  1. Enough to stop things we think are clearly not in the interests of the club. I think what is being suggested is that 51% shareholding doesnt adequately protect us if we are a minority on the executive board and one or more of those individuals is in the pocket of the new investor who may be a minority shareholder. I hadnt thought of that, but its a valid point.
  2. I hadnt actually thought about this before. But you are 100% right. We own the club right now, but what actual control can we exert? That needs to be rectified
  3. My issue with Dundee United, and reason for citing them is that they appear to be £10m in debt to their investor. Now thats all very well and good as long as the investor doesnt get bored and walk away. But I wouldnt call that a subsidy. These are soft loans. We owed John Boyle £11m in soft loans when he put us into administration. I really dont fancy going there again.
  4. I read the Erik Barmack interview with the BBC again today and to be fair, he does talk a good game and say all the right things. However, if there is any truth in the rumour that the offer is £1.5m over 5 years for 50% of the club, then a lot of things just dont add up. Firstly anyone who values our club at £3m is at it. We have 1 player who is worth at least that on his own before we even start looking at other assets and the value of the business as a going concern. Also talk of "not disempowering the Well Society" doesnt square with wanting a majority share. The wording of the interview certainly implies that he wants to work with the WS and allow us to remain the owners of the club and is certainly suggestive of growing revenues through "streaming" our story to a wider audience globally. Whether thats genuine, or even possible or not remains to be seen. Bottom line is we need confirmation of the offer and a chance to examine the small print before we can decide whether this guy is right for us or not. I will remain "healthily sceptical" until he shows his hand. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68790801
  5. I quite like him. He is naturally left sided and appears reasonably comfortable on the ball. He is still relatively inexperienced despite being 25 now, has played less than 100 senior games. I think with a good pre season and the proper coaching he could be a decent CH at our level. He is under contract so we probably need to put the work in with him as others will be easier to move on/replace.
  6. For the record, I think Bevis & SOD both get a much harder time than Casey, not just on the forums but our support in general. He was great last season but this season his form has been very erratic and thats within games not just game to game. He has made way more mistakes than Bevis this season, but its covered over because of his willingness to throw himself into tackles and put his body on the line (which is a very likeable quality). Not suggesting for a minute we move him on as I think he definitely has what it takes ro be successful for us. But if we are drawing comparisons its important to be fair.
  7. Sorry, but having seen it on tv, it really is. The ball may have come at him quickly, but if he hadnt moved at all it would have hit him and gone in. How he contrived to put it past is a mystery.
  8. I think he was. He has shown nothing in a Motherwell jersey so far to prove he still is. May well just need a proper pre season and a run of games. But the jury is still out.......
  9. Shame its not gonna be a pre-split shoot out. Its one of the advantages of the split that it provides a kind if "last day of the season" type drama. Of course Dundee could win and there will be no celebrations anyway for either support. But it will certainly take away from the day if they lose and one of us wins. No idea how this will end up but given that neither team can defend Im going for a high scoring encounter!
  10. My thoughts entirely. Just because an investor puts money into the club doesnt mean we wont have to pay it back. Yes it gives us more leeway in respect of overdraft facility, bit no one is gonna just give us £10m and walk away. We still need to be prudent in how we spend our money and try and make more good decisions than bad ones. Otherwise it could all come tumbling down pretty quickly. Hope we can get the terms of the offer ironed out pretty quickly so we get the opportunity to examine it and make a decision one way or the other.
  11. Can we play Rangers this time? Just to even things up you understand!
  12. As long as none of the scenarios require US to shut up shop!
  13. Do stewards ever actually go to football games themselves? I get that he has a job to do and is worried about things spilling over. But we just scored an injury time winner to keep us in the mix for top 6 off the back of a pretty shit season. No understanding of the situation whatsoever and his attitude towards our players and staff is pretty poor.
  14. Just my opinion mate. No need to over analyse it.
  15. Well, theres no other reason to tred the road they have as a public broadcaster other than management think its a good idea to boost listening figures.......
  16. Sportsound has become a dumbed down magazine show akin to Superscoreboard. Im sure they've done their focus groups who all agree this is what the public want. But listening to Mikey Stewart disgreeing with whatever anyone else says is extremely tiresome and a total turn off. Quality public broadcasting, it is not....
  17. The best thing about top 6 is it allows us to financially plan for next season at the earliest opportunity. With the amount of players we have out of contract at the end of season, that could be quite beneficial in respect of offering new contracts to existing players and pre contracts to those we are pursuing. If we could somehow get ourselves in the equation for a European spot that would be a bonus however unlikely at this stage.
  18. Wasnt at the game today, so no idea if we deserved the result or not, but it IS very very pleasing!
  19. Seems like a good appointment. 10 years at Ayr United, 7 years at St Mirren and 7 years at Shrewsbury. Cant find anyone saying a bad word about him and many raining compliments upon him for his communication, work with supporters and community groups. Seems like a good fit for us and happy that he is our appointment and not some investment companies. Hopefully we can get the new Chairman/Board sorted soon and the Society Board can crack on with their ideas on raising more revenue for both the Society and the club.
  20. You are correct. But Steven McLean directed Collum to look at the Bair incident again. He should have directed him to look at Shinnies as well. I dont think either are handball, but they have conspired to give Bairs, so consistency would indicate that Shinnies should be given as well. I think we all agree that the new rules are mental and VAR isnt helping. Just spoiling the game.
  21. I agree with that to a point, but goals change games. Thought we had got a grip of the game yesterday after a slow start and we have had a perfectly good goal chopped off. We go in at half time 1-1 its a different game for both sides and we maybe manage it differently. As for the Shinnie hand ball. Thats just theft of a point (if current rules are applied consistently).
  22. From looking at what SK does with his substitutions, he seems to make them using a pecking order in relation to seniority. His initial team selection seemed odd, but at half time he brings on Gent and takes off Mugabi and moves McGinn inside. He later brings on Devine and takes off Blaney and moves the entire back 3 across one. Its never just a like for like replacement. Now maybe he feels he can trust SODs and McGinn more than Blaney and Mugabi, but it cant be good for consistency of performance and patterns of play if your entire back line is constantly being moved around the place. Also taking Vale off and leaving Bair on. Ok Bair is our player and more senior than a young loanee, but Vale was having a much better game and may have assisted young Ferrie through the middle more than sticking Ferrie on the outside expecting him to assist Bair? Keeping your senior players happy for squad harmony is important. But there are times you just need to make the correct decisions to win the game. I didnt think SK did that yesterday.
  23. Fairly entertaining game of football spoiled by the Willie Collum show. I actually thought he had a very decent first half and had got most things correct up until the VAR incident. It then all unravelled for him in the second have with a string of inexplicable decisions in both directions. A draw would probably have been a fair result, but we only have ourselves to blame with the chances we missed and some really poor substitutions.
