  1. Gut feeling is that he knows getting fit for next season will be beyond him and he'll announce retirement. McPake had more than long enough to put out a team that worked without him, unfortunately with the squad he assembled he couldn't get them to perform.
  2. Missing Adam? Hasn't played as much as we'd hope but without him..... Sorry, McCowan was good mid part of season but has been woeful recently, constantly just giving the ball away. Anderson has been better than that but is still a bit weak for this level, needs to strengthen up to make the impact required. I like both, and they are young with potential, but can't say they have been better than CK.
  3. Ok, go on, lets see your list of players that have been consistently better. (from earlier I think you will choose McGhee who's been way off it this season, in a position that clearly doesn't suit him at PL Level. Stick him back in defence and I hope he'll regain his form/confidence of a couple of seasons back when he was our POY and clearly better than CK)
  4. No. Yet again we have drafted in another player to be RB and Kerr is, again, better than them (granted DC may go on to be a better RB but certainly isn't now). For a while until virtually everyone realised that Kerr was better. When was the last time Elliot was preferred over Kerr when both have been fit? I think the main point here is that Cammy has been one of our better performers this season, yet, as seems usual nowadays, there are a number of posters on here lining him up for criticism above others performing more poorly. Name the players against The Rangers last Sunday, for example, that were better than him?
  5. Kerr is playing right back because he's the best we have and was only left back because of Mashall injury/he's gash. No doubt you have celebrated the signing of the likes of Horsefield and Elliot and regarded them as proper right backs. The way the team has played for years has left our full backs exposed and put in a position of receiving unfair criticism when the reality is that a succession of managers have been totally clueless. With Adam, McMullen and Sweeney I'd say he's been one of our best performers this season (I know, not saying much) and of those probably the most consistent over the season so far.
  6. Think what we've been watching is getting to me. Making me mad and depressed. I want somewhere nice and quite where I can be by myself. So, I went and bought a ticket for the South Enclosure for tomorrow
  7. From the BBC today "Dundee defeated Peterhead in the last 16, 3-0. It was only the second time this season (Ross County 0-3 Dundee, Scottish League Cup group stage) they scored three goals away from home." These 3 goals against County were, of course, Covid Goals. Makes Covid one of our highest scorers this season
  8. We need a manager with a decent amount of experience. With Kelty KT inherited a club in a good position, at Dundee it's an utter sh*tfest. The two positions couldn't be further apart. Maybe unpopular but TW would fit the position exactly, and could see him having a few great "discussions" with Nelms. Oh I suppose he'd never appoint such a manager, much prefers a lapdog.
  9. Bigger bug-bear for me was Byrne's total lack of awareness/effort to close their guy down and prevent the cross which he could have done easily. Other teams work hard to ensure we don't get time, we have Byrne sauntering around even though he came on as a sub and should have had plenty of energy. We need players willing to put their body on the line, hopefully Gowser can come back in and do that, though its pretty dire when we're at the stage that the lack of options are so clearly limited.
  10. I'm not going to judge McGhee on tonight. We know we were weakened and without Adam we've only picked up 2 points this season. Personally, I'd send Rossi home now, that was just pathetic, and can't say I was impressed by Byrne either, seems to suck the life out the team at the moment. The Rangers games a free hit, then serious time begins
  11. Can we build upon the 2 points without Charlie tonight? Not sure St Mirren are playing as badly as Motherwell, or Hibs, at moment. With injuries and close contact isolation period for covid continuing we'll be like Saturday I suppose, missing a bit from midfield, no recognised striker and the (poor) reserve keeper's reserve. Could be excruciating but I'd take a 0-0
  12. So you don't believe in helping the over stressed nurses and doctors in the NHS? Flockwits that don't believe in keeping infections down for the most vulnerable in society, are you like Thatcher, and don't believe in that kind of thing? Selfish basterds of the world unite... Cunetos that think of themselves above the team, get rid of them, not what we should be supporting
  13. I've been triple vaccinated and still got it. That is not the point though. The issue is with players that do not have Covid but are seen as close contacts. They have to isolate because they are not vaccinated, not because they have Covid.
  14. and not forgetting the management team for not pushing them for when the inevitable comes
  15. "And, as a result, some members of the squad missed out against Hibernian due to isolation periods. Testing ahead of tomorrow's match at Fir Park has returned another positive case and, as a result, a further five players have been identified as close contacts and some further players will have to isolate as a result." Players who are triple vaccinated and testing negative even if they have been identified as close contacts do not need to self-isolate. Sounds like we have players that have chosen not to get vaccinated and are dropping the whole club it it. Another case of lack of professionalism? If we play and lose on the back of this.....
  16. I have, for the last couple of seasons under McPake, thought that a half decent manager can get quite a bit more from the current squad so a sprinkling of good additions could go a long way. That said, the results without Charlie are more than pretty grim and it's going to be more difficult for him to keep his, already limited, level of fitness up
  17. easy to get a bit depressed / just laugh at what's currently going on because what else can you do. In a way the performance against Livi highlighted where our problems lie. If we had lost by one goal it could have been written off as an individual error whereas the truth is the approach to defending, including the part the midfielders should play, has never been drummed into this team as a unit. McGee surely could not fail to see that and should be addressing it. He clearly realised that changing from a back 5 to back 4 was required and how long did it take McPake to figure that out? The players surely know that their performance against Livi was shambolic and should be open to taking on board what is required to play as a team. Now, will this ever (over?) optimistic analysis come back to bite me......
  18. Unfortunately we've just tied up current players with extended contracts, is it only Elliot, McDaid and Mullen not signed up for next season?
  19. Not popular, and its not as if I think they are likeable, but I'd take Adams and Wright in a flash. Kind of people to really sort things out. As others have noted it's not as if Ross has a great track record
  20. Can't see Jack ross being lined up, he's been public about the Aberdeen gig. Surely this has been lined up for a while (hence sacked after 2 wins) giving the new manager a chance to view at Celtic then be in charge for St. Mirren game
  21. With McPake now being current manager longer than managers of Ross Co., DABS, Celtic, Rangers, Hibs and Aberdeen put together. So much for stability being good... (personally I'd go for the fat grass, note, he was sacked with a far higher points per game in the Championship than McPake had)
  22. Good, now that's finally settled we could use the cash saved to be rid of another
  23. We can still support the players and have chants of McPake out, McPake out... May lead to fights in the Derry with those, wildly, accepting the current malaise. A load voice rather than a missing one should surely have more impact
  24. Depends if we've signed him and are just keeping the DABs guessing....and us too
  25. Suspect he'll sign tomorrow as today is final day with Celtic
