  1. We are so inconsistent. You wonder how much of us winning games is down to us being good or the opposition being rotten. We have the best squad in the league (imo) but we just don't look up for it every week and, as mentioned above, when we don't score first, we far too often look hopeless. Which is a shame because in other matches we have come from behind to win matches. We just lack a plan B though and that isn't a new thing under Farrell. Not the end of the world, but not good enough and the concerns are still there.
  2. Can see this being a 3 or 4 nil defeat if we are going for it as much as the subs would suggest.
  3. Jeeez! The only thing he'll be winning is Cliché Bingo. Doesn't speak very well at all. I heard one of his first interviews and thought maybe being Duffy's puppet and being new to the role he'd develop a bit of character but he sounds clueless in that. Decent enough player a few years ago but I don't think it'll be long before his management career is finished. Might get into some kind of coaching role but I can't see him getting far in football management at this level, unless he really makes some dramatic changes in his approach.
  4. Interesting reading some of the comments on here! I felt yesterday we really lacked in the midfield. We had no link from defence to attack and other than our right wing. The only time we done anything dangerous down the other side was our 2nd goal. I thought we were flat in the centre of the pitch though and it's not that Wilson and Malcolm done anything wrong, but they don't want to get on the ball enough and don't look to split the opposition with a killer pass. Someone like Hilton, who's on the bench for some bizarre reason, would be much more creative in those areas I think. I also said a few weeks ago that I feel that R Wallace and Ruth could be the dream strike force and we seen at times how that would really work. Waldo has a great football brain and also looks to split the opposition backline with balls in behind. Ruth has the legs to run in behind and get on the end of things. Given time, I think it could really work well. We should have scored more though and I really hope we can learn to be more cut throat because, if goal difference comes into play at any point then games like this will be where we look back and think we should have had a couple more.
  5. We won't get many easier days than that. I'd have serious concerns if I was a Stranraer fan. They offered little to nothing and but for some calamitous defending, were never going to score today. We were very comfortable and also pretty good in spells. We showed some nice touches and nice build up play but we lacked a cutting edge, particularly in the first half. The only times we put in decent and dangerous deliveries, we scored. My main concern is the long periods where we are too slow and just lack sharpness in all areas. We have no urgency or creativity to break teams down when they sit in banks in front of us. We are screaming out for someone like Jinky Hilton in the starting line up, I reckon. I won't go into it too much but the selection wasn't bad, but I felt it could have been better and more balanced too. I thought Ryan Wallace was very good today, as was Shiels and our right hand side of Orsi and Pigniatello. If we can sharpen up and inject some urgency we should be up there challenging, but I still have my doubts that we have all the ingredients, and indeed the correct chef, to get things right.
  6. I wonder if we would look to at least spend Gregg Wylde's wage on a young loanee but it doesn't seem overly likely at the moment, given other teams are signing players and we aren't. Christ, Clyde have brought in a couple this week.
  7. I missed the boat on this one, but, did Peterhead pay a fee to re-sign McAllister? Jeeeez!
  8. This was my thought too. Surely room for a young loanee in an area where we could do with some cover. Even if just cover, surely his wage will allow us something.
  9. Said basically this exact statement when I read the post. He was the one who always stood out as fairly bizarre choice. I think Faz only signed him in case he couldn't attract the better quality of player, if I'm being honest.
  10. Wee bitty sensitive there... we made more changes than you guys and still at HT you'd have thought of the 2 sides it was ourselves who were playing in the higher league. Not much in the 2nd half really and we feel a bit hard done by missing so many chances whilst gifting all 3 goals to you guys. Safe to say, we both feel a bit more positive than we did at the end of last season? All the best for this season. I'm sure you guys will likely have enough to escape the bottom 2 places and maybe we'll see you in league 1 next year if things go to plan for us!
  11. What a strange match that was today. Not often you play against a team in the league above, lose 1 - 3 and can come away feeling somewhat satisfied and a little hard done by. I thought we should have scored 4 or 5 in the first half and but for 2 moments of dreadful defending/errors then we should have been ahead. At half time I was fairly confident we would make a game of it after the interval. Queue a pretty boring non-event. Whether we took our foot off the gas, tired or if Kelty just came out with a different approach to sit in a bit and not leave us gaps... we just didn't seem to get going properly. It was a real shame but we still looked quite dangerous at times and could have had a penalty or two late in the match too. I won't go into much details about the 3rd but it completely killed us at a vital time. Any tiny chance we had was buried when Ryan Wallace let his frustration get the better of him. The most annoying part of his whole game is the fact you always know he has that in him. A word on the subs, I thought today we looked to have the strongest bench I've seen us have for a number of years and was excited by the depth we had and the options to change so much in our starting line up. Unfortunately, I don't think any of them really made much impact. I think we could have made some changes a bit earlier but I'm not totally convinced it would have made that much difference. If we had started with our strongest 11 I think we may have won that today, but obviously that was mainly dependent on cutting out the errors.
  12. I purchased one of the streams pre season and it wasn't until last week I was reminded that we hadn't had a refund or even any acknowledgment of if not working at all. Not great from the club.
  13. Apologies if I missed anyone else saying, but wasn't Sheils filling in at CB at points last season and pre season before he signed on with us? I wonder if he'll be the one to drop in to that area. Wouldn't be my choice but allows us to keep Malcolm in the middle of the park.
  14. But did he waste loads of time in the 2nd half for @Francesc Fabregas to have a moan about?
  15. Anything but boring. Obviously concerns over Lynas and Carlo being out next week though?
  16. Interesting. Totally agree though. I'd like to think that was game over but we've all been following Dumbarton long enough to know it ain't over, until it's over
  17. Oooft! Perhaps Faz was right after all regarding giving someone a doing..? I assume the formation is similar to last weeks 2nd half for anyone there? More of the same 2nd half please.
  18. Yeah, hard to argue that Buchanan is possibly a better player. What I do think is that Mark Durnan could turn out to be a better acquisition than both.
  19. Time for agent Buchanan to come good with an OG and a penalty against him. Tight game but should be a good one hopefully.
  20. To be fair... looks like there might be more than 1 playing him onside?
  21. Some turnaround. Maybe there is some fight in this team, after all.
