  1. So you'll be able to give loads of examples of how Verstappen has shown a "lack of class" (whatever the f**k that means) as champion then?
Loads of examples? You must love winning an in internet argument.

For me, it's the way he speaks to his team on the radio, and in interviews he gives. I must think he's pretty immature.

But as I've said loads of times, it's now at an irrational level of hatred.
  2. 1) No more 'ridiculous' than the ending to the Saudi Arabia round before it, which wrongly put Hamilton in the box seats.
    2) Ending the entire season under a safety car because Latifi binned it ten laps before the end and some dud lapped cars couldn't unlap themselves in time would also have been 'ridiculous'.
    3) Your big mate Lewis profited from equally 'ridiculous' scenarios such as the last lap at Sao Paulo in a previous title win.
There's no comparison with the Saudi ending - that's just clutching at straws.

I'm no expert, but I listen to those who are, and throughout the season there were plenty of incidents that went for and against.

Both teams moaned at different times but the general take from the f1 community was that some decisions went for verstappen and some went for Hamilton. Verstappen pushed the rules to the very edge, and often at times overstepped the mark. That's not my opinion, but the general view of drivers and ex-drivers.

It's quite clear that the p&b massive have an unhealthy obsession with Hamilton - and taking great delight in him losing. I've got no issue with that, but don't pretend that's not what's going on.

I've openly admitted my hatred of verstappen. It's pretty irrational but I think he's shown a lack of class as champion.

I couldn't give a f**k about Hamilton. He's clearly done as he's not got that competitive edge this year, especially in a shit car. Russell is showing him up and that should be a sign for him to retire.

Verstappen will walk the title this year as he's head and shoulders above the competition. Hopefully Ferrari can continue their improvement next year and we can see as closer fight.
  3. Glad to be back at Somerset and in glorious sunshine! The game was a bit meh.  Thought Dipo had a stinker, summed up by his pen miss, but big Charlie was the hero. Still cant get over folk who dont know the "rules" of the League Cup. So many streamed out at FT only to try and get back in when they realised it went to pens if it was a draw
Anyone know why penalties in the league cup don't go to sudden death after the first 5?

What is the fucking point in this? You either have the bonus point or not. There's no advantage that I can see.
  4. It was only a title contest owing to the farcical, Mercedes playing dodgems 'circumstances' that were overlooked earlier in the season, as well as complete nonsense stewarding interventions like in Saudi Arabia. He was the quickest driver/car combination in 2021 by a clear margin.
He does love a moan but other than Alonso - who isn't fighting for a championship - I don't think Verstappen is worse for that than any credible front-runner.
Russell is excluded from that comparison until he stops being a fawning supplicant of Team Lewis.
They both got away with dodgy decisions throughout the season - but the ending was ridiculous.
  5. This thread depresses me at times......
Who would you prefer we sign??? There is a total dearth of players in Scottish football just now.... Practically no CBs are available or un signed.... To sign a lad from arsenal as young is a risk.. But it's ARSENAL.... who are on a total different level to us....
There must be something about the lad... Give him a chance [emoji848][emoji848]
Who would you prefer Broadfoot??? [emoji12]

Got to laugh at the negativity about signing the boy from arsenal who seems highly rated by them, in so much hes trained and been in and around a matchday squad for their 1st team. Yet the same people cream themselves over non league jouneymen. Wild take tbh.
What the f**k are you pair seeing?

There's absolutely no negativity around this signing. Some folk are getting far too excited and others are showing a bit of realism.

Every Ayr fan will be happy with this signing (and hopefully the other couple of loans we can get) - but folk get overly hyped and expect the same from everyone else.

  6. Is there anyone else that hates verstappen?

I didn't mind him at first but they way he whines constantly really fucking bothers me. He also won his title in farcical circumstances.

I'm literally wanting anyone but him in every session/race (inc Perez, as it's not a red bull thing).

  7. Yes, I think for most of us who've been watching the team for 40+ years would appreciate that our current status is pretty much as good as it's ever been in terms of our position in the pyramid and the off the pitch advancements.
Apart from the couple of good seasons under Barr, we've pretty much always been situated between about 18th and 24th (whether that was 2nd or 3rd tier)with some very good times in among that and also some very bad.
If we can consolidate as a mid table to challenging for the title Championship side, then that's got to be seen as a major positive for the club, especially if it's giving us hope, attracting more support (younger generations) and ultimately progressing the club year on year.
As I say, all good for me.
I agree with all this except the positivity you have that our crowd will rise.

It seems no matter what we do, we can't get punters through the gates.

I fear that McCall was right, in that he took the team pretty much as far as we can go. Even with shankland banging in belters, loads of attackers, and being up the top for a concerted period - the crowds didn't really rise. So, so depressing.

But it's my team so I'll keep supporting when I can.
  8. Whichever way you try and slice the test match stats Root > Kohli.
A few years back the media were pushing the narrative that root was up there with kohli and Smith in terms of best in the world.

I'm certain folk on here were very critical of that take but in the last two years root has taken his game to a whole new level.
  9. Did anyone see the Kyrgios interview last night?

Looked like the interviewer was constantly trying to bait him to get a reaction.

Hopefully Norrie can do the business today, looking forward to it.
My missus, who has no interest in any sport, let alone tennis, was raging with kyrgios after that interview.

I didn't see it and I think it's the first time in 20 years she's started a conversation with me about sport.

I just want an umpire to deal with the wee petulant c**t.

Domestic abuser as well? I hope he gets booed to f**k now.
  10. Joyce looks ridiculously one paced & wide open to shots, but is obviously supremely fit, bangs hard & can go all night at a rate most Heavyweights just can't follow.

    It was a weird fight.

The German threw a few massive shots and they landed hard, but there was very little heart in that hammer.

Joyce deserves a decent pay day against a top British heavyweight. But he's not threatening anyone serious. In
  11. I have a feeling that had it been Kyrgios that had hit the ball into the crowd, he would've been disqualified.
    Not a chance
You’ve got to be joking? Kyrgios has routinely been let off with things that others would have been penalised for today
    Absolutely this.

I started off wanting kyrgios to win and go all the way but that was a fucking disgrace.

Wimbledon have shat it with him.

Hopefully they take a good look at themselves, issue a statement, and then deal with any future nonsense accordingly.

I couldn't believe that he only turned half the crowd against him with that display.

Outrageous player, and I've agreed with some of his takes before, but that was mental.
