Pubs of your misspent youth

White Horse in Balmedie only recently reopened having been shut for a few years. Aye, the Black Dog is just a right fine local pub. -

Black Dog has been my local for 20+ years and I've worked in the last 11. George St can give you a decent pub crawl as well. Murdos is a sister pub of the Black Dog and I was back and forth to ARI quite a bit in the last couple of years so have started to frequent it a wee bit more often. -

Donview was decent. O'Dons is still a thing. I play in the pool league and that's a great way for ticking off pubs. I'll potentially be in the Abbot in Kincorth for the first time this season. Golden Tee, White Cockade, Viccy and Grampian are all still on the go, played in all 4 in recent years. Aye you could have a decent BoD crawl between the Country Club, Mains, Buckie Farm (Toby), Parkway, Black Dog, Brig Inn and the Donview. There was also the legion plus the wee club on the Lochside estate. -

The Parkway and Donview are 2 of the locals that have disappeared in the last few years although the Parkway is supposed to be re-opening. Donview is now a Chinese. Played pool in the Neptune once, was an experience. Henry J Beans and the Balmoral/Bells are a couple of town places that are no-more. Also miss 2 for 1 in Charlie's and 69p nips in Cul De Sac on the opposite corner. -
How does this work for places like a cash and carry and alcohol wholesalers. Are they bound by MUP? I'd guess not because it would suggest that a 22 gallon keg of T would cost about £260.

The points being made about 'tramp juice' are very valid. A litre bottle of vodka, regardless of quality, will now cost at least £24.38 if it's 37.5% abv. A crate of 24 cans of 440ml tennents will be around £27.50. I can remember getting boxes of 24 for a tenner when I turned 18, according to the bank of England's inflation calculator, that should cost £18 now. Another poster pointed out that folk buying their normal carryout would be amazed at the increase. He's spot on, one of the regulars in my local bought a sleeve of 15 tins yesterday and couldn't believe he was over £17. The checkout quine in Asda said to him that he wasn't the first to have noticed.

Looks like being a bumper crowd for this. Around 1,100 tickets left in the Home sections, almost all in the RDU and Sections X and Y of the South. Have Hearts been given a full away allocation and is it sold? To on the park matters, we'd be crazy to think this will be anything other than a really tough assignment and although it does normally turn out a home win in this fixture, regardless of venue, I think we will have to play very well to get all 3 points. Can't see any changes to the starting XI from Saturday unless there are injuries. Verdict 2-1 Aberdeen.

Mathematical Milestones 2024/25

Aberdeen and Celtic remain with 100% records. Celtic have still yet to concede a goal. Kilmarnock and Hearts remain without a win, with Killie and St Johnstone joining the Jambos in being unable to reach 100 points. Rangers maintain a 100% 'home' record. Motherwell remain unbeaten at Fir Park after defeating St Mirren. Dundee lost for the first time at Dens while St Johnstone have now lost all 3 home matches. Dundee Utd's last gasp pen at Killie keeps them undefeated away from Tannadice. County, St Mirren and Hibs all failed to pick up their first away win of the season. This upcoming weekend. Killie will look for a first away win at Dens. Dundee Utd will aim to remain unbeaten away when travelling to Paisley. Celtic will look to continue their perfect start at County as will Aberdeen at home to a Hearts side seeking a first away point or first win of any kind. Rangers will look to continue their perfect 'home' record against St Johnstone -
I think that's a bit harsh on Saints. They got through the first half an hour unscathed, which we are always told is important, and still got absolutely scudded. We've won 12 in a row and are unbeaten in 22 and I still think we could get an absolute hiding at Parkhead in a few weeks time if Celtic turn up in the mood.

It's the disastrous 2022/23 campaign that's f**king the coefficient when 'Rangers' were the worst Champions League team ever and the Dons weren't in Europe to save us.

An F1 car doesn't work in very heavy rain though, while a Ford Fiesta does, woke F1 nonsense. -
This is an absolute joke of a situation for Rangers to be in. We are now less than 72 hours from kick off and some of their own fans don't know where they will be sitting and Hibs fans can't even plan for going to the game. By the looks of some earlier posts, they have breached the rules of the league by not providing details of an allocation 14 days in advance. If Hibs do receive tickets, how are they supposed to arrange a sale and distribute tickets at such short notice. Unbelievably amateur stuff from Rangers and if the boot was on the other foot, can you imagine the tears and snotters coming from down Govan way.
