Between those dates, be prepared:

Just heard on the radio there that if people knew there was going to be a Tory UK election win next year the yes vote would be 49%.
Just remember the Tories tried out the Poll Tax in Scotland before anywhere else in 1990, and have recently shut down two of the 3 RAF bases here whilst leaving us with the nukes 20 miles from Glasgow. They have also shut down Clyde Coastguard.
Endless Tory governments? There is a chance of that if we vote no.
Nobody wants the Tories in Scotland apart from some folk in the south of Scotland where they have their 1 solitary Scottish MP.

In 2007, Popular Mechanics magazine analysed all plane crashes since 1971 and found that those in rear seats, behind the wing’s trailing edge, were safest. Survival rates were 69 per cent compared to 56 per cent over the wing and 49 per cent for people sitting at the front of the plane. In December 1995, the five people who survived the crash of American Airlines flight 965, were all seated within two rows of each other - at the over wing emergency exit, an area reinforced with metal. One of the survivors said:"The location where we were sitting was over the wing which was near the exit row and I've heard on numerous occasions that those rows are one of the safest areas to sit in because it's the most reinforced with metal"

I see they are now looking in the area I mentioned last week...if only theyd listened to me.
Are you talking about the Indian Ocean?
Reports on the TV this morning that some residents of the Maldives believe they seen a low flying plane similar to the Malaysia 777 around the time it was announced it was missing.
Could it be under cover in one of these airfields?

If the plane had wandered unannounced into some other countries airspace there's a fair chance it's been shot down and is being covered up as the plane was full of Chinese nationals it's hardly likely to go down well. If that's the case we might never hear about it.
Shirley not the Russians?

The same guy on the TV this morning also said if the plane did land somewhere, they would have to hide it (e.g. in a hangar) as it would probably be picked it up on spy satellites by now.
The plane heading north-west and data from it being picked up for 7 hours?

Why would 'the Chinese' (by which I assume you mean the government) rile the international community for the sake of $50,000,000
An aviation specialist was saying this as a possible scenario on the TV this morning and if it were going on it would not be in the public domain.
I would imagine the Chinese would keep it hush hush as it could compromise the operation if they made it public.

Someone's nicked the plane
New, these planes cost $261.5 million.
Somebody mentioned it could have been hijacked and they are negotiating with the Chinese over say a $50 million pay out.
This would not be made public apparently if they are negotiating.

Sounds like the transponder was switched off on the flightdeck so the aircraft wasn't emitting a squawk code.
The 100 miles being tracked per the story below would have to be on primary radar if that was the case.

This is the actual plane, reg 9M-MRO. It was delivered in 2002.

The Boeing 777 was en-route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when contact was lost.
239 people aboard. If confirmed lost, it will be the worst air disaster involving a Boeing 777.
The first commercial flight of the 777 was on 7 June 1995 and is Boeing's first 'Fly By Wire' commercial aircraft.

June certainly, but not May.
May is a midge free month in most of Scotland.
June to mid Sept for the midges.
