee haw. We didn't get a great deal when he moved on, but pretty sure when he signed his extension there was a gentleman's agreement that the club wouldn't stand in his way if a bigger club came in. That looks like a decent move for him as well. Glad he didn't end up at Ibrox.
  7. I suppose we'll need to wait and see, but Samson was great for us in the top flight, and we never replaced him after he left. Smith is only 22, so was a young player who couldn't break into a good Aberdeen side, he's dropped down a level to get games and has improved as a result. He's ready to step up a level even if we were to miss out on promotion. Reilly and McShane have both improved a lot since the start of the season as well. As for the McShane debate, he's been an excellent signing. I don't see how anyone could deny that. His set pieces aren't great, in fact they're rubbish. I reckon this makes a lot of people think he's had a bad game because they remember the few poor corners/free kicks that he's hit.
  8. Black and White Army on Twitter alluding to Ryan Flynn, who has been released by Oldham.
  9. I could see clubs being interested in him certainly. If we don't go up I wouldn't be surprised to see him move to the Premiership.
  10. Surely not. We wouldn't let Buchanan go only for Davis to move in the same window.
  11. Thing is, the guy has has a couple of kids, I imagine he'll have a mortgage as well. If he moves on from us he'll definitely need to take a pay cut. Financially that might be difficult for him. Now I'm not saying that's his reason, but at 34 it would seem his career is only going in one direction. He could take a wage cut now, or a wage cut in six months. No brainer really.
  12. I'd move Buchanan on to be honest. He's not terrible but he's not as good as the three other centre halves we have. Sutton should probably go as well, although I'm a big Sutton fan and think he still has something to offer. I'd be amazed if Duffy isn't moved on too. Who knows if the guy has anything to offer or not.
  13. He actually played quite well in the game against Dunfermline in Paisley as well. He missed a really good chance, but other than that his all round play was good. I wouldn't swap him for any striker in the league.
  14. Not to get into an argument over semantics but you're misrepresenting me. I was replying to a comment that appeared to question Sheils' when he said he got abuse about his eye at St. Mirren. Sheils said he was abused at St. Mirren, despite not hearing it myself. I believed him, because it's believable. I would believe it had he said it about any club. I also added that there 'is always one idiot'. That's not really the same as saying 'St. Mirren fans probably abused him'.
  15. Neither have I, but it would be naive to think that no St. Mirren fan has ever shouted anything about it. I don't think there are fans of any clubs that can claim to be holier than thou.
  16. He probably has to be honest. There is always some walloper who thinks it's either funny, or will get under a player's skin. Like it says in the article, he gets it everywhere. and I've heard plenty of shouts from St. Mirren fans over the years that have made me cringe. I did find it strange that he singled St. Mirren out after saying it happens at all clubs. Maybe it was particularly bad when he's played us, but I don't remember anything being said at the time.
  17. Striker Ross Stewart to go out on loan to Alloa. Decent move for him as he needs to get games. There's definitely a player in there so hopefully this will help him kick on.
  18. I'm happy to admit that my first choice would have been to bring back MacPherson. I even think I indulged in a 'it gives me no pleasure to have been right' after a couple of particularly bad defeats. Also happy to admit now that I was wrong (very wrong). Anyone who has called for Ross's head this season needs to have a look at themselves.
  19. You jest, but to be honest there are probably a few players in your squad that could still do a job. Jack Ross also has a decent record of getting a lot out of players. I'd be quite happy to see Loy back for a start, although the signing of Mullen might have ended any chance of that. Hippolyte is inconsistent but can cause teams problems, Sibbald always looked a good player. If either of these guys came in I wouldn't be disappointed.
  20. https://www.equality-network.org/our-work/policyandcampaign/sport/football/ Why haven't St. Mirren signed up to this yet. I essaged the official twitter account weeks ago about it. Admittedly that's probably just one person, and someone who doesn't make decisions, but seems poor from us when 29 out of 42 have already signed up. Edited: scrap that, it appears we have. Maybe the website was't updated.
  21. He misjudged a header on the half way line in the first half which let John Baird in, other than that he was excellent. Strolled through what was a difficult game. I don't think it's a coincidence we kept a clean sheet with him in the team
