  1. This thread has gone right down the pan. Weirder than the weirdest Dundee thread.
  2. The problem with our departed team from the Netherlands was that they had next to no experience of managing a senior first team squad. Veldman had a short spell in charge of Anderlecht when they were in between managers and that was about it. Whoever we go for they must have experience of being in charge of a first team and not a youth squad. I would hope that there would still be a place for the remaining Dutch coaches in the academy set up.
  3. This headline in Voetbal International gave me the fear: "The Dutch master is transforming Scottish football: "this is Football Manager in real life." No it wasn't. It was real first team senior football, not an effing computer game. Mind you maybe I'm being unfair as the actual article is behind a pay wall.
  4. There's a bitter irony in that the real architect of this shitshow has skipped the scene of the crime for Ajax. I presume a club like Ajax will give Beuker nothing like the amount of power he was given here. I thought QPmight have kept Veldman but in a strictly academy role. Not nice to see someone lose their job but something had to be done to arrest this decline. Thing is, whover comes in will have the exact same playing squad and that needs urgent repair.
  5. He fair ripped the pish out of us for goal number three. I've said on the match thread that this is a first team pool which might be just about midtable League One standard and that is down to Beuker. The humiliations are coming thick and fast now.
  6. No point in trying to defend Veldman's game management after that second half, but I will concede that he has been left an absolute binfire of a first team pool by the recently skedaddled Beuker. It's a pool overloaded with inexperienced lightweights who would probably struggle to get a mid table finish in League One. I don't see any way out of this except by bringing in some experienced battlers in the January transfer window and I don't think that's going to happen.
  7. I've seen us lose 8 at Ibrox in a Scottish Cup tie, I've seen us lose 6 at Rugby Park in the cup, but both times I stuck it out to the end. Today I walked out with 10 - 15 minutes to go, so pish was that performance. The first time I've left a Queen's game early. Was there anyone left at the end?
  8. Average punter you say? Here's how we cater for them - Amidst all the post match rage and fury (justified) I forgot to congratulate Raith on their performance, in the end they absolutely deserved the result. Way back in January 1967 my dad took me to Hampden to see QP v Raith in the Scottish Cup. Queen's took a 2-0 lead, Raith fought back to 2-2 then Queens' got a late winner. That's the game at which I decided I was a Queen's fan, nigh on 57 years ago and in all that time last Saturday was the worst I've felt at the end of a QP game. Fingers crossed that Raith can knock Dundee Utd off the top and go on to win this division. Oh aye and fingers crossed that we can avoid relegation.
  9. My first thought was that the noise was coming from the whisky tasting event.
  10. If by some chance Raith win this league I hope they give a championship winner's medal to Robin Veldman as he has gifted you 6 points so far, and he's got another 6 to give you, although hopefully he won't be around the next time we play you.
  11. There's no tick box for "bottle" in the standard Beuker player monitoring form. I don't know which was worse, today's shambolic meltdown or the the chaotic defeat v Ayr at Hampden. Actually it's today I think as the whole shambles was condensed into a shorter time period. There are no words for Veldman's decision making.
  12. Young Queen's Park playing at Lesser could have drawn decent wee crowds of locals, unlike the present Lochinch venue which is frankly in the middle of nowhere as far as potential spectators are concerned.
  13. I'm fair looking forward to the Spiders Talk podcast this week. No doubt there will be lots of no-holds-barred, straight-from-the shoulder comments from the guys.
  14. To give the pitch recovery time for a Scotland v Belgium women's international on the following Tuesday. I don't think there's any chance of live streaming of the Ayr game.
  15. Fandance your way to destruction with Robin and Marijn. QP were awful today - slow, predictable, insipid. We really couldn't have complained if Dunfermline had scored four or five. I thought having both Healy and Hepburn in the starting lineup was a mistake, leaving us very weak in midfield. Alarm bells are ringing loud and clear and there really needs to be a massive improvement in the Ayr game next Friday. I thought Louis Longridge was great today and at least Veldman didn't hook him for some 17 year old, so maybe he's learning.
  16. Yup, too many unknowns to call this one. However I am looking forward to having a half decent view of what's happening on the far side of the pitch for once.
  17. Yep, I bought my first season ticket around 2004 and ST holders could definitely use the comfy seats. I'm sure it was stated explicitly when the club sent out notification to renew. In fact as a season ticket holder I would occasionally buy comfy seat tickets for a couple of friends in one of the rooms off to the side of the centre stand reception area . I kept using the centre stand right up to 2020 and usually sat in the same seat with much the same people round about me. Except for the time I arrived to find Mixu Paatelainen in my usual seat!
  18. Mal Boateng would be an ideal fit for the new Dutch style Queen's, especially in that area of playing out of defence into midfield. He would also add a nice touch of steel in there which would help us cope with the inevitable opposition high press. Conversely the new playing system and training methods would help Mal develop as a player. A season long loan or even a push the boat out Gretna style signing would suit both parties at this time.
  19. Away kit is a cracker but the home kit while not as disastrous as I thought it would be is definitely a hurrumph from me. Those sleeves!
  20. I suppose the people responsible for this state of affairs are in this photo lording it over the riff-raff and still utterly convinced that they have been providing "sound governance." It's a shame that negativity has to rear its ugly head at a time which should be so positive for the club. A return to Hampden will cost the club a six figure sum every season and leave us with the old problem of Queen's playing in a stadium which is far too big for us. If the committee had been able to plan and administer the stadium project properly we could have looked forward to playing in a Lesser with a capacity of 3500 - 4000 which would have been far more suitable for the Championship. Going by the way the Committee have conducted themselves throughout this whole sorry saga I can't see that ever happening. BTW did Stephen Eze play in the bounce game today?
  21. I googled a few more Dutch articles that used the term "stuntclub" (wat is een stuntclub?). It seems to mean a club that has surprised people by performing better than expected. One example was NAC Breda being the only club outwith the Eredivisie to reach the quarter finals of the KNVB Cup last season. Another example was Sparta Rotterdam who had a great run in the Eredivisie this season. I think for a large part of this season Queen's were a "stuntclub" with our totally unexpected charge to the top of the Championship.
