Lol at least you'be extinguised everyone's excitement and anticipation early on

Thought it was for the best. I would be surprised if there is more than one other this week although there appears to be a lot of movement in the market generally as loan deals start to get done in Scotland.

BTW, Rangers were 'difficult' over this Maxwell signing, as usual. I think it was agreed last week but they didn't want to let him go until after the weekend (because they had three games - don't think he featured in any of them), then even though he signed after training yesterday they wouldn't confirm when we could announce it... then just went ahead and did it this morning before us via their B Team/Youth Academy account - really frustrating but not much Ayr can do about it.

I really dont understand why we're signing James Maxwell?

I feel Paddy Reading has been performing well in that position so far this season

Fair enough it will give us more cover and competition in that position, I just hope it means we have up to 5 new faces in total to come in for the main positions that need bulked up.

I wasn't sure either until the Hamilton game. In the system versus Accies the two wide players - Salkeld and McKenzie - were asked to put in a hell of a shift, supporting Tomi Adeloye in attack and dropping back to cover the full-backs out of possession. Hell of a shift. Would expect Maxwell to do a better job than McKenzie in that role on the left.

I agree that getting those 2 Burnley lads would seem on the face of it a long shot, however surely that's the whole point of being a "partner club"

I think it is just an issue of timing. Burnley only had a squad of 14 signed players on Saturday plus six trialists (seven u23 players remained with the first team). Clearly they are going to need to increase that squad of 21 players before allowing too many out on loan.

There was a good article in the Athletic on Monday about there being a lot of transition within the Academy at Burnley - both in terms of players and staff - so probably just need to wait a bit longer until things fall into place.

I know the Morton boys did say one of the big reason they signed was due to Hopkin however I do find it really strange that other than Moffat who was never going to be leaving and Hewitt and Ecrepont who are both youngsters the rest have chosen to move. Hopkin’s man management maybe not as good as made out.

We're only talking Moore, Todd, McCowan and Walsh - it's only McCowan who has turned down a decent contact offer and he's gone to the Premiership. Not that strange, really.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for some of us to be concerned about the direction we’re heading whilst, as Buky said, hoping we’re wrong.

It’s subjective but there’s undoubtedly an argument to be made that we’ve been worse under the new manager. He’s won one league game and I think one cup game. He’s also overseen the utter shambles of the Clyde and Arbroath games.

Our style of playing is horrible to watch and is quite clearly not effective and so far his recruitment has been almost exclusively from one of the only two teams to have been below us in the table.

Again, hopefully wrong, but I’m struggling to see any grounds for optimism.

Was quite clearly not effective... with players Mark Kerr signed to play a different style of play and who clearly didn't want to play for Hopkin. He's just signed three players who have all said they do want to play for him. So that's a cause for optimism.

This must be one of our worst seasons for a long while on the number of individual players been injured

    Sinisola, Houston, Reading, Muirhead, Ndaba,Cameron,Walsh,Moore,Wright,
Chalmers,Todd and Smith that I can think of have all missed games through injury in this shortened season

Not disputing those players have missed some games (but only Moore, Walsh, Houston and Wright for an extended period) but I can't agree this is one of the worst for a long while in that regard.

McCall's whole tenure was typified by the players being run into the ground by January. Mark and Mick actually did a decent job keeping players fit, managing injuries and not rushing players back too quickly.

Loose lips sink ships, you can't blame the lad running the twitter for that as he only does as directed. The leak didn't even come from VoR it came from one of the Bellrock lads.

Yeah I am in no way having a go at Kitty_Boy, he's done exactly what was asked of him. The issue is with the unprofessional outlook it gives when local journos are tweeting about vital information.

Fans want to know ASAP and they found out from a reliable source (VoR). It just so happened it couldn't be confirmed 'officially' until later that day. Maybe not ideal but I don't necessarily agree it is unprofessional.

Its far from unusual in the world of football that things like this are common knowledge before they are announced.

From memory I think it was Kerr, Stewart, McIntyre, Sheerin, Young and Canning.

Canning apparently dropped out of the running by his own choice after being interviewed.

