  1. Great touch from Wighton initially to get it under control, the back heel is even better. Glad he's getting good reviews there. Will be an important player for us next year, and hopefully many more if he keeps progressing. Anyone know how long his loan is? I seem to recall it's only short term, might even play a part this season.
  2. Not sure either to be honest, although I do remember Aberdeen getting a fee for Aluko. Don't know how long he was there for though.
  3. If we offer him a deal before the end of his contract would we not be due a development fee because he's under 24?
  4. I know the Bulgarian can play as a holding midfielder too, I wonder if this is worth trying out. It's unreal how easy teams get at out back four, maybe someone sitting in front of them will stop that. In saying that I think Konrad would benefit from being out of the team at the minute, from has seriously dipped recently.

  6. The only time I've seen him play was a couple of years ago against Falkirk in the Scottish cup semi final. Seemed to tear them apart second half and scored a cracking goal if I remember correctly. Can he play on both sides?

  8. I'd give The Tank a go up top with Stewart in the hole behind him. That's definitely his best position. It would mean dropping Harkins but I'd be alright with that to be honest, think Stewart will give us a lot more than Harkins does and a bit more consistently. Only problem is then who can we put left wing.
  9. I doubt it too, but it's just something I heard at the game today.
  10. Heard that Boyle is off to Hibs on loan. Must be looking to bring in a wide man. Wasn't one of the Bulgarian boys a winger? Also heard we are bringing in the other Bulgarian.
  11. I see we've called Dylan back from his loan spell. Anyone think he'll be in the squad for Saturday? Seems strange as I thought his loan was up at the end of the month anyway.
  12. We had the best defensive record in the league last year did we not? Agree he was pretty poor though.
  13. Is it January his loan finishes? Think he might have a fairly big part to play when he's back. Seems to be a skilful player with an eye for goal! Anyone know if he can play on the wing? I know he's been playing centre mid for Arbroath but we are pretty well covered there.
  14. Given that standard of opposition I would expect it to be different! You're right though, it does place extra emphasis on the two 'wide' midfielders in the diamond. If they're doing their job then the full backs won't be as exposed. A lot to ask though IMO for them to provide adequate cover and create chances. The only two players with the legs and energy to play those positions are McAllister and McGowan.
  15. The problem with not playing wingers is that the full backs (or wing backs) become a lot more exposed. It was most apparent in the Partick game earlier in the season. In the first half we couldn't get out because they constantly doubled up on our full backs.
  16. Agree with this. As well as Irvine has done playing out of position, we badly miss a natural LB. It so obvious when we like to get the full backs involved, breaks down with Irvine as he's always cutting in onto his right and crowding the middle of the park even further. Would still prefer to see us playing with wingers though, rather than relying totally on our full backs for width. Boyle and Stewart for me, Roberts seems to drift in and out too often.
  17. I agree that the pace of the build up play is usually the problem, but sometimes you need blistering pace. Scares defenders, wins free kicks, gets in behind and creates space. For me Boyle is a better option than Roberts because he is more willing to help out his fullback defensively, even if his end product sometimes isn't great.
  18. The way I saw the red card was that Armstrong knew he didn't have the pace to get his shot away, and that he was desperate for Boyle to make any sort of attempt at a challenge. Boyle had the pace to get round him, so there was no reason to be that close. One of those that on first viewing probably looks like a foul. Would like to see it again though as I think Armstrong was definitely looking for it.
  19. Watching 50 goals against United DVD to get me in the mood. Absolutely buzzing for this now!
  20. Absolutely delighted at this news! Roll on the double header!
  21. I'd be devastated if PH left. Seems to be the first decent manager we've had in years. I just hope he doesn't fancy working under Tan - I've always felt Hartley is the kind of manager who wants total control.
  22. Hope he can recapture his form from his Motherwell days. Maybe just needs a bit of confidence to start scoring again, and he's younger than I thought he was. Not hugely excited but I'm confident in Hartley and if he thinks he's good enough them I'm happy!
  23. I'm willing to give him a chance if he is signed obviously, but it's a worry that he's not done much since his Motherwell days. I'm sure he was most recently released by a team relegated to the Conference. Having said that if anyone can bring out the best in him then it's Hartley.
