  1. Ex player, high profile, managed around the world, pal of Shinnie, media magnet, WAG thrown in, available.... Rooney (Wayne)
  2. I was at all those games! Jinky Smith at Dens Park was the best he ever was and that’s a very high bar. The semi was very poor game. We played the European champions in the final so I suppose we did ok although I didn’t think so at the time.
  3. Sorry to hear this. He was a top notch full back in an era when there was quite a few around including Chalky White his long term partner. I can remember a specific Ally Shewan dying minutes sliding tackle in a 1967 cup tie at Easter Road to secure the draw. We won the replay 3-0. ETA - Just looked this up on AFC Heritage, 37,000 at Easter Road, 44,000 at Pittodrie.
  4. I’m not actually sure how it’s a problem that someone “chucked money” at us anyway. Is it not basically the job of club owners to chuck money or, even better, get someone else to. Basically that’s the difference between dealing with financial hits or failing to do so and in extreme mismanagement cases going into admin.
  5. Our appeal was frivolous. Theirs was staunch.
  6. No mention of our pounds per point score in the league though.
  7. Seventh most efficient team in Europe apparently. Did we not get 6 coefficient points?
  8. No, it's the police who occasionally advise that. They also of course give out general advice not to travel which should be taken on board whether you're travelling to a game, shopping, visiting etc. The SPFL priority is to get the game played if possible and that includes both teams getting there safely and the pitch being fit for use. Ross County today couldn't get down the A9 but Motherwell were in Aberdeen and the pitch playable. I can't speak for AFC management but a few thousand less in the crowd is chicken shit compared to more fixtures backlog.
  9. Fine night for a game of fitba. Two hours to go as well.
  10. For me the main reason for wanting the cheeks out of Scottish fitba is to rid us of their sectarian shite. Never mind any reduction in revenue that alone would be worth it. The irony is that participation in an English league would invariably mean that both clubs would have to do something about it i.e. disclaim and get rid of the whole routine. It would not be tolerated in that league. Of course they could do that now but choose not to.
  11. Tell me you don't know what "two cheeks of the same arse" means without telling me you don"t know what "two cheeks of the same arse" means
  12. When they were down 1-0 as well. Fitba, bloody hell!
  13. In extra time as well. Well I'll go to the fit o' oor stair!
  14. Anyway, penalty to Rangers. Who'd've believed it eh?
  15. Also remember the 86 final where a pretty decent heart’s defence (Jardine, Levine and maybe Whittaker) gave McDougall a hard time. He dragged them all over the shop and Hewitt and Stark got the goals.
  16. What I remember best about Frank was how simple he made it, almost casual. He would just get himself where he should be and stick the ball away when it invariably arrived bearing in mind the quality of his teammates. Nae bother. Blessed with two good feet and a decent sprint. Imagine a scorer like that having a full career in Scotland never mind with Clydebank, St Mirren and the Dons. RIP to a legend.
  17. Aye, pretty poor and petty to boot. He actually played more games for Aberdeen than them as well as winning 3 of his 5 caps with us. Fair enough he made his name initially with them but it's pretty poor journalism not to reference what is a decent story.
  18. Just for completeness I’d like to say that Barron may or may not play at a higher level than us.
  19. Any ology type students out there looking for the meaning of “institutional” as in “institutional bigotry” need only read on here the rational behind people aligning with mass bigotry.
  20. To be fair I believe a lot of Celtic fans are still fizzing about the Lutheran Princes letter of protestation in 1529.
  21. I like it. I have usually given my DNA free top to my grandkids but last season my (42 yr old) son intervened so he got it. This year it'll go to the oldest grandson who will wear any top of any colour as long as it's black.
  22. Aye, nothing will top that. Written by a guy who would jump ship to GB News for an extra fiver.
