  1. Emdy gone to see Dylan these past couple of nights? If so was he any good? More importantly what time did it start?
  2. You'll have a great time! Fantastic live. You certainly will, plus the fact it's a Friday night and it's the Barras. It's gaunnae be fuggin' magic.
  3. 9.30 they go on sale and I’ve a meeting to attend round about then. Just have to make my excuses for being late. On the plus side, managed to get one for Edinburgh so there’s that if all else fails.
  4. Bollocks, got caught up in a meeting a work. Looks like the pre-sale are sold out. f**k it just need to get in quick on Friday. Failing that, pay over the odds to a tout. Don't normally but this is the fúcking Manics we're talking about.
  5. I was at the PG gig & the sound was fine. Dunno what happened last night and yes, it was a distraction. That aside, though, thoroughly enjoyed it. I did actually expect Just Can't Get Enough; it's about the only staple from the Vince Clarke days. Walking in My Shoes was a particular highlight as well as Personal Jesus, Enjoy the Silence, I Feel You & Black Celebration. As for Dave, I reckon he just wants to be left alone every now & then to shag himself.
  6. Depeche Mode last night were absolutely immense. Outstanding gig. Dunno about the new venue though; I’d say an arena where you’re hearing what comes from the stage bounce from the back wall and echo behind you fuzzing up what you’re hearing from the stage is not one with good acoustics, no matter how clear the sound may be.
  7. Peter Gabriel at They Hydro tonight. 25th anniversary of the tour for So. I saw that tour at the time back in 1987, which is 26 years ago. Still, really looking forward to this one as he's magic in concert. Plus, first visit to the new venue.
  8. Did Maol Cheinn Dearg up near Loch Carron a week past on Saturday. Glorious weather for the most part but clouded over as we reached the summt. Good old time but the midgie bites are REALLY kicking in now.
  9. Two fantastic gigs. Both well worth the money and good value as both were over two hours long. However, there was an inordinate amount of utterly drunk punters at both gigs. What is it about Scotland that some folk can't "enjoy" some entertainment that they have to get to a stage where they can't remember what day it is? ETA:- Have to say, though, they weren't spoiled for me; it was just something that got me wondering.
  10. YYEEEHHAAA!!!! Was dancing around the kitchen at lunchtime after I opened the envelope then stuck on Wrecking Ball so that folk on the rigs could hear it from Bridge of Don. TWO WEEKS TODAY!!!!!
  11. Not yet. Got my booking details to hand just in case but nice to know I'm not the only one concerned about this.
  12. Rush at the Exhibition Centre last night were fúcking ace! One of the best times I've seen them.
  13. Echo & the Bunnymen and James on Saturday night. There are worse ways to spend forty quid.
  14. In the car park of the Black Dog pub round the corner. I realise this is too late for the Biffy gig but bear in mind for future reference.
  15. Depends what media outlets you look at; those in the US have it the other way round.
  16. Three gigs tomorrow night in Glasgow all worth a mention. There’s My Bloody Valentine at the Barrowlands showcasing their first new album in over 20 years; Status Quo at the O2 Academy, the classic “Frantic Four” line-up playing Glasgow for the first time in over THIRTY years; and, sadly but boldly, the legendary Wilko Johnson at the ABC as he plays his farewell tour. To anyone going to any of these you should have a great time. Me, I'll be at the Barras.
  17. Saw them at The Garage in Aberdeen on Monday. It was a last minute thing as I'm kind of "it's not The Stranglers without Hugh Cornwell". However it was a great gig. Some tracks I hadn't heard in ages like, as you said, Toiler on the Sea but also English Towns, Down in the Sewer & Tank. Baz Wilde's patter was good as well. "Whose car is that outside with all the Stranglers stuff on it? Yours sir? Nice one! You'll be pleased to know we've autographed it for you. Yes, it's amazing what you can do with a tin of spray paint & a screwdriver".
  18. Correct. A superb work from a very talented man.
  19. No gigs for the rest of the year but got some good ones for 2013. Rush in May & Peter Gabriel in October, both at the Exhibition Centre, then Springsteen at Hampden in June. And, lo & behold, just got a ticket for My Bloody Valentine at the Barras in March. Nice one!
  20. Bit of a surprise about The Promised Land, never realised it was quite so popular. A song I hold dear, mind you. Bloody hell, so it is! There's sure to be something about that.
  21. It's certainly an all-time favourite of mine. If it comes on the radio I actually gasp then stop what I'm doing to sing along. Some of the best lines ever in a song. "Roy Orbison's singing for the lonely, Hey that's me & I want you only" "It's a town full of losers & I'm pulling out of here to win" and the best:- "Show a little faith, there's magic in the night, You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright"
  22. This \/ Honestly, Denji, you'll come out the gig thinking you got a bargain. It's just relentless song after song for three hours non-stop with maximum showmanship. The different set-list is possible partly because the E Street Band are so well drilled. The crowd down the front have banners with song titles on them & Bruce collects them in from the stage then selects a few at random, turns to the band and says "This one" then they launch into it. It makes every gig different. A great memory of this from last time was a wonderful rendition of Incident on 57th Street. The centre of Glasgow was buzzing after the gig so I'd recommend taking the following day off work. Everyone on here who've seen him can vouch for the fact you will be at one of the greatest gigs you'll ever see.
  23. That was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. I'd waited over 20 years to see him & it was worth the wait. The emotion eventually got to me during the instrumental section at the end of Thunder Road. Can't fúcking wait for this one.
