  1. That's also a proper Queen's Park strip! According to the book "Queen's Park Football Club (Images of Sport)" by Blair James where a black and white version of this photo turns up, it was a Glasgow Cup tie played on 22nd August 1960. Result was a 5-1 win for Thistle. In the photo Peter Buchanan is having a shot at the Thistle goal. Those of us who remember him still turning out for Queen's in the late 1960s will be surprised to see him in such a svelte shape. He did "fill out" somewhat towards the end of his football career.
  2. He must have given a great interview to come out on top of such an impressive list of candidates for the post. Oh hang on a minute ...
  3. That's a wowser of a potential conflict of interest right there.
  4. Isn't Louis the last man standing from the raft of players signed by Ray McKinnon back at the start of season 2020-21? How time flies! I'm glad he's signed on again after he proved to be effective in a number of roles in what has been a wild season.
  5. A really good listen Charlie. Dom comes across very well and gives some interesting insights into the Owen Coyle / Robin Veldman/ Callum Davidson eras. It's especially interesting to hear what Dom thinks about Robin Veldman and the situation he found himself in. Well done.
  6. Hampden it is for next season: https://queensparkfc.co.uk/spiders-to-remain-at-hampden-for-season-2024-25/ A repeat of last season's arrangements so our early fixtures will be at Lesser, a stadium which is now definitely too small for us. It's a shame that absolutely no work (or even planning?) has gone into expanding Lesser.
  7. Wasn't it Nuijten who changed the system to three at the back and Davidson kept it going? I wouldn't mind a modicum of Dutch influence remaining in the club.
  8. Yeah, I noticed that there were more people than usual heading towards Hampden before the game on Friday. I'm used to being practically the only one walking purposefully along Battlefield Road pre-match but quickly became aware that there were quite a few more. I agree with your estimate of around 1,500 - 1,600 in the home end. Our "normal" home support now is probably around 900 and occasionally bigger which is well up on both the Ochilview and Firhill seasons. In fact this season's average home crowd is the biggest since 1959-60 and I feel that there is definite potential for further increases if we could actually win some home games.
  9. We are staying up, we are staying up! What a night, 2 great goals, plenty of time between them to worry especially when the news came through from Inversneckie that Morten were collapsing, crowd in great voice though to cheer the lads home. Nice to see my old school Pollokshields Primary down at the front having a rare old time. That's only the 4th time I've seen Queen's win this season. It's been a long hard road but at least we've got the chance to build properly for next season in the Championship.
  10. Probably our strongest starting line up considering the injury situation.
  11. Veldman is currently on a temporary contract with Club NXT which is the youth section of Club Brugge. Apart from his spell with QP his career has basically been in youth football as was that of Beuker. Handing over complete control of a senior football club to these two was in hindsight a huge mistake. If they had been in charge of our youth setup then in the long term that might have been a good move but we'll never know now!
  12. There were nine players on the bench today - one goalkeeper, five defenders, one attacking midfield player and two strikers. Thanks, Marijn, and your enablers. Hope you're having a swell time at Ajax. Mind you, as others have said, it isn't a get out of jail free card for some of the decisions made by CD of late but he has been dealt a pretty shitty hand.
  13. That's what I was asking myself for most of the game. Surely it takes some serious behind the scenes ructions to produce a performance like that.
  14. A performance that defies description. Three weeks ago we won at Somerset Park, since then we've been dreadful and today was the absolute pits. All the signs of a team that has chucked it.
  15. An embarrassing shambles of a Queen's performance. For the first time since his arrival I find myself questioning Davidson's decision making. That starting line-up left a huge hole where most teams would have a midfield. Unbelievably things got even worse after the substitutions. Anyone who says "bad day at the office" or "free hit" should be banned from Hampden.
  16. Looks like Thomson in defence and the rest is a bit baws oot! There's goals in there, just not sure who'll get the most. Ach, 4-3 for the Queen's.
  17. The clocks go forward on that day so it'll feel like 11am when the game kicks off.
  18. The only move to the right that I welcome: Full announcement - Everyone Move to the Right | Queen's Park Football Club (queensparkfc.co.uk) I can get my old seat back! I wonder where hospitality will be accommodated?
  19. Exactly this. Let's have no more talk of "free hits" especially as every game from now on in is a must win. Airdrie showed the way when they went up to Tannadice and won. This Saturday v Thistle is a huge game for us.
  20. Whit? Does nobody at this club pay attention to the Morton fans? Seriously though, this is a fantastic piece of news.
  21. It was an at times grim spectacle from a QP point of view especially in the total lack of any creativity for most of that second half. At least we had the grit and determination to dig in and salvage a point, something which I doubt we would have done under Veldman. There's still a helluva lot of work to do to fashion a side which can draw clear of the relegation zone. Says it all when the highlight of my matchday has been the tears and snotters of some of the Morton supporters on here. Keep it coming, lads!
  22. Scottish Women's Cup Tie v Bonnyrigg at Lesser is off due to frozen pitch. Not surprising when you see the frost and fog around here. Begs the question though, is there no undersoil heating there?
  23. "Kick Up The Arse!" For a brief second I had a flashback to Father Ted there.
  24. Congratulations to Ruari Paton for not only scoring but also for using the phrase "kick up the arse" in a broad Irish accent on live TV. This QP side still needs a hell of a lot of work on it but I've decided to just enjoy the rest of the evening.
