  1. Indeed. I wish Macca would stop saying there's deals in place or something will be completed within the next couple of days. Appreciate he's only answering honestly from his perspective but that's a few times now he's been burned.
  2. That sky interview is basically 5 minutes of nothing. I wouldn't be very open with Kris Boyd either tbh
  3. Big nope on Middleton. He's been very poor for 2 seasons, the short spell at the end of the double signing looks like the outlier
  4. Agree, but accepted standards are also far too low within the club. The signing policy is promising though, hopefully the start of a return to normal at the club.
  5. McLennan 100% would've signed for us if Davidson was still here. agree that Maclean has to be pragmatic, it's the only way we're going to survive with this team. If he becomes bogged down obsessing over a system or a set way of playing, we're no further forward than we would've been under Davidson. I'd argue Davidson had the players, the tools and the authority to play any way he wanted at Saints. He had 37 first team players - each he either had the final say in signing or gave contract extensions to - so I have very little sympathy for the plight he found himself in. A simple change in shape and playing a hit further up the park made all the difference for us last season with players Davidson had at his disposal. He was just hopelessly out of his depth and/or too arrogant to admit what he was trying to do wasn't working.
  6. I think 3 more signings or not, we're still in a lot of bother. That's the legacy left by giving a dead parrot manager a ridiculously huge budget and permission to sign far too many players, most of whom have no quality. I'm not convinced giving the assistant manager from the last two years the job on a full time basis was a good idea to be honest. Styles are chalk and cheese but how he's managed to sidestep criticism for that time period doesn't sit right with me. I felt we needed a clean out at the time and, whilst he's saying all the right things, targeting the right kind of players, he has to shoulder some of the responsibility for the previous two years too. He obviously has my full backing now he's in the job and will be patient whilst he tries to solve what currently looks like an unsolvable puzzle.
  7. Beatson taking some time off pitch invading and missing all timers in Norway to appear on the BBC. Some boy
  8. It would've been 2012/13 he played for us, he was with us under Lomas I'm sure
  9. Liam caddis and David McMillan too, some real dynamos
  10. Really encouraging business done by Maclean so far. We've managed to anger half of the English lower league fraternity two Fridays in a row, keep them coming bois.
  11. Great result for our U18s today though, beat Rangers 3-0 with McCrystal scoring twice and Ellison once
  12. Christ Callum Davidson will be trying to sign him.
  13. Starting to wonder this myself. Definitely giving off a whiff of Stevie May 2019 right now.
  14. Carey's form last season wasn't great and Wright looked much more effective at wing back too. Essentially, there are green shoots but the team does still look a bit of a mess.
  15. Luke Jephcott? Edit: some record for Plymouth (and in league one) to be fair.
  16. In fairness there's something out there to suggest we're in for him. Maclean just said we've got two deals agreed but one of them is complicated. Very good chance we're putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5
  17. Euan Murray might be the complicated one as we would've been waiting for him to arrange his release. Quite excited to see who the new signing is for today.
  18. Hope they didn't watch that today or there will be none
  19. Goalkeepers Dimitar Mitov - 2025 Ross Sinclair - 2024 Jack Wills - 2024 Defenders/wing backs James Brown - 2024 Ryan McGowan - 2024 Liam Gordon - 2024 Andy Considine- 2024 Liam Parker - 2024 Callum Booth - 2024 Tony Gallacher - 2024 Midfielders/wingers Drey Wright - 2024 Max Kucheriavyi - 2025 Daniel Phillips - 2024 Cammy McPherson - 2024 Ali Crawford -2024 Cammy Ballantyne - 2024 Alex Ferguson - 2025 Graham Carey - 2024 Attackers Stevie May - 2025 Nicky Clark - 2025 Chris Kane - January 2024 Taylor Steven - 2024 Loans ended Remi Matthews Alex Mitchell Adam Montgomery Connor McLennan Zak Rudden Left the club Elliot Parish Bobby Dailly David Wotherspoon Spencer Moreland William Sandford Murray Davidson Melker Hallberg Charlie Gilmour Michael O’Halloran Jamie Murphy Eetu Vertainen Theo Bair The standard of the one signing we've made as well as the performances shown by the young players in pre-season makes me feel more optimistic about the future than I've felt for a while. Was a baw hair away from adding McCrystal, Franczak and Mylchreest to the squad list above because of the levels they produced against East Fife but will wait to see if any of them (or indeed any of the other young players) make any appearances/impression in the league cup first.
  20. That looks like an excellent signing. Well done Saints and fair play to Macca for not just accepting a poor alternative because it would've been easy.
  21. Probably the first free transfer to be excited about in quite some time. Really pleased to see us targeting a player in this way and not just signing recognisable names from 2014. Still a lot of work to (only 20% there if we are making 5 signings) but an encouraging start.
  22. I can't say I've seen enough of him yet to form an opinion. Hasn't dropped any clangers and he's commanded the box well and taken pressure off at corners a few times by collecting the ball. Certainly doesn't seem to have the distance in his kicking that Zander did
  23. The 6-3 which resulted in us not trying a back 4 again (and only twice from the start under Davidson) until we played rangers in the January. Must be said though, Mitov is a much higher profile signing than I was expecting. If that's the standard Maclean is looking for and he's not willing to settle for a 'do a job' signings then fair play to him. The youngsters have all shown they're of a good standard this pre-season as well. They're maybe not ready to play 30 times a season but there looks like a few who could cover for us and maybe break in to the team later.
