The Queen of the South thread
Jan mosniack replied to qos_75's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
Remember that gubbin well. This was of course well before smart phones existed. Jubilant Killie fans thronged the social club celebrating their great escape. Word then filtered through that Clyde (I think) had scored deep into injury time thus consigning Killie to the lowest tier in Scottish fitba. I almost felt sorry for them! The game featuring the assault by Brannigan was earlier in the season at Rugby Park which we lost narrowly. -

I was at the game and Derek Cook was indeed playing for Queens that day. As I recall after being red carded and on approaching the tunnel Jim Fleeting said “keep on walking son you’ve played your last game for Killie”. An admirable response to the behaviour of a thug. So the story of him learning about his dismissal in the press the following day is pish. -
Is that big generic boozer still next to Broadwood?

Well that's entirely up to AJ. A manager by definition has to get the best out of what's available. -
Goodbye Falkirk xxx

A lot made of the Falkirk crowd w**k thing but I have to say regular attendances of 4.000 for a piss poor team is very impressive. We get about a third of that. Pleased you got relegated tho. -

Fair point re the keepers but I really do think Martin is in the same bracket. Agree with you about Stirling, defo has something about him, hopefully AJ will get the best out of him. There is a player in there. -

Callum Antell, canny think o emdy else. Worked in Dumbarton for a while and watched a lot of Sons games. Was really hoping that Aldo and Andy would be a success. Martin has been a huge disappointment and Stirling blows hot and (mostly cold). Shame. -

Think Stephen has now scored a hat trick against a team from all four divisions. Must be some sort of a record. -

Weird game today, very difficult to sum up. Guess it must have been hugely entertaining for any neutrals present. Big relief when the fifth went in. One thing is for sure Dobbie has serious competition for the POTY award. What a start for Harkins! -

Short memories guys. Remember a couple o years back a wee livewire called Smart Osadolor looked quite tasty against us? Many Queens fans were were advocating that we sign him immediately on the basis of one performance in a friendly. Last I heard he left Clyde on a free to join Queens Park. A cautionary tale perhaps. -

Thought Lyndon improved considerably towards the end of last season. Sadly, yesterday he was a waste of a shirt. -
No sure about the misty eyed old farts bit but a particular favourite of mine was "who do you think you are kidding Mr Steedman? Best o luck on Saturday guys.

Cheers Stu, will give it a go. A few ex Queens players likely to feature and guaranteed a party atmosphere regardless of the result. -

Always enjoy your input MT. Articulate and informed. Very surprised to learn about your infrequent away forays. Got to the stage now when expectations are so low the main driver for me is the social aspect. Keep the faith.
