  1. Oi, I'll have you know that there are 6 rows of seats in our magnificent new stand. The front row is so low down that it's hidden by the boundary wall in most photographs. Not recommended for shortarses. Anyway we've already won the award for worst stadium in the Championship 2023-24 and season 2022-23 isn't even over yet.
  2. You would think that given the utter car crashes of the stadium farce and the expulsion from the Scottish Cup these raging incompetents would have at least learned a bit of humility. I suspect that they've become a self reinforcing group constantly telling each other how brilliantly they're doing and that they have no need to listen to anyone else. I'm not a member, just a supporter for the last 56 years so I'm not privy to the inner workings of the committee and its relationship to the rest of the membership, but I'm astonished that the same group have managed to remain on the committee over the last few years and somehow not been voted off.
  3. More photos around the perimeter of Lesser Hampden, starting with the home turnstiles at the south east corner - Round to the back of the East Stand, first up is the entrance for hospitality (they'll have to walk round to the pavilion for their nibbles and booze) - A closer view - Nearer to Somerville Drive we find the away turnstile and exit - And a closer view for you away fans -
  4. Photos of Lesser Hampden taken on Monday coincidentaly as OC was leaving the club -
  5. He's a Craig Levein mini-me. Guaranteed stadium emptier, if we had a stadium. Or a decent sized crowd come to think of it. (thanks, committee) Ketts incoming!
  6. Nine goals lost in two games. I don't think I've ever seen a worse defence anywhere.
  7. Congratulations to Dundee, you clearly deserved that win. Team with biggest budget in the league wins league and I'm talking about first team budget. The money going into QP is spent on the academy and community projects. One look at that QP bench tells you that this isn't a Gretna style attempt to buy a league title. I haven't plucked up the courage to watch the thoughts of Owen Coyle yet, and I fear I never will. There's lots to praise for the way he's dragged this unlikely combination of players to within a hairsbreadth of winning the Championship but equally he has to take the criticism for the glaring deficiencies in the team which haven't been addressed over the last couple of months. What now? For Dundee it could be a real struggle in the Premiership unless they strengthen. For Queen's - I can't see them being promoted through the playoffs and they will need big changes if they're going to put in any kind of challenge in the league next season.
  8. Could we also add a proctologist to our very numerous backroom staff please? Possible case of gigantic arse collapse. Or alternatively as bridgeofweirdo says (more or less) just get it together for 90 minutes. 90 minutes from glory - do it Queen's! Do it for all the fans who have never seen the side in the top league of Scottish football. There must be very few left who witnessed our last spell in the top tier.
  9. I agree with this. I don't think we had a particularly good window in January. On my shopping list were another central defender, an energetic midfield thug, and a centre forward, preferably all "proper" signings and not loanees. And that was my list before Simon Murray left. We seem to be back in the Ellis and immediate post Ellis days with a dependency on loanees and a surfeit of "attacking midfielders" or wingers. Unfortunately not many loan players turn out to be as good as Mal Boateng. Can Owen Coyle haul our unlikely mixture over the line again?
  10. Both teams transformed from a couple of months ago. Queen's now a shambles with individual players like Boateng and Savoury a mere shadow of what they were earlier in the season and teamwise, well, nobody seems to know what anyone else is doing.
  11. You have to laugh ... has everyone except Ferrie and Thomas chucked it?
  12. Absolutely putrid from Queen's in the second half. An embarrassment.
  13. The Third Lanark Rifle Volunteers drill hall was in Coplaw Street. Honestly, GM1867 went to all the trouble of posting a map and Sandy Cromarty went to the trouble of learning everything. There was a drill hall in Butterbiggins Road belonging to the First Lanarkshire Volunteer Artillery and later the territorials. It was demolished in 2021. Ask Sandy, he kens the score as they say up there. I'm sticking with my 1-1 prediction as my glass is always half empty.
  14. A great summary of all the interesting stuff you've learned. Dundee, Morton and Inverness fans may hijack match threads with gratuitous abuse but QP fans will overwhelm you with fascinating historical information. As for the game - Queen's have been blowing hot and cold recently, Inverness are on a high with a possible cup final looming, so I'm not confident about this one at all. A 1-1 draw.
  15. I certainly do blame Sandy Cromarty! Just to even things up - the Buffalo Bill tour of 1904 performed in Inverness on the 2nd and 3rd of September. The venue was a field on Dalneigh Farm, near Bruce Gardens, opposite Victoria Park. The area is now covered by housing but the field was probably near the present day Laurel Avenue.
  16. The Drill Ground on Dixon Road was the venue for the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show from the first to the sixth of August 1904. By that time the adjacent original Cathkin Park was lying empty as Thirds had moved up the road to their new Cathkin Park, i.e. the recently vacated Second Hampden. Buffalo Bill's visit to Ibrox for the Rangers v Queen's Park Glasgow Cup tie was during the show's extended residency in 1891-92 at the former East End Industrial Exhibition Hall in Dennistoun. Queen's won 3-0. I think we might be getting off topic here.
  17. It's the Glasgow Merchants' Charity Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers at first Cathkin in May 1895. 4-0 for Celtic who were playing in black shorts and white shirts with green vertical stripes.
  18. A cheeky wee draw please. And a few orderings off with subsequent suspensions.
  19. I told you, we should be going after Cartha next. Most (perhaps all) of the land we are talking about belongs to Pollok and Corrour who are basically the Stirling- Maxwell family. They are the original owners of Pollok Estate, a portion of which they gifted to Glasgow Corporation in 1967. That bequest included Pollok House, the land on which the Burrell was built and what today constitutes Pollok Country Park. Other areas (larger than the Country Park) remained in the ownership of the Stirling- Maxwells. So lands such as Shawholm, Nether Pollok, Haggs Castle Golf Club and Lochinch are leased, not owned by their occupiers.
  20. We can but hope that the sequence of events doesn't leave Queen's looking like the villains of the piece here. If QP can play a part in helping Polloc CC then that would be all to the good for both clubs.
  21. Maybe we could take out Cartha QP Rugby Football Club next? I'm very uneasy about the way the good folk at Polloc CC are being treated.