Jonatan Johansson was interviewed and impressed last time round.

Not sure where the idea came from that there could be an appointment before this weekend or even before the deadline for applications on Monday. Thursday next week most likely, all going to plan.

Tell you that good be a genius decision sending him back to Aberdeen, Mark Kerr is fucking Einstein

"It's run its course and its not really worked out. It's not down to us, I know that and Aberdeen know that. We'll move on and bring someone else in. There needs to be more effort for the team".

Anderson didn't suit our system and that increasingly was evident in his application, attitude and, ultimately, his goal return. It was absolutely the right thing to send him back to Aberdeen and anything he goes on to in his career won't change that.

It’s Jim Kirkwoods company who have applied for planning permission for houses , not got sign off yet ( I believe there has been some issues ) David Smith has purchased back some of the car park and it will be included in work with Hub and Offices , Ayr can do nothing with car park as it does not belong to them

There is no planning application to develop houses on the car park at Somerset.

A Proposal of Application Notice was submitted to the Council in March 2019 by Allanvale, which effectively just indicates an intention to carry out pre-application consultation as is required for a Major planning application.

I don't know whether the consultation took place but it certainly hasn't been followed up with a planning application.

It looks like a fall out to me, short and sweet and no thanking him for service etc which you would normally expect.

I'm sure all will be revealed in due course........

Not sure I've ever seen Jimmy Kirkwood at Somerset Park. As far as I'm aware his only ever input into the club was to buy the car park, which averted a financial crisis at the time.

I think all Championship clubs have already confirmed non child season ticket holders will get free access to home streams but prepared to be corrected if anyone knows differently?

I dont think any of them are providing a free stream to kids season ticket holders for very obvious reasons but again if anyone knows differently happy to hear it? We certainly are not providing it to Junior Blues.

Its inevitable that the first people allowed in if restricted crowds are allowed will be season ticket holders. What clubs do if they have more season ticket holders than first restricted numbers will be up to them. No point worrying about it till you know how many tickets are sold and what initial restrictions will be. Aberdeen are doing a lottery draw for their 750 this weekend I saw. No idea what County are doing.

Its absolute pie in the sky to expect a co-ordinated approach from Championship clubs to the service. Thats like saying they should all use the same bank! The SPFL has installed the Pixellot system at all Championship grounds (coincidentally) . Clubs are welcome to use it for the footage and to piggy back their streaming service to provide the stream if they wish (at a significant cost) but at least half the clubs, including Ayr, already live stream their own games abroad and have existing relationships with streaming companies they are presumably happy with. They cant seriously be expected to rip up those contracts so they can take part in a single platform, single price structure, group deal. Hearts charge up to £30 for a match ticket, we charge £18. The chances of an agreed single price streaming charge across the league are pretty remote. At the end of the day home clubs keep the money, its up to home clubs how to price it.

Thanks SD... I'll take from the length of your two replies there is a need for some more clarity 😉

And as far as I'm concerned, Ayr haven't confirmed non child season ticket holders will get free access to home streams.

  13. 5 hours ago, Skyline Drifter said:

What do you need clarity on? The rules are inherently unified because it's all based on what the SPFL allows. The only thing not necessarily unified is the price of it and since officially clubs haven't been given the go ahead to confirm individual match streams will be allowed, they clearly can't publish pricing either.

This is partly an issue of lack of communication from my club, but, for a start, I don't know what the rules are, so clarity on them.

And clarity on whether I'll be able to watch away games; away fans, I presume, will be the last the be allowed back into grounds, so that seems pretty important to me.

I also don't know for certain as a season ticket whether I'll be entitled to stream home games as part of that season ticket if games are behind closed doors. It seems obvious that will be the case, but it hasn't been explicitly stated by the club.

Then what happens when some fans are allowed? Say 500. Then 1000. These are scenarios that some planning could be undertaken and communicated to supporters.

And I know it is absolutely pie in the sky to think the Championship clubs might come together and learn from the fragmented mess of the Premiership and offer something better to Championship (away) fans - single platform, consistent pricing structure etc. but I can but hope.
