  1. Enough to stop things we think are clearly not in the interests of the club. I think what is being suggested is that 51% shareholding doesnt adequately protect us if we are a minority on the executive board and one or more of those individuals is in the pocket of the new investor who may be a minority shareholder. I hadnt thought of that, but its a valid point.
  2. I hadnt actually thought about this before. But you are 100% right. We own the club right now, but what actual control can we exert? That needs to be rectified
  3. My issue with Dundee United, and reason for citing them is that they appear to be £10m in debt to their investor. Now thats all very well and good as long as the investor doesnt get bored and walk away. But I wouldnt call that a subsidy. These are soft loans. We owed John Boyle £11m in soft loans when he put us into administration. I really dont fancy going there again.
  4. I read the Erik Barmack interview with the BBC again today and to be fair, he does talk a good game and say all the right things. However, if there is any truth in the rumour that the offer is £1.5m over 5 years for 50% of the club, then a lot of things just dont add up. Firstly anyone who values our club at £3m is at it. We have 1 player who is worth at least that on his own before we even start looking at other assets and the value of the business as a going concern. Also talk of "not disempowering the Well Society" doesnt square with wanting a majority share. The wording of the interview certainly implies that he wants to work with the WS and allow us to remain the owners of the club and is certainly suggestive of growing revenues through "streaming" our story to a wider audience globally. Whether thats genuine, or even possible or not remains to be seen. Bottom line is we need confirmation of the offer and a chance to examine the small print before we can decide whether this guy is right for us or not. I will remain "healthily sceptical" until he shows his hand. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68790801
  5. I quite like him. He is naturally left sided and appears reasonably comfortable on the ball. He is still relatively inexperienced despite being 25 now, has played less than 100 senior games. I think with a good pre season and the proper coaching he could be a decent CH at our level. He is under contract so we probably need to put the work in with him as others will be easier to move on/replace.
  6. For the record, I think Bevis & SOD both get a much harder time than Casey, not just on the forums but our support in general. He was great last season but this season his form has been very erratic and thats within games not just game to game. He has made way more mistakes than Bevis this season, but its covered over because of his willingness to throw himself into tackles and put his body on the line (which is a very likeable quality). Not suggesting for a minute we move him on as I think he definitely has what it takes ro be successful for us. But if we are drawing comparisons its important to be fair.
  7. Sorry, but having seen it on tv, it really is. The ball may have come at him quickly, but if he hadnt moved at all it would have hit him and gone in. How he contrived to put it past is a mystery.
  8. I think he was. He has shown nothing in a Motherwell jersey so far to prove he still is. May well just need a proper pre season and a run of games. But the jury is still out.......
  9. Shame its not gonna be a pre-split shoot out. Its one of the advantages of the split that it provides a kind if "last day of the season" type drama. Of course Dundee could win and there will be no celebrations anyway for either support. But it will certainly take away from the day if they lose and one of us wins. No idea how this will end up but given that neither team can defend Im going for a high scoring encounter!
  10. My thoughts entirely. Just because an investor puts money into the club doesnt mean we wont have to pay it back. Yes it gives us more leeway in respect of overdraft facility, bit no one is gonna just give us £10m and walk away. We still need to be prudent in how we spend our money and try and make more good decisions than bad ones. Otherwise it could all come tumbling down pretty quickly. Hope we can get the terms of the offer ironed out pretty quickly so we get the opportunity to examine it and make a decision one way or the other.
  11. Can we play Rangers this time? Just to even things up you understand!
  12. As long as none of the scenarios require US to shut up shop!
  13. Do stewards ever actually go to football games themselves? I get that he has a job to do and is worried about things spilling over. But we just scored an injury time winner to keep us in the mix for top 6 off the back of a pretty shit season. No understanding of the situation whatsoever and his attitude towards our players and staff is pretty poor.
  14. Just my opinion mate. No need to over analyse it.
