  1. Bogdan seems an odd signing. He won't be an upgrade on Marciano, but you'd assume he'd be on a mammoth wage at Liverpool, which surely means Hibs will be paying a decent chunk of it on loan.
I'm going to have change this prediction about Hibs finishing well.
Pretty sure Lennon is thinking Marciano is better under pressure for his place. Bang average at the start of the season and lost his place before he won his place back. Was excellent second half of the season.
  2. You might not like it mate it's 35% however there are ways round it that would be better for Hibs,  Cash plus swap deal. The fee was low because of the sell on clause he is a talent and half you really think we would have let him go so cheap with the fee paid our , chairman confirmed it on buddie vision. If you sell McGinn Stevie Mallan would be the obvious replacement go check him out on YouTube. Looking forward to visiting Easter Road again always a good day out even if the score is not.
Cash + swap would still be valuing the player swapped at a certain level. The way round it would be a smaller fee, then Hibs sign someone like Allan for sweeties and get a loan with Celtic paying close to all the wages.

That would look seriously dodgy and I'm not convinced either Hibs or Celtic would do it. Reputational damage is definitely a thing.
  3. All this stuff about St Mirren getting diddled out of their sell-on cut will just be internet pish. St Mirren will have been reperesented by lawyers in the sale and it will cover what is , after all, not an unheard of situation, by either referring to the "consideration" for Morgan ( which is not just cash ) or having an arbitration clause that works out what a swap player is worth. For good measure there will be something about acting in good faith. And the SFA have a role in overseeing these contracts/sales ?
While it is tempting to have a pop at Celtic, I can't imagine  they would want to trash their reputation for straight-dealing  by conniving with Hibs just to diddle St Mirren out of a few hundred thousand - which is absolute chicken feed to Celtic. If McGinn goes to Celtic, St Mirren will get their cut.
And, should add, I can't see Hibs getting involved in any such nonsense.
If Hibs attempted it they would be fucked for ever getting someone with a sell on fee attached ever again.
  4. Which over a 6 year period (2010-2016) is 10 goals a year. [emoji6]
Even then, it's not his goal scoring prowess that's the issue. In the same way you said you get where I'm coming from, I also get where others are coming from too.
We'll just have to see how this all shakes out.

Edit: Kenny Miller has an infinitely better record than Stokes, yet he's been roundly derided as a bad option that will cause problems in the squad.

Kenny Miller is also 10 years older than him and his knee collapsed from trying to turn at Easter Road last season...

Stokes needs a specific set up to get him working and motivated imo. I'm not sure any club should be willing to do that, but if they do he'll score plenty of goals. At which point he will be looking for a move and it will require a complete rebuild. Fwiw there were no issues with him under Stubbs at Hibs. He might be the manager he needs.
  5. 7m is a good deal for all parties imo. Celtic are getting a decent fee for a guy that does not want to be there. Armstrong gets to test himself in a more competitive environment which can only be good for Scotland and Southampton get a player they wanted for a fee that’s very low for them.
I also don’t see the hype around McGinn however given he is nearing the end of his contract I don’t see a gamble in Celtic offering 500k if they think better coaching might improve him.
I also think Celtic may regret letting Liam Henderson go although the counter argument to this is he just needed a change and is flourishing now.
Hibs would rightly laugh in the face of a 500k bid. That's maybe 2 places in the league, reaching a cup semi final, or reaching an extra round in Europe. These are all things Mcginn would make more likely to happen. We'd literally be better off letting him leave for nothing next season. I'd also suspect that Celtic would end up having to spend more to get him if he was out of contract than 500k since he'd have lots of other bids driving up his wage demands.
  6. His agent will just be playing the game. Kamberi holds all the cards here in that we’ve got a strict deadline set before we can no longer afford the transfer fee. He’ll be making big demands that I don’t think we’ll be able to meet unfortunately.

If his agent wants to leave him in the hands of Grasshoppers who asked for 2m euros for him from Sunderland then he should be sectioned. The absolute worst case scenario I see happening here is Hibs signing him for the agreed fee then selling him on immediately for a bit of a profit.

  7. He’ll defo move somewhere, can’t see him sticking around at Grasshoper after he rinsed them for being disrespectful and treating him badly when he was there. All down to whether he risks it and tries to get a move elsewhere or comes back to Hibs for 2/3k a week, plus it’s a place and manager he seems to really like.

I’d be buzzing if we were to get him.

The very least Hibs will do is buy him then sell him on for less than the 2m quid Grasshoppers were trying to punt him for.

    https://www.themag.co.uk/2018/05/martin-skrtel-offered-newcastle-united-report/
Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign veteran centre-back Martin Skrtel this summer.

The Slovakia international is currently plying his trade for Fenerbahce but is available on a cut-price deal with his contract running down into its last year with the Istanbul outfit according to Turkish publication Fotomac.

Skrtel, now 33, has also been linked with Glasgow Rangers and a possible reunion with his old team-mate Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

But he is keen to get back to playing in the Premier League after an absence of two years following his Anfield exit.

A move to Rangers was dismissed by his agent as he stated that the Scottish giants were unable to match his wage demands.

His representative Karol Csonto said: “Martin would be very happy to play under Steven Gerrard.

“But sometimes, regarding transfers, you need to put so many things together and in this situation it’s impossible.

“When there is only a small difference then you can find a solution, but in this case, the salary of the player in Turkey is four or five times more than what Rangers could offer.

    “That makes it impossible.

“Also, Fenerbahce will never let him go because he is their most important player and they need him for the Champions League qualification.

“Eventually, the chief executives of the clubs did speak about a transfer but they both agreed the difference between them is too much.”
According to the Football Manager database (no exactly tablets written by Moses, but still a reasonably educated guess) Skrtel is probably on around 80k a week.

So the **** extending themselves to their maximum are probably able to pay about 20k a week tops. Just to put that into perspective, that's about 2/3rds of what Steven Naismith is earning at Norwich...
  9. Until we won the Championship in February, we swashed AND buckled every part time diddy outfit into oblivion.
Then from that March until he finally fucked off, it was a brand of football that made me want to roughly gouge my eyes out and fry them until they tearfully thanked me for what I was doing for them, and burst into fiery nothingness.
Plus, he has a really boring voice.
He was just preparing for the top league.

Honestly the Hearts side of the first half of the championship season you had was decent. Lots of movement up front and caused fits for every c**t playing against them. Then you started preparing for the Premier by turning into a Levein side which would suck the life out of god.
