  1. And 4 is too many? The duties of Directors are set out in sections 171 to 177 of the Companies Act 2006. There is no obligation on Directors to pour in their own money. That would be ridiculous. If that were the case, the bosses of RBS and other companies would have become paupers in the 2008 crash, rather than resign with huge bonuses, and no-one would ever risk becoming a director. How stupid do they think we are?
  2. Aye but if you extend that logic, cammy, no-one should ever try to do anything in case someone else tells them "no". The onus is on the people saying "no" to trust their supporters and explain why. Also, the Trust started this many years ago, and I am not sure there was any "us and them" mentality then. Things definitely got frayed around the time of the Skelton departure, with feelings among many fans that favoritism was rife and the BoD were not communicating honestly with the fans. The appointment of someone already known to the BoD as an internal "supporters liaison officer" did little to allay those feelings. Perhaps the Trust does have to shoulder some blame, I am sure you have valid reasons for seeing it that way, but not the majority of the blame in my view.
  3. As do I I suspect this is the problem. We already have Queens fans on the board, and they feel special because they are putting in money and running the club. Why would they want some shitmuncher with a three figure bank balance, some sellotape and a handful of match posters sharing the glory...
  4. Seems the conversation has moved on a bit as I have not been online, however my response would be why do we have 22-24 youth players if we can only get games for half of them? Presumably the answer is a diplomatic metaphor for a fishing trawler net - get as many signed up as possible to maximize returns. Sadly few of them have come through to play regularly for the first team.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Since the manager only intends to monitor them when playing for the 20s, I suppose my follow up question is, what is the advantage for a 16/17 year old to play with the hammer throwers of the South of Scotland League rather than just play in the Development League? I cannot imagine they learn much relevant to the professional game, and there must be a lot of bad habits they could pick up and enthusiasm they could lose playing at that level. Obviously I am not an expert and I am not expecting anyone on the forum to be one - some people may have a bit more insight than I do, though.
  6. Kudos on a quality joke. We have many more players at Uppers than anywhere else, and Uppers are second bottom of the worst league in Scottish senior football.
  7. According to the official website we now have 15 players out on Development Loans. Only one of those is playing in the league (and not getting a regular start at Annan Athletic), and the rest are at a pretty poor level in the Lowland League and South of Scotland League. Nine of the 16 are at clubs which were in the Dumfries Saturday Amateur League until that folded in 2014. They are at a level that has nothing at all to do with the professional game. As far as I am aware these lads don't cost much in terms of wages, and they are getting a college course as well, so if they think it is worth it then fair do's. I have no real problem and am just curious about the point of all of this? It must be a lot of admin for the club, for apparently little reward for anyone involved. Maybe I should just ask the board?
  8. To add to that, Dobbie scored 9 goals in his first 10 games for us during that blistering start. It all then went pearshaped after the Rangers match. Dobbie has now scored 8 goals in his last 10 games. If we can tighten the defence, then the rest of the season looks like coming up Milhouse.
  9. The Supporters Liaison Officer, an existing club volunteer, appointed by the club, to talk for the club to the supporters. The "liaison" here is coming out of the boardroom, not into it, which is what most supporters have been asking for. Still, let's hope they do a good job that benefits the club.
  10. Come on, it's just a message board! Viewed the right way he is a bit of a laugh. Aren't you RUSTY?

  12. Has the person who writes the match preview only just discovered the comma button?
  13. That is a frightening prediction! Rusty1111 where are you?! I need calming down.
  14. I like Rusty. The monotony of his posts calms my soul in a tumultuous and scary world.
  15. I just cannot understand how Thomson ended up as our director of football. Did he not start out doing community appearances just because he lived nearby, turned that into a project with the schools, and somehow he has got from there into ousting managers and sitting in the dugout. A master of job security. You look around at other directors of football and they have years of experience as managers under their belt.
  16. If those people do not realise, and presuming they have an issue with Gretna FC, it's even more satisfying that we are now in the position of congratulating GFC on reaching Round 2 while using our youth players.
  17. I had to listen to the Hibs game on Open All Mics. Chico spent a good five minutes claiming Lewis Stevenson's foul was "a yellow, aye, but never a red". The host even prompted him, "and you're sure there wasn't a yellow earlier in the game, making it a dismissal for a second yellow", to which Young's Fish Pie retorted "No. Definitely not". Only to correct himself five minutes later. He also claimed that someone had told him there were 5,000 in the ground.
  18. I seem to remember people complaining when English commentators began calling him Dobie, because it was clearly Dobbie. Funny how things change.
  19. I heard 2,000 guys named Peter Houston all clubbed together, but I might be getting confused.
  20. I have posted in the Rangers match thread my view that Skelton should have made 1 or 2 changes tonight. Given his mantra is about sticking with a form team, and so few passes this evening, it will be interesting to see what 11 he starts with on Saturday. f**k's sake.
  21. That's a fair shout. We had been playing Dundee 4 times a season for three years when we met in the Quarter Final in 2008. We mustered a crowd of 6,278 that day which is about three times our average for the season. No reason we shouldn't take about three times our normal midweek support at Ibrox. Anyone know what the away support was at our Tuesday games there in 2015 and 2012?
