  1. I mean, that's quite the leap from anything I said, but cool.
  2. Weirdly, that's exactly why I'm completely comfortable that it was just a massive f**k up, as opposed to anything underhand or sinister. (Not the Jily Buyabu kind of sinister). Cover-ups tend to get leaked in one way or another, but when someone's just made a massive c**t of something, it generally stays unknown until someone points it out. That's not to say im happy that f**k up's like that are being made, but that's another story.
  3. Well, no, that's essentially my point. If we're only entertaining investors that we're fans of, then it's absolutely pointless, A - because it doesn't matter, and B - because no matter who it is, a significant percentage of fans will think their work is shite, so you're onto plums right from the start. Back in the days when Brown took over at St Johnstone, did the fans decide whether it was a good idea or not based on his business plan and his ideas for taking the club forward? Or based on how much they liked tractors? Actually, maybe don't answer that..... And I appreciate that you are mentioning that you're "afraid their target audience is under 16" in a derogatory way, but what age group do you think the target audience is for a provincial football club hoping to widen and grow their long-term fan base (one of the main goals of The 'Well Society)?
  4. I was just about to give some clarification on my earlier post when I saw this, and yeah....exactly. My point wasn't about The Sidemen, and I'm not a fan of their output at all, but I was using them as an example of how the definition of a traditional "successful businessman" has changed dramatically. No matter how stupid their product is, that's just their product...it might be fucking stupid and mind numbing, but why would it not be when it's making them that kind of money? Their business behind the scenes that the public don't see is something very different. You don't operate a £100 million pound business without a very astute business and PR team behind you. If someone like that was interested, they should absolutely be chased if their intentions weren't in line with what was good for the club, we should absolutely 100% be as choosey as humanly possible for that reason. But if we're going to be choosey because we're not a fan of their work, then we might as well just not bother. I'm sure there's plenty Wrexham fans who think Ryan Reynolds films are utter shite, but it's not about his films, it's about his intentions for the club. How he made his money shouldn't come into it (all jokes about unscrupulous money-laundering schemes aside). tl;dr - Successful business people aren't limited to suited-up old men in boardrooms anymore, and we have to be wise to that.
  5. The oldest of the Sidemen has just turned 31. The 7 of them have a combined net worth of close to 100 million and have annual passive income in the 10's of millions. They have close business ties with Logan Paul and Mr Beast, add them into the mix and you're talking money that most "serious" businessmen (and Taylor Swift ) could only dream of. I mean it's not any of them obviously and never will be, but to write-off game-changing, business-changing social media entrapraneurs as adult children playing on the internet, makes you sound about 90 years old.
  6. Tommy Coakley turning up to speak to McMahon and Weir...
  7. Hashtag United are a team started by a Youtuber called Spencer FC. Connor truly hitting the heights there. Although in fairness all the big Youtube groups that include football stuff - Spencer FC, Chris MD, Sidemen, could afford to buy and sell Motherwell several times over.
  8. Sasa Curcic. Bit of a legendary arrival already given his antics down in the English Premiership, arrived at Motherwell and his contract talks involved telling the club he wanted to be paid in beautiful women instead of money. Left about 6 weeks later. I'll let you draw your own conclusions there.
  9. Said on the radio he was touch and go, only just missed out.
  10. I had been predicting a draw because, well...it's us, but there's not a chance a Spittall-less Motherwell is taking anything from Tynecastle.
  11. Just as a wee counter to this given I agree with that being the situation, I'd say that it's extremely risky to put those choices in the hands of someone that's just arrived and doesn't really know what we need, or has completely different ideas that don't work with the slim pickin's we have left. I fully believe the most valuable assets we could have going forward, that have the potential to make the most significant and tangible differences, are stability and longevity. You can't have either of those without riding a few rough patches. Especially when those rough patches still have us knocking on the Top 6 door. I genuinely think constant new manager ideas are a much bigger cause of the constant rebuilds required (along with their associated costs), than natural player turnover is.
  12. Played 46 Won 19 Drawn 14 Lost 13 Scored 74 Conceded 58 One 7th place finish (with more points than the team in 6th), and currently 7th, potentially one decent win away from top 6. There's absolutely no way whatsoever that Stuart Kettlewell isn't the Motherwell manager for the forseeable future given those numbers. Given (I think) everyone's hope is for us to have someone in place for a lengthy period to actually build, and that the numbers above include what's considered his shit/not good enough/sack him/launch him into the sun period, I'm not really sure what else we'd be looking for here. The nature of a lengthy period of stability and building something is that the initial phase is the lowest point otherwise what are you building on, so I can't for the life of me think what the end goal must be if you want the start of a build to be better than that! It's skewed obviously as it includes cup games and is a few more games than our football season but just for a very rough illustration (and I'm just trying to avoid doing any actual work even though I'm back from lunch), if those numbers above were a season that would have us on 71 points with a GD of +16.
  13. As shite and depressing as it was, we actually finished 10th in the Malpas season somehow!
  14. I mean, none of that makes any sense as he applied for it when Alexander was emptied and Hammell got the job, but cool. I could understand Accies fans maybe "bursting a blood vessel" at it, but I'm not sure why the Hamilton/Motherwell rivalry would wind up a Morton fan?
  15. I think this is beyond "having a shout", and into the most likely outcome for me. The main thing that has caused us to have to continually claw back draws, is just not settling at the back and teams scoring with their first real attack, regardless of when in the game that comes. I'm sure that won't have gone un-noticed and whereas the instructions for most teams playing a club from a league above would be to keep it tight for the first half hour, I fully expect this to be the opposite and the instructions will be to try and hit us early.
  16. I think what also gets overlooked in the "Motherwell are struggling" narrative is that we've only lost 2 of our last 12, and one of them was against Rangers.
  17. His fairly recent application for the Motherwell job would suggest half of this isn't as true as you might think. Our polite but swift "no thank you" would suggest the other half is. On a separate note, got a bit of the fear about this. Hard to know if our improvement has been actual improvement, or more of a "if you fling enough shite at a wall, some of it will stick" scenario. Looking forward to it regardless!
  18. Add me to the Sam fanclub, a very tidy player and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do at full fitness. Also been very impressed with Andy Halliday, he's been a great addition.
  19. If it wasn't for the County keeper, that was double figures.
  20. I think your keeper has to take a lot of credit....the majority of those were great saves rather than anything to do with finishing.
  21. Wee interview with Harry Paton and Sir Thelonius of Bair
  22. I try to not pre-judge players ever since Handsome John spent a year at Hearts looking like he'd never played football before, sandwiched in between being an absolute bona-fide legend at Fir Park. Sometimes a particular club or setup just does/doesn't work for a player. For whatever reason, big Theo is thriving and you love to see it.
