  1. Yip, Marshall out and Panter still can't make the team. Feels like a blessing that I've never seen him play. One or two injuries today and...
  2. Elliot Gowser McMullen Adam McCowan with Mullen up top or McMullen Gowser Mullen Adam McCowan with Griffiths up top pleeeease no Elliot at RB and as for Kerr DM !!!!! McPake tombola though
  3. As a rule we have looked best this season with 4-5-1 Always better when we put round pegs in round holes too. We still need better quality in some positions and the squad is still not balanced. With our budget we should still be doing better than we are and I don't think McPake is going to ever really get the team performing as it should. Happy to get the points today but that doesn't change my thoughts on getting rid sooner rather than later
  4. Imagine the discussion between McPake and Nelms after last night. "So James, what were you trying and what do you think now". "Oh, I thought Cummings on the wing was going catch them unawares. I admit I was a bit surprised at the pace in their team as I hadn't got round to looking at them play. Anyway, wasn't going to get suckered into playing their game so I took off our fastest player and replaced his wide midfielder position with another striker. With our vastly experienced, though admittedly ageing and a bit slow central midfield of Adam and McGowan, I'm really surprised we didn't blow them away. Must have been just a glitch tonight, sure we'll be fine on Saturday." "Alright then, carry on"
  5. Only one problem to me with this, it's pish. The first goal was flogged by Ashcroft, allowing a player to turn and get a shot in, however poor, is just criminal. From that point on we were toast, certainly not on top as you make out. For the second goal Kerr makes a tackle outside the box but the way the ball ricochets and they come together luckily allows their player to get up and move on. Ashcroft just looks at him instead of closing him down and then Marshall doesn't mark his man. Blaming Kerr for everything is just plain wrong. He's played ok this season. Personally, I'd move McGee to right CH to help shore up the defence and hire a manager that knows what he's doing. Far more important than the Kerr position (who is miles better than previous wasted budget "improvements", Horsefield and Elliot)
  6. That's not Christie Elliot, and why do mention Sunday specifically
  7. Can't believe the council have said that we can't use South Enclosure. Will be raging if they don't open this area. Should have been part of the initial plan!
  8. Had hoped for Arbroath away but Motherwell at home is one to look forward to.
  9. Frustrated challenge but I would say a booking was right and not as bad as McPake is making out. Replay would be helpful of course, better go take a look if it's on Dee tv. Biggest plus last night was when McCowan and Anderson came on, both were excellent and worked really well together. I thought a loan was the right move for Anderson but I really hope he can make a big impact this season. Downside was Jacobiak, far from convinced he is SPL standard, and Byrne, maybe that type of game doesn't suit him but he had such little impact. Would give plus marks to all the rest.
  10. was fearful that we wouldn't get tickets for Montrose but that's my one purchased - an away game!!!
  11. If we get Westwood I can't imagine he'll be cheap. I'm happy with Legzdins and would rather spend the budget on a top level potential CH, left winger and striker with a cheaper goalie back-up (and emergency loan if required). Prefer all to be in the 21-24 yo range where their best years are ahead of them.
  12. Are you sure. Why were we able to sell him to Celtic? Would say there is a decent chance he is going to stay at Celts for a while now anyway
  13. I've been really impressed with Anderson and he could become a key player for us in the top flight. Do think he will have limited game time this season and to develop quicker he would be better loaned out - my preference would be Raith, think he would fit in perfectly with their style of play
  14. I turned up at 7 50 with a 7pm allocation, naebody else queuing. Went in and had an aisle seat! Not sure why we required 75 mins to get only 500 fans in and how the hell it was organised. Singing was fabulous with nobody having a go at any of the players. Shame way less than half of us around my seat joined in the singing. Wish it had been a prerequisite of getting a ticket, would have been something else then.
  15. Got the call!!! Well my son did but same difference! Will be cheering on now regardless of which team/set up McPake gives us.
