  1. Rangers were superior for 75% of that game. Sensational energy, aggression and purpose which knocked RBL off balance right from the start. A super performance to add to the list in this competition's k.o. rounds.
I don't think they were that dominant.

They took their chances early on and rode the emotion at the start of the game perfectly. Rbl were caught in the headlights.

But it didn't last too long.

After that, rangers struggled to get out, and it became more backs to the wall (especially in the second half).

Rbl weren't good enough to create clear chances, and the ones they did they squandered. The save from McGregor epitomised that.

I'd say rangers deserved the win but weren't in control.
  2. Went to my pit after the whistle lastnight, but just on the football, if you remove the tense semi-final atmosphere and commentators trying to ramp that up and just look at the game itself, Rangers were in full control of that game and never, ever looked like going out.
    Really?

I thought rangers started brilliantly and deserved their lead.

But in the second half, with Aribo off, Leipzig controlled the game. Wave after wave and eventually they scored.

At that point rangers couldn't get out their own half. The goal comes from a free kick just pay the half way line. You just don't see teams pumping the ball into the box from there in modern football (at that level, anyway). It was proper old-school desperation and it worked a treat.

But for me, that goal was very much against the run of play.
  3. Good save from McGregor.
And then a great finish from Nkunku.
it looks like there is only one winner now
To have it in their grasp and then lose it is the best way for this to turn out.
There's only one winner now. Rangers are done.
I can't believe how much the game turned. Liepzig were finally showing a bit of class, and rangers looked out on their feet.

They've dragged themselves in front here, from a nothing situation.
  4. This is my fear. All well and good saying we’ll sign 3 or 4 and everything will be fine and dandy. Just as much chance of those 3 or 4 being as shite/shiter than the ones they’re supposed to be replacing.
There's always an element of lottery.

Jack Baird came highly recommended and most fans felt we'd get a great defender. At the same time, plenty were underwhelmed when we signed shankland.

    Football is weird sometimes.
  5. Is it wrong that I genuinely don't give a f**k at the moment?

This season got ugly, after what looked like a nice wee run (away wins at Killie and ict where we played well). The last few weeks were horrific and we've scraped it again.

I think bullen deserves time and the off-field stuff looks positive - but f**k me I'm in need of a break from Ayr Utd.

I'll enjoy the ends of the top leagues and tournaments as there's some interesting games in the next few weeks - and then I'm looking for some summer sport.

By August I'll be buzzing again but I genuinely don't care who we keep or lose at the moment.

  6. New whirligig required, but tbqhwy concreting it in isnt needed unless you live on a peat bog.
As long as you dont have tree roots close under the grass you should be able to hammer the sleeve in.
If you start off with a long screwdriver to poke down and check for roots, then make the hole a bit bigger with "that iron bar you have kept just in case".
When you are ready to put the metal sleeve into the grass, get a bit of 2 x 4 wood to protect the top and another fool person to hold the wood while you skelp it with a sledgehammer.
We take the whirlygig out and stick it in the corner when not in use - no issues with high winds and also make your lawn area look a bit nicer.
Good luck getting the old concrete out btw.................

Greenied for 'that iron bar you have kept just in case".
  7. I await the abuse but I actually quite like Murphy as a commentator/pundit - but by f**k he loves that phrase "we don't use the term unmissable, but that was unmissable...".

    Really irritating.

  8. Yup, this is the sad reality in Scotland, and the primary reason why two teams dominate at the expense of everyone else.
Even the Moff, considered a legend by Ayr fans on here, is a local boy who is a Celtic fan from a family of Celtic fans and who as far as I know had no interest in supporting his local team growing up. Far easier to follow the crowd and fit in by supporting whichever half of the OF your heritage leans towards.

Fans who choose to support their local teams do not get the respect they deserve. I grew up in Ayr and remember being ridiculed at school for supporting a crap team like Ayr instead of Rangers or whoever was top of the English league.
I noticed that I got a shit load more credit for supporting Ayr when I moved to the east coast.

In Ayr and Glasgow it was mainly ridicule, with an undertone of 'who's your big team?'

But in Dundee you've got a small city with two well-supported sides and a healthy respect for the more diddy-like teams (although that Friday night at tannadice has given me a permanent weapon against that taunt).
  9. Whilst I understand why Ronnie ain't everyone's cup of tea he is so good I just tend to overlook the nonsense. Cannot stick Trump so all aboard the Ronnie express.
    Why does trump annoy you?

He's basically a not-so-good English hendry. And he's quite funny (the senior masters tweet was excellent).
  10. Folk leaving early after going a goal or two down really annoy me. I've saw some real shite games since I first started going to Somerset on 1998 but I have NEVER left early. A guy I know left on about 85 mins v Hamilton. I told him we'd score and sure enough he missed a screamer
My best moment for this was away to Dumbarton when we were two down and only had ten men.

Step forward Michael rose with a deflected free kick and then a beautiful, on-the-ground mazy by Jamie Adams (maybe, maybe not), and then a last gasp penalty for an unbelievable draw.
  11. Delighted that Higgins managed to dig deep and get the last two frames. Him against O'Sullivan has all the hallmarks of being a classic.
I really have the fear that it won't be close. O Sullivan (who I despise with every fibre of my being), is playing some incredible stuff - and John looks fragile.

    Praying for a miracle.
  12. Flicking through news channels, I still like a wee gander at GB news, and have just caught a glorious interview with the director of amnesty international.

The two presenters lined up the question to back Priti Patel, who has criticized the BBC for being xenophobic against Rwanda (and her plan).

The guy absolutely owned them, pointing out that it was the Patel plan that was xenophobic. Neither presenter could accept this, and kept deflecting back to their rehearsed line (how the f**k they thought amnesty would back them up with this is unknown).

They had one quote (which they brought in as a proper zinger) from the UN last year praising Rwanda. But yer man just pissed on their chips and pointed out the quote was about something completely different.

You could almost hear the editor groaning in the background, but I didn't get to see how it ended as the channel had a technical glitch!

    Never change, GB news.
