  1. Davidson has steadied the ship under incredibly difficult circumstances, and we'd absolutely have been relegated long before now had we stuck with the original plan, but I think to say we've been as good as any other side in the Championship is a bit of a stretch! We couldn't create any chances against Morton at Hampden, capitalise on massive amounts of pressure away to to Airdrie, or hold a 2-0 lead against Thistle; the core of a really solid Championship squad is clearly there, but a lot of work still needs to be done if we stay if and have any plans of being more competitive next season. Wish I shared your confidence ahead of the Inverness game though.
  2. Dundee didn't have Beuker making those decisions, to be fair. I still think we'd have gone into the Premiership with a bunch of kids, albeit they would have maybe been of a slightly higher calibre. Even if we were struggling badly (which we've done for the majority of this season anyway) it'd have been a good laugh.
  3. There's absolutely no justifying quite how terrible we were today. Far too many passengers in every area of the park; sloppy at the back, and every pass misplaced or over hit going forward, dreadful. I've got the absolute fear for the last few games, not sure how we bounce back from that to be honest, especially if Dom Thomas isn't back pretty much immediately.
  4. No such thing as a free hit at this stage, United have dropped points to a lot of teams this season including a poorer version of us. I don't expect anything necessarily but I'd be slightly disappointed if the players went into this with one eye on the Inverness game already.
  5. Had a wee flick back through this thread and the less said about my own predictions the better. Still, it's always interesting to see how things compare when everything is almost said and done; I particularly enjoyed this post: I take absolutely no joy from Arbroath getting relegated (actually, I would if we went down too for selfish reasons), but hopefully nobody who likes a wee gamble took this person's advice.
  6. We didn't win for 4 and a half months, I don't think despite recent improvements anybody would deny that it's been a fairly horrendous season overall.
  7. They are though. We've given away the same number of tickets this season for each home game as we did last year while at Ochilview (and we also stuck a bus on for them to get to Larbert), yet our average attendance has grown from 911 while challenging for the league to 1768, despite us having been mostly miserable to watch. Plenty to criticise the club for, something I'm not shy about doing myself, but that isn't one of them. It's just a shame we weren't back in the southside for the 22/23 season which was obviously a lot more exciting, and would've no doubt done more to get people through the door.
  8. The B team's draw at Lochinch today confirms they're reserve league champions. Although winning those games is obviously less of a priority than player development (especially since we primarily fielded youth players in the competition), it'll be exciting to see how they all progress. There's a lot of exciting young talent at the club right now.
  9. I don't think our season tickets went on sale until mid-June last year, I'd probably expect similar again. This doesn't justify the weird limbo we find ourselves in, of course. Not knowing where we're going to be playing going into every season is a ridiculous scenario, and one way or another something more permanent needs to be arranged. Regardless, I've heard through the grapevine that it'll be Hampden again. That's as good as you're going to get for now I'm afraid.
  10. Corbin Burnes pitched 6 innings with 11 strikeouts, a single hit (off Mike Trout), and no walks in his Orioles debut. Given he's a free agent after this season I could see him putting up ridiculous numbers for that big contract.
  11. I'd love to say this is our best opportunity of finally getting a win in this fixture but I've felt that way before; 2-0 up at half time last year at Ochilview, when Morton only had about 14 players because of the weather earlier this season, or when we had a man advantage and a got penalty at Cappielow but it never seems to click. Absolutely no predictions from me, but a win for either side could have a fairly significant impact on the outcome of the rest of their season.
  12. Aye there are some outrageously weathy suburbs, but even in the city itself you're fine as long as you don't do anything daft. The closer you are to the water the nicer it tends to be, generally speaking. Great scran, some fantastic pubs, interesting museums and a lot of history, at least by American standards. I'll be there again later on this year. I've never made it beyond the second series but it's probably about time I correct that, especially if you're saying it gets even better.
