  1. I've said this before but this stems from the boardroom as well. Other clubs I've been involved with generate their volunteers through proactive leadership encouraging people to get stuck in and making them feel valued when they're there. We just don't have that going on. There's no life in the club, it's being suffocated from the top.
  2. No need to buy shares. I haven't refreshed my knowledge of the articles recently, but from memory it's something like: minimum 5% shareholding to bring a motion at the AGM to sack a director or elect a new director. for the motion to pass requires 50% + 1 of votes cast on the basis of 1 share, 1 vote. any new director has to own at least one share. However, there are three very large groups of shareholdings (I believe it's: Davie Rae, the Houlistons, the Blounts). Their holdings are sufficiently large that any motion to sack or appoint a new director would in effect require at least two of the three in support.
  3. Tbf to Sandra, she's the in house media person. She's never going to try to make him uncomfortable. This is where it would be good if the Standard, Westsound, or a grassroots media person was putting out interviews
  4. Here's the thing, though. We don't need anyone to be interested in us, in the sense of buying the club. We're not funded by the owners, i.e. the several thousand shareholders. At this level, we just need a board which is proactive and creative. For years, the line was that "directors need to be ready to put in their own money", but then at the AGM two years ago they admitted there's no such legal requirement. As of the last accounts we had plenty cash in bank to cover losses. It's time to bring in directors with the skills and passion to exploit the clear potential our club has.
  5. Highlights up before 9 pm. Excellent service. Just another thing our club can't manage, along with winning games, maintaining a stadium, retaining its fan base, developing youth players, etc. We are heading to the Lowland League. But, here, at least we're doing a lot for local charities.
  6. I have no idea if it's true or not, but worth pointing out that it wouldn't necessarily mean they stood in his way, rather he might have offered to leave without compensation if they wanted him to, and they declined. As I say, no idea if it's true or not, first I've heard of it is on here.
  7. Who is the Thomson who's sub keeper, from the reserves?
  8. Fair enough, I did read it the wrong way. I agree with what you've said above, although I am always late so I have some sympathy with Ambrose!
  9. So you think he should have played Ambrose notwithstanding ill-discipline because it's one of his mates, but other players who didn't stick to the game plan need to get binned? Find much of the reaction a bit baffling. Knives out for a young manager who has brought professionalism, a decent style of football, excitement, and much improved results to the club. Improvement is never linear. There are going to be bad days. But the manager on the whole is doing a great job.
  10. I have just found the notepad with my handwritten notes in. It was Eastbourne 3-1 Dover on 3 September 2022. I was watching the whole team so focused on formations, patterns of play, etc so have limited data about any individual player, but this is what I have on Hutchinson: Eastbourne lined up in a 4-2-3-1, dropping to a 4-1-4-1 out of possession which collapsed into a 5-4 in the final third, with Hutchinson remaining high throughout the opposition build up and isolated from team-mates. This encouraged Eastbourne to play long clearances attempting to find Hutchinson on basically every recovery under pressure in the defensive third, although not always successfully. In possession, when building from the back, the CAM and either full-backs or wide AMs would move alongside Hutchinson to create a forward line of four on the opposition defensive line. The long ball was dangerous in this scenario, with the CAM or Hutchinson regularly winning first contact and able to flick it in behind for their counterpart. I noted that the flick-ons were very accurate/effective. Eastbourne's other primary attacking pattern was to break quickly on transitions (especially in the second half when they pressed higher), with short quick passing between FBs and AMs, and passing in behind for Hutchinson to run onto and shoot. He was involved in all three goals: the first goal he took possession on the left wing from the LAM and crossed for the unmarked CAM to head in; second goal was a long ball over the top, flicked on by the CAM and finished first time by Hutchinson; third goal possession was won back high and passed in behind by the CAM, again finished first time by Hutchinson. That probably explain the charts, i.e. his game consisted of sitting high and either creating chances for the CAM or finishing first time when released in behind. One thing I will take back from my earlier post: my notes say that none of the Eastbourne players (therefore including Hutchinson) were especially tall.
  11. That's an excellent signing. As I've previously mentioned on here, there is a National League South club I occasionally do reports for and funnily enough I watched him score two in a game for Eastbourne last year, but then didn't write up my notes as the subsequent game with my club was rearranged. I seem to remember him giving the impression of being a complete player at that level, good with the ball at his feet, fast, tall and clinical. Not surprised he got the move up to Aldershot where he continued to score goals. I do wonder why he's come here rather than go back out to an NL team or fight for a place in a struggling Colchester team. It sounds as though we've paid a fee for him which is a nice indication of Marvin being backed.
  12. Get a pair of cufflinks if you want to flush out the masons...
  13. I like Walker. He's young with good attributes, eager to learn and improve, and seems to value the fact he's playing for the fans. The "dive" last week was not dissimilar to Isaiah Jones v Hearts, hanging a leg out to initiate contact - I'm not keen on it but it's just part of the toolset for a modern pacy winger.
  14. Marlow play in the Isthmian League Division One which is Step 4 of English non-league. By way of comparison, the likes of Ayo Obileye, Josh Debayo, and Nortei Nortey all came to us from the National League Premier which is Step 1. There is a huge gulf between Steps 1 and Step 4. The crowds and budget at Step 1 are akin to the bottom end of the SPFL Prem to the Championship, while Step 4 is more like the bottom end of SPFL League Two. But that's not to say there aren't potential gems at Step 4 level: that's where Middlesbrough signed Isaiah Jones from.
  15. Sign chat is one of them little things that makes a club what it is. Actually disappointed to hear it's already been updated.
  16. They've also taken the queen's trust website off it for some reason.
  17. Why is the "of" in lowercase and italics? Should be demolished for that reason alone.
  18. Mutulu Shakur last week (still waiting on an obit) and George Alagiah this week. First points on the board and things are looking up!
