  1. The highland academy has been up and running since 2002 which is about the same time that we started looking at setting one up properly. Whilst they may have a smaller pool to pick from their success rate is still pretty woeful considering they've been up and running for nearly 14 years.
  2. Theyve not had an overdraft since the murray days but have still been splashing the cash. The likes of ian black etc on thousands a week and super Ally on 850k a year.
  3. Hoping to get there but its the weans birthday. Since when has being rooked stopped sevco from spending money?
  4. We'll not win the league. Sevco will strengthen in Jan and run away with it. Hibs should come second quite comfortably although im not convinced stubbs has the brains to get them up via the playoffs. 3rd place will be a decent season for us especially if we can hang on to hibs coat tails for a wee bit longer.
  5. Problem with Pressleys signings was that for every El Alagui or Taylor there seemed to be a Haworth or White signed. He signed a few gems right enough but also far too many diddies which kept costing us in the league campaigns.
  6. I'dve had Pele,Stephen Bradley,Roman Wallner, Dermot McCaffrey and Josh Wagener up there before anyone to be honest.
  7. Who can forget Yogis top notch replacement for Anthony Stokes whose currently plying his trade in the magnificent Botswana Premier League. How the feck did he keep getting his contract renewed?
  8. Stainrod played in the top flight in England scoring 21 goals for Villa in one season as well as playing for the likes of QPR and Sheff Wed. Farid is no more than a journeyman who struggled to get a game for a league one side. Whilst both were fans favourites the gap between them as footballers is massive.
  9. Some people unfortunately seem to forget that falkirk fc did exist pre the john hughes management era.
  10. Hibs luck will run out eventually. You cant continually get ridiculous penalties given or stonewall penalties knocked back.
  11. Reillys a decent player and id take him at falkirk in a heartbeat. Lyle to me has benefited greatly from the continual drop in standards of scottish football. He like baird is a decent championship player and nothing more.
  12. Dont have a pot? We just made 1.2 mill last year. We're certainly not skint and shouldnt be selling anyone on the cheap. Sibbs lacks the pace to make it at top level but then guys like ryan flynn have done ok out the game and he wasnt the quickest either. If we had some more creative players in the team hed thrive more. At the moment hes targeted by the opposition that know hes the only player of that type we've got.

  14. It would be an utter disaster for us if he did get picked. I doubt you can postpone a fixture for having one callup so we would be missing him for important games whilst the likes of St Mirren are getting games put off for players that aren't even getting a game like Shankland. Hopefully he'll avoid a call up for a while yet.
  15. They'd have gone down the tubes a few seasons ago if the Tulloch group hadnt bailed them out. Lets face it you dont get to 3rd place in the top flight on a budget based on 850 season ticket holders, piss poor crowds and the pittance they get off the spl.
  16. Whilst performance on the park should always be thee most important element now that the novelty has worn off it can't be good for Scottish football to have the likes of ICT, RC and Hamilton in the top flight on a long term basis. Piss poor home and away crowds don't exactly promote the game or create decent atmospheres for the football on show. Whilst you cant argue that Hamilton are a very well run club ICT and RC both rely on big financial backers to exist in their current state. I'd love to see RC's accounts without their sugar daddy pumping cash in to keep them afloat. Hamilton should also be praised for bringing through some excellent young talent over the past few seasons whilst RC and ICT have failed miserably in this area even with the Highland Academy which has been up and running for some time now. If you take away Ryan Christie from the two sides their teams are packed with an ever changing array of journeymen who are hired and fired depending on the way the team is playing. Great if you can afford it but not really a good long term strategy in my opinion.
  17. Its just a shame that Hughes could never get a team to play for a whole season. Every year things were great up to Christmas and then awful between then and the split when we'd usually pick up against the dregs of the league. Hibs fans I've spoken to said it was the same there. Once other teams had worked us out there was no plan B to speak of. Unfortunately him dropping his formula which just about got us into the top 6 to spunk money on players that were finished and BOB means his time at the club will always be tainted.
  18. He's a decent striker at this level as long as he's not stuck up front on his own. At home with one up front against teams erring on the defensive he doesn't get much of a sniff but away from home with two up front against teams that are actually attacking you he's done well.
  19. Queens are a totally different animal from the team we played against last season. They've lost a bundle of players and where last season they'd have come and attacked us this season their understandably a lot more defensive minded in away games. Fowler I reckon will be quite happy to finish mid table as he builds for next season. Doesn't mean though that we won't see them setting up differently with new personnel next year.
  20. His tactics were maybe okay but he wasn't in my opinion using the correct players in the roles required. Baird cant play up top on his own. Miller should've been given that job and we badly needed a right back that could provide some decent width and not a lumbering centre back out there whose never going to be able to beat a man, get to the bye line and get a cross in.
  21. You can surely blame the manager for signing the two clowns in the first place. I dont think we've had a manager since lambie that has been so feckin bad in the transfer market as Houston.
  22. Needs to be far more consistant and provide an end product far more. Hopefully miller up front will help him.
  23. Wonder what will happen first.New fourth stand or new striker signed by Houston? Toughie!
  24. Surely the first thing you should say to any player before a trial is what kind of deal are you looking for to see whether its a goer or not. What is the point of taking a look at a guy and then finding out his wage demands aren't acceptable. Honestly Houstons attempts at bringing in a decent striker have been pitiful. We're no better a team this season than last .
  25. A fourth stand would certainly improve the look of the stadium but you'd need to fill in the corners too to improve the atmosphere. No problem with them building another stand if it can be financed outwith the club.
