  1. He saw something in Owen Ronald too

Yeah, he had got a couple wrong but ultimately he has a great record with signings. Even the player he didn't sign, he managed to get the best out of. I'll trust muzz to make the decisions he is meant to. If he feels Donnelly is worth a punt then so be it. He is very young and could turn out decent. He is only training with us at the moment though.
  2. Well when I went in less than a fortnight ago Gilbert said they had sold over 300 which was 'good for that time of year'. With the season ticket renewal last Friday I would guess a few would have made it in last week but can't have sold more than 500? Just a guess though.

  3. Taggart isn't capable of playing centre back, he's rubbish in the air and isn't physical enough to play centre half. It will be either right back or centre mid he will play.

On the OS they described him as a utility player who can play anywhere across the back or in midfield. So they might be going to give him a try at CB to see how he settles alongside the rest of the defense.

  4. Can I ask you guys what McGinn's strengths are? I remember him as being a strong defender who gets forward well.

His whole game is pretty high in standard! Great going forward, always a threat. Also very good defensively. I always thought he could do with bulking up just a little bit. But that will come with being full time etc.

That was the thing that I noticed most with Nicky Devlin before and after his Motherwell stint.

  5. I see there's a note on the DFC website about hospitality packages. I really hope the club doesn't try and kick the arse of what has been a very good value-for-money package until now, especially as there is to be no extra capacity at the ground.

Was told that for the Rangers games it could go up to as much as £90. More than double what it is now. I'd imagine the usual 'wee' games will be around £50 this year for season ticket holders and £55/£60 for non ticket holders.

  6. If Murray does leave, I'd only fancy our chances of staying up next season with Jack Ross in charge.

That's fine if Jack doesn't go with him? I'm unsure on whether Ian would take the team with him. They are the guys who have worked with him to build his reputation and they definitely seem to work well together.

  7. That's pretty disappointing news if he is dropping all the way down to Morton in league 1 from Celtic. Promising young player who had a bit left on his contract at Celtic as well. Would have loved to see him back. Still pretty young and will only get better the more he plays. Would have been a better player for another year in the championship playing against decent sides...

  8. Could it not be done over the phone there and then, or a form sent out today via email which I could have completed during my lunch hour? The option would have been nice, instead of the rather obvious wish to be off the phone as soon as possible.

Getting down the club isn't an option unfortunately.

You can download the form online. Don't it for a mate just last week. Quite straight forward enough. But, yeah might not let you purchase it until you hand the form in at the office.

I've been down twice to the stadium about season ticket enquires and twice it has been Gilbert who was on the desk. Does seem quite uncomfortable in the role. Heard today from him that sales are over 300 which is better than average for this time of year. Not sure how much truth is in it though.

  9. They do run their own buses from Dumbarton, but I'm not sure what kind of pricing is in place for them.

More to the point, will any 'Celtic' fans be in attendance at these games. We have a large following from both sides in the area and I can't help but feel we will get quite a few Celtic fans in the Dumbarton support. Ones who don't attend most Celtic games etc...

I personally have no problem with this kind of thing, as long as they don't start any trouble! Much like when we went to Aberdeen (I know there were a few old firm fans in our support) but they didn't cause us any hassle.

  10. Patience and perspective required from a few of you lot. Season only just finished and we have a whole summer to look forward to. Let's not forget we have been riding on the crest of a wave lately, it'd be a shame if off season boredom was allowed to undo the great recent success we've all enjoyed.

Football fans are a fickle lot.

Very true! As underwhelming as some of the signings may be thus far, we have to trust in Muzz. At the end of the day I reckon the gaffer was our most important signing of the close season and we tied him up early on. It is still early doors and there will be a lot more happening before we kick a ball competitively for the 14/15 season.

  11. Who does that leave uncommitted? Nish, McGinn and Megginson? Decision time for them soon.

Those 3 and Grindlay I think? McGinn and Megginson will be holding out for obvious reasons. The other two must have some kind of offer as they haven't been released. Unusual in both cases I think as Nish has the coaching side of things as well as playing. Grindlay really wanted to stay from what he was saying at the POTY bash. But hasn't signed (most likely not wanting to be 3rd choice).

  12. Hamilton have virtually no parking available, certainly for away fans, unless I'm mistaken. Maybe they do but it's not at the stadium, maybe this is an avenue the club are looking at. Difficult to think where we could use though.

Hamilton have a car park right beside the stadium which I was pleasantly surprised to hear was free. Exellent, right outside the away gates and under shelter also.

Cowden on the other hand have space for less than 50 cars and no car parks within reasonable distance of the ground.

  13. 2000 home fans with the away fans in adjacent cow sheds. Easy done. Would pay for itself with Falkirk. Sevco. Hertz and hibs.

From what i have heard we can put up temporary stands so I reckon terracing etc would be suffice. Better atmosphere that way also!

  14. I reckon our best bet may be a young keeper on loan from a premiership club. It is a position where many youngsters won't get much of a chance to play other than reserves or u20s etc. Everyone suggestion has been pretty underwhelming for me, but that's just my opinion. Can't wait til next month so we can start signing 'new' players!