  13. Never been able to get into The Wire, but I'm tempted to give it another shot. I've spent some time in Baltimore though and it's a class city, some night out too. Never seen anything like what was depicted in the show, but I suppose I also wasn't slinging/buying heroin in the projects.
  14. Broony is a massive bampot, I'm afraid. You'll be desperate to get rid of him by December at the latest.
  15. Aye, the two of them make a ridiculous partnership. Honestly cannot believe how good he's been for us.
  16. It's a bit different. We wanted to move Dundee fans altogether to a smaller area of the ground, and use the terrace at Ochilview which is usually the away section for more home fans. United are outright restricting Raith's allocation in the same stand they gave them more tickets for before.
  17. Yamamoto gives up 5 runs in his first MLB inning, and isn't back out for the second. Ooft.
  18. Totally agree that 8th is more than fine; I'd bite your hand off for that right now, but I don't fancy going into the last couple of games with things still up in the air. Despite the improvements we've made under Davidson we're still massively in danger thanks to our horrendous, self-inflicted, start to the season. Our average points per game is 1.6 under the new manager, which would take us to 44 come the end of the season rather than 54. Probably just enough to avoid the relegation playoffs, but that average will also drop if we don't win down at Somerset on Saturday (and potentially more when it's followed up by 2 even tougher fixtures). I think some people are underestimating how precarious a position we're still in, to be honest, and I'd rather we got the business done ourselves as soon as possible rather than rely on other teams continuing to struggle. I wish I shared your confidence!
  19. I think it depends on what your objective is for the remainder of the season. If you want us to be in with a shot of avoiding 9th come the end of the season, then drawing or even losing this definitely would be fine since the league is so tight. I'd much rather it didn't go right down to the wire though. In that case picking up 3 or 4 points from a potential 12 is definitely not ideal, especially with Morton and Dundee United coming up, despite the improved performances. Dunfermline seem to have turned a corner, and you can't just assume that Inverness won't either. This is our best chance of winning a game until mid-April and I think we do need to be taking advantage of that.
  20. I think we need to win this. The objective can't be to draw our way to the finish line and hope that's enough. It's great that we're clearly tougher to beat now, but ultimately we threw away the win against Thistle, and took our foot right off the gas at Airdrie. Time to start getting things right at both ends of the park at the same time, rather than one or the other.
  21. Wilson has to be the most significant signing of the January transfer window in the division. Having him has completely transformed the way we defend, by which I mean we're actually capable of doing so now. Delighted that he'll be here next season too.
  22. Said the same thing last time we played Raith, but they don't half chuck themselves to the ground easily. Dylan Easton is definitely one of the most dislikeable players in Scotland, and I wouldn't be disappointed to see his season end in tears again. As far as 0-0s go it was a reasonably entertaining game. We were weakened significantly on the left hand side of the park by the changes in the second half, but that's just the squad that Davidson has inherited. We lacked any real cutting edge today in general but that doesn't concern me too much as we've been decent going forward lately. Can't complain about the point, we've become much harder to beat which will hopefully be enough to avoid 9th place. I think Ayr away next week is almost a must win at this stage though.
  23. As crazy as this sounds, Cillian Sheridan has also been a massive addition up front for us since he came in. I don't think anyone would've predicted him to look anywhere near as good as he has. I'd be keen to see us go with two up front again, as we're clearly far more threatening that way. Essentially the same team as the Thistle game with Longridge in for McPherson from the start. I get the impression that a lot of Queen's fans disagree with me, but I'm quite disappointed we came away with just 2 points from our last 2 games. Things are far too close around us in the league to be taking our foot off the gas the way we did. Even when we were absolutely terrible this season we matched up fairly well against Raith; no point in dwelling on the fact that we Veldman'd ourselves twice, the players should be going into this feeling like they can win again.
  24. Montgomery still allegedly pushing for a 7 year deal at 31 years old. I know he's been good recently, but considering the Yankees couldn't give him away just a couple of years ago I don't see anybody doing that. A solid number 3 in a decent rotation.