  16. Will be surprised if Fontaine is back so McGee CB and Anderson CM. Put Charlie on bench first half with McDaid in and see how game pans out. And hopefully he gets them stuck in, don't let them build their play, a la first half at home recently
  17. Probably but you should remember our commentators are way short of the quality of yours
  18. Don't like that line up at all. Hopefully Adam wide left in a 4411 but Anderson missing and Fontaine at the back, unless he is totally fit, is just wrong. And Marshall on the bench, thought he was ready
  19. I'll be feeling confident if we play a sensible team, queue McPake tombola time (e.g. McGee back into midfield, McDaid on and drop Adam), and/or trying to hold on if we get a goal, instead of playing to our strengths. Problem is, he just doesn't seem to learn. I was really impressed a few weeks back with Raith when they gave Dunfermline a hiding but not much evidence that that kind of performance is replicated regularly. So fingers crossed on team selection
  20. I think some may need reminding that after some pretty poor performances from Elliot, Kerr was back in the side. When Marshall got injured Kerr moved to left back and Elliot came on. Kerr should not be dropped, particularly after his recent performances, and Marshall in his natural left back position is the way to go
  21. Rather sorry to read this. In hindsight what do you think they should have done last season? I agree Thistle were hard done by, as were Hearts, but it came down to enough games had been played to make a decision as no more games were going to be played. Now it would have been fun to deny the Arabs the title but would that have been fair? We missed out on a potential playoff promotion, was that fair? Are you going to boycott every team that voted the same way as Dundee or is it just because our vote came in late?
  22. If we'd played all season like we have in the last 2 1/2 games then we'd all be happy. McPake has been unbelievably slow to work out anything close to a working team with some of his realisations coming from injuries forcing the situation (remember Kerr in midfield before Anderson, McDaid injury allowing Adam back in, etc). He does look like he is there now and if he does get us up I have no doubt he will be here next season given he would have achieved what was hoped for. We still drop out of games and, given we don't have the 1st round play-offs, a few days just working on fitness (games could go to extra time) would be advisable. Kerr been fine at left back but he still looks like a player shoe-horned in. Any news on Marshall? If he can come back then get Kerr to right back. I'm glad to have McGee back in defence with his relative pace (another lucky break?) POY Charlie, worthy mentions to Legzdins, McMullen, Gowser, Cumdog - last minute winner to anyone who does the business in the play offs Maybe it's the hope that ends up killing you - I'm just really looking forward to the upcoming games, bring 'em on
  23. Could be a classic case of we've nothing to play for, so go out and express yourself without fear v we have to win so don't concede, pressure building as the game goes on. Probably be better for us to lose a goal early and then be forced to go for it. Queens surely happy they are safe, seem to recall their was a point in the season they would have snapped your hand off for that
  24. If only we could have had Raith's commentators for that, class above ours. My least favourite was "both players misjudged that" when Elliot totally wiped out a Raith player - embarrassing. Thought the Raith' penalty claim was a dive but really need a slow motion replay to tell. The red card looked soft to me - more a booking. Far from easy but, as the result Inverness showed, that if you turn up you can beat teams like Ross Co. so well worth the battle ahead. Can imagine Dunfermline will give a large number of their players a rest next Friday while Dees and Raith battle for 2nd
  25. Don't think it's too late to get McGee back into central defence, even if that means two natural right centre backs. Not mentioned that I have seen, Fontaine is getting slower by the week and has begun to drop back breaking our offside line - yes, that was how we lost the goal midweek. If he's to be any use he has to be put on a fitness regime, rather than being geared up to play, for at least a week. Hopefully we don't have a McGee Byrne CM partnership again, just devoid of any attacking flair - hopefully Gowser Anderson will be fine for rest of season. Full game time for Adam (for McDaid I say) or entry at half time, not sure? And at least some game-time for Jakubiak, like to see what he might offer for play-offs (assuming we make them). Maybe controversial but Afolabi is just too easily brushed off the ball, looked promising, however, just not enough fight in his game for me, Sow has at least been trying recently
