Worth noting that Perth has had an SNP MP for 28(twenty eight) years.

Longest any part of Scotland/constituency has had an SNP MP too. As we're all just massive self hating tories who are punishing ourselves at every election.

Anyway, back to the football. Is it not about time the club start reviewing the sport science/training methods/physios at the club? We've had a big problem with injuries for a couple of years now. It's not just bad luck.

My main point was that we went downhill when the guys running the club didn't want to be there any more. Everything was stale and it transferred to the park. I think you're in that boat now.

So yeah, nae luck. Think you need the club to be sold pronto.

Geoff will be thinking the same, won't get anywhere near what he wants if the club is in the championship.

agree with the general point you've made in your first post, but if you in any way paid attention to us since the cup double (and no harm to you if you haven't been) you'd see Davidson was miles out of his depth. Problem is, we gave him what was in essence a 4 year deal following the double success ( who wouldn't have?) and how do you go about sacking a manager who's achieved such astonishing levels of success at a club like ours? Even after two years of abject failure in just about every department, we still had pundits saying it was a terrible decision and some of our own fans throwing strops because he had been let go. The mess we're in this season has been foreseeable really ever since we won both cups, we rested on our laurels then panic signed far too many old, substandard players on long, expensive contracts to try and bail Davidson out. This is the penance for that now. Maclean has recruited 6 players, all of whom seem to be the right types for the long term future of the club, but really it's starting look like bandaging over a beheading.  Seems like 3 or 4 more are anticipated to be coming in, all need to be pretty much perfect and starting quality, otherwise I don't think we have enough currently here to even be competitive.

  3. The 10 injured players, when you break it down, don't really provide many answers either

Wills and Sinclair are back up goalkeepers ans have played 4 games between them.

Brown, Booth and Gallacher improve us at full back but would they play for any other team in the top flight? Doubt it

Wright will improve us and is one of our better players

Macpherson, same as the full backs for me

    Crawford

Kane and Clark both improve us but I think you play Kane as a lone striker or you partner Clark with May, I don't see them gelling all that well as a partnership.

If it hadn't been for the new signings yesterday, I think we were down to about 7 senior players who were with us last season, the rest being kids and/or out on loan elsewhere.

Its why he got the Job! A younger person(In football management terms) looking for a break in management he is not going to turn it down! Three year contract depends on the wage he is getting as well !

Who would have taking the job on who is experienced?

We have to back him now because he's in situ, but going for the continuity candidate when things were so bad for so long just sums up how half arsed everything was towards the end of Steve Brown's tenure.  We clearly needed a fresh start after the malaise set in with Davidson.

  5. He's saying this has been two years in the making. He's absolutely right, a lot of us have been talking about it for much of the last two years when it became clear Davidson was building for short term success. Maclean has been here for all of that time. I'm sorry but he has to take at least some responsibility for where we are now, the captain hindsight act doesn't cut it for me.

  6. Even taking into account the injuries (which is another fair question to pose the club, why are there always so many?) that was completely unacceptable. We looked beaten from the first minute and the goalkeeper/poor finishing on the part of County made the score look semi respectable.

1 fit right back, and he's played 2 senior professional games in his whole career at 22, no left backs, 1 fit winger and absolutely no pace anywhere in the team. We are a complete shambles.

    Nicky Clark - 2025

    Luke Jephcott - 2025

    Chris Kane - January 2024

    Taylor Steven - 2024

26 mentioned here and I've not included the likes of McCrystal (who probably has as much of a right to be mentioned here as Taylor, Wills and Parker do).

I'd suggest we could probably do with getting Parker, Steven, Ferguson and maybe Kucheriavyi out on loan and shot of Crawford completely which brings us back down to 21/22.

I do feel we need more options wide than Carey and Wright. I know Kucheriavyi has filled in there but I think he's better centrally.  I feel we need 2 more and that's subject to us not losing anyone else, either to injury or unexpectedly leaving.

  8. Smith announced and immediately available for selection

That's 5 signings now done, all permanent, all young and who look like they'll improve the squad at least, if not the first team. Big props to the club for getting these done. I'd like to see us sign a wide player and maybe another attacking player (winger who can play up top or vice versa, in the mould of Matty Kennedy) and I think we can be really pleased with Macca's rebuild.

if we could get shot of Crawford and find a good loan home for some of the young boys then it's mission accomplished for me. It might not save us this year but certainly gives a lot more to be optimistic about going forward.

I think today is going to be a struggle, I hope the fans stay with the team. We have an inexperienced manager and a young team now, I don't think getting on their backs is going to help anyone.
