Would that not be for the TV

Although it looked awful as if no one was there

In a way would it not be better to have both sets of fans in the North stand

Not for the TV, multiple sets of fans have been put at the other end of the South Stand. Seems to be based on how many they're expected to bring, along with whether they have a reputation for being arseholes.

Scott Burns saying Calum Ferrie is  attracting interest from down south. Surely we will be trying to extend his contract soon.

League 2, specifically. I know there are clubs at that level who pay well but he should be aiming higher than that. He's the best keeper in this division and if he really does want to move on he'd get a game for a lot of Premiership clubs in Scotland.

Still, I'd rather we tied him down to a 4 year contract instead of possible. Would be a massive loss.

Another midfielder is interesting. Needs as many options as possible but there’s competition now for the attacking midfield slot with turner/Mckinstry/Carse

Just hope it’s not preparation for a Dom Thomas departure

He's a centre mid seemingly so I don't think it has anything to do with the Thomas rumours. Seems like an odd signing; definitely not an area I think we need to strengthen further as a matter of priority!

  4. Can't say I remember Raith diving quite as much as that in our previous two games, it was genuinely incredible, Easton predictably the biggest culprit. Hopefully he's absolutely gutted.

Thought we were fantastic in that second half and deserved the win. That was a team finally playing with confidence, something that has been see seriously lacking all season.

    Thoroughly pleasing.

I would rather lose 3-0 than be 2-0 up with 5 minutes to go again!

Fortunately, if we find ourselves in that position again Davidson seems like the type of manager who would use his eyes and common sense, rather than arbitrarily take our best players off while ahead because the "data" says their performance will drop after the 84th minute or whatever.

Most of his best signings were 30+, tbf.

Younger ones he seemed to struggle to "profile" correctly and ended up using wrong.

Maybe easier to get right with older players as theyve a career of evidence to show you what they do well/struggle with?

We have so many young players right now with plenty more coming through that realistically he probably won't need to look at anyone under the age of about 26/27 even if he lasts the full length of his 2 and a half year contract.

  7. I think Davidson will likely be criticised for the guys he brings in this month based on his track record of making signings who are past their best, but this is exactly the sort of experience our squad is lacking. We have plenty of young talent, and Welsh is the kind of leader they need around them, as well as a solid option off the bench/injury cover. I'd be happy with this.

To be fair, the media are reporting that 3 teams were in for him and that QP were ready to listen to offers.

we know now that United don’t want him and Raith have just signed Turner on loan, so the probability is becoming higher.

Personally, I think the appointment of Davidson might put the kibosh on this one now but we might still try and sign him on a PCA 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Daily Record loves to make stuff up. He's under contract until 2025 so any idea of a pre-contract is out of the window. If Thistle can afford to sign him now though they're clearly not as skint as they'd like everyone to think.

  9. To be completely honest that red card at Airdrie put me off him, he hasn't shown anywhere near enough ability to tolerate that kind of petulant behaviour. His contract at Bayern still has a bit of time left on it so he may very well improve and I wish him all the best, but I think he's a prime candidate to show up at someone like East Kilbride or Cove in a couple of years.

Can we please stop lauding managers for winning the Scottish Cup or League Cup? You need to win about 5 or 6 games tops and should absolutely not be confused with any guarantee of managerial talent.

John Hughes, Peter Houston, Alan Stubbs, Jim McIntyre, Danny Lennon, Ronny Deila and Kenny Shiels have all won major cup competitions in Scotland in the last 15 years; just saying.

I'd argue all of those managers deserve credit for that achievement, despite their failings elsewhere. The same applies to Davidson, and what he achieved winning both in one season is obviously even more impressive.

St. Johnstone fans know more about the the situation there during his tenure than anyone else, and I'm not personally willing to completely ignore what they're saying. Like I posted a couple of pages ago though, we're not exactly a massive club and as it stands we're only a few goals away from sitting bottom of the Championship; I'm not sure there would've been any realistic appointment that didn't have at least some stains their record.

We just need to hope that he's learnt from his past mistakes, and that the environment here will be more suitable for getting the best out of his abilities as a manager.

  11. Said is his interview that he's looking to bring in 2-3 additions, which is honestly all I think we need to be considerably more competitive as long as they're the right players with a decent bit of experience. A centre half and a forward would be my priority, and with his connections I'd be keen on Lee Ashcroft who we'd previously been linked to and Stevie May; potentially a left back after that if I'm being greedy.

According to Transfermarkt Sam Kane has returned from his loan at East Kilbride so the story maybe not without merit.  Not too sure how good he [Kane] is, but with Ferrie so far this year keeping score-lines respectable, if he picks up an injury our already inexperienced and light squad becomes even more of a concern.

Apparently Kane's loan to EK was just for emergency cover. Regarding the back up goalkeeper situation, you're right obviously that if we do sell McKenna then we're left somewhat lacking in experience there but it's not particularly common for sides to have two keepers as talented as ours at this level, we are just very fortunate in that area. If the club can potentially make 7 figures from the transfer of a 17 year old who has only played a handful of first team games then they should be commended for that IMO.

That's a lovely sentiment, but has almost zero to do with Scottish football in 2024. If that's the hope you're clinging to then you're done.

You're not wrong, but I think the point is more that a club of our stature in the position we are isn't going to be hiring a manager with a flawless record.
