  1. Looking to do another five or so this year, main thing that puts me off is the long drive up. Is there any close to main roads that are easy to get to, maybe hour and half drive from fife area?

I've done pretty much all the popular ones already.

The Mayar and Driesh combo is an easy hillwalking experience.

The start of this walk is 37 miles from Dundee at Glenclova.

  2. We should see an almost Total Solar Eclipse at around 09:30 on Friday 20 March 2015 (weather permitting) (Glasgow 93.73% at 09:34)

This will be the best Solar Eclipse in Glasgow until 23 September 2090. The last time there was a 93% Solar Eclipse in this area was 8 April 1921.

Faroe Islands is the place to be for the chance to see a 100% Solar Eclipse next March:

  3. Combis are good provided you have decent mains water pressure, if you have low mains water pressure a regular or system boiler is recommended.

The links below are quite handy for picking the correct boiler. The new Worcester Greenstar Cdi Compact boilers that came out last year now have a modulating pump that uses up to 30% less electricity to run than a normal circulating pump

All Combis now have to be condensing and will save several hundred pounds a year in gas costs over the older non condensing combi boilers. A plastic pipe has to be fitted for the condensate but this usually can be routed to an internal waste pipe, to save putting it outside where you have to lagg it to prevent freeze ups in winter.
