  1. Rebound goes way off to the right as we look at it, to the player under the red arrow (not sure who that is, sorry), who hits it off the legs of Gent who's under the yellow arrow, and rebounding away to distance. This isn't a Motherwell fan v a St Mirren fan thing, and you may not like the rule with it's discretionary addition, which is fair enough...there's loads of them I don't like, but O'Donnell didn't influence the penalty or the rebound so the ref is correct to allow play to continue.
  2. The ball doesn't come back to O'Hara, it goes off to the right of that still image, and the rebound is hit by a player that's not even in shot there
  3. If the ref decided that it had then yes, but that's where the discretionary part comes in.
  4. RE the encroachment at the penalty, you're sort of both correct. The laws of the game say that any enroachment should result in a re-take, but there was a revision a few years back that allowed referee discretion, so now generally a referee will often only order a retake if a defending player who encroaches, has an effect on the penalty itself (i.e clears the rebound, blocks a secondary shot etc etc). So as much as O'Donnell did encroach, the referee deemed it to not have affected the penalty at all (which it didn't), so had the discretion to over-ride the rule, which he did. Edit to add: As it's discretionary, if the referee had decided to order a re-take, that would also have been correct.
  5. I'm really just adding this post in as a sort of bookmark for myself, but I just have a feeling there's a turnaround on the way. I think Kettlewell will still be the manager come the end of the season, and I think we'll be comfortably mid-table.
  6. Hammell wasn't even being considered for the job until after the St Mirren win. It was literally a "holy shit, that was unexpected! Do you want it?" scenario.
  7. Scenes when Gent lines up on the right and Spencer on the left.
  8. Just to add, in all seriousness I really like Stuart Kettlewell. I think in a nutshell it's just down to a few results not going our way, overthinking it and before you know it, it's just snowballed and with every game that goes by without 3 points, the panic increases, you tinker more and more which just gets you further and further away. There's a huge part of me that feels that one win would be that bucket of cold water in the face that just wakes you up and the clarity comes rushing back. I still think there's a really good side in there somewhere, that's just not joined up at the moment.
  9. Honestly don't understand why we don't just score more goals and let in less goals. It's not rocket surgery.
  10. Suggestion 1 - We have a left back that looks more than decent, and has changed almost every game he's come on in, albeit for about 20 minutes each time. Play him, instead of overlooking him for: A - an extremely right footed right back, or: B - Our most effective attacking centre mid. Suggestion 2 - The aforementioned extremely right footed right back who Kettlewell plays at left back, is our best right back, so play him at right back rather than at left back ahead of our only actual good left back. Suggestion 3 - We have a more than decent attacking centre mid who chips in with a few goals. Play him there, rather than shoe-horning him in at left wing-back when the right back who's playing left back ahead of the actual left back, isnt playing well because he's a right footed right back playing on the left. Suggestion 4 - We have one supporting striker who looks like he can actually finish occasionally. Don't move him back to centre mid halfway through a game. Suggestion 5 - When the aforementioned supporting striker who actually has some finishing ability says in the press that he'd never played centre mid before and had absolutely no idea what he was doing, don't then start him there in the next game. Suggestion 6 - When we have a limited budget, dont spend it on players who are already injured, and then have to sign a 2nd player because the 1st one is always injured. Also, maybe try and make sure that this 2nd replacement player isn't also injured. Suggestion 7 - Don't renew the contract of injured strikers that are already in our own treatment room, and then have to bring in someone else as well because they're injured. Suggestion 8 - When you sign this replacement striker, don't pick one that's scored single digit goals in total in his whole career.
  11. Neil Lennon was at Motherwell as a kid but went back to Ireland as he was homesick being away from his family. I wonder if the whole Leicester/Celtic thing was just him biding his time until he was ready?
  12. Just seen Liam Kelly's post match interview. He's definitely been crying, and looks like he's about to start again any second. He also doesn't know what "they had no right to be there" means.
  13. Someone who knows the difference between left and right would be a start, and then we'll take it from there.
  14. Apologies for quoting myself, but ask and ye shall receive. Yesterdays "No nonsense at the back" caption, when nonsense is literally ALL we have at the back, might be up there with the best yet.
  15. Looking forward to the "Fighting right to the end"....."Never give up" approach from the media team being completely unable to read the room as per.
  16. It had become leaked public knowledge that he'd already agreed his deal move to Hibs before we went into the game, so (aside from the results), that would have been a big part of the reason for the shouts.
  17. I just checked the stats for that season, and it's actually even funnier than I realised. Motherwell beat Hibs 6-2, Mcleish moved to Hibs the following day, and Hibs got relegated by finishing 4 points behind Motherwell. Surely can't be many other times a manager has relegated himself.
  18. Spot on, although if I remember rightly after the Alloa game, Mcleish lasted the rest of that season and half of the following season where his last act before moving to Hibs the following day, was to absolutely tank Hibs
  19. HAVE I noticed that before? No I haven't, WILL I be able to ignore it now? Listen, and I've said this before to you guys, I don't get to decide these things. I can only focus is on what's best for this football club.
  20. "Former Cayman Islands international Ged 'only on Sky' Brannan" to give him his full official name if you don't mind.
