  1. You can’t polish a turd, and given half the first team was the same gang that delivered some of the most shameful moments in my lifetime of following falkirk last season, it’s no wonder we’ll turn out performances like that. I spoke before a ball was kicked in pre season about how key positions had simply not been filled by Holt. He didn’t do his job imo, that’s why I single him out. An easier example is the Scottish national team. Fantastic full backs, plethora of options in midfield. But we dont have 2 Centre halves worthy of the name, and no striker. If you fill those 3 positions, with a CM, you can get away with a lot. Holt/Sheerin have filled none. I’m no Durnan lover but he’s miles ahead of Hall. Said it over the summer and was “knicker wetting”. Dixon showed some inadequacies today, but maybe he’s just about fine. We don’t have a striker. Still. Not sure where this performance leaves us. We have 3 winnable games coming up, particularly the 2 at home. 7 or 9 points out of 9 and we’d right up at the top of the table after the first round of games. That seems like a pipe dream after that performance but I don’t think we’ve suddenly become an utter gang (yet) after some really promising early performances
  2. That team doesn’t feel strong but can only piss with what we’ve got I guess. Williamson, McKay, Morrison and krasniqi all out due to injury - important players
  3. Quite fancy us to win comfortably tomorrow. A feeling that comes around a couple of times per season and is often wrong.
  4. Shayne Lavery up front for Northern Ireland tonight, a couple of years after he was our 5th choice striker
  5. Not going to spend the money required, except for the combined 40k plus on sammy and Wilson, 50k on Holt, 10k plus on his son that’ll never get near the lowland league never mind our first team. Never mind the 500k plus that would have ensured we got the 1 or 2 players we need to be a title fighting/winning team. As was said before the “knicker wetters” have been right for the last decade. Imo a title winning club would not have gone down on Saturday like we did those last 20 mins.
  6. Surely absolutely zero chance of that. His level is about English league 1, rungs and rungs and rungs above our current station.
  7. Ohhh to have Simon Murray in our team. Not since McManus we have had a talisman like him we could just sit back and appreciate. Before McManus you’d have to go back a while too. Someone like him we’d win the league by 10 points + imo. Ah well, Holt and Sheerin don’t see it as a priority so.....
  8. Lots to unpack there. As I said pre game, nothing decided this afternoon, although a definite blip for us. Fairly impressed by Queens Park, especially that last 20 mins. If we had that big bald midfielder I don’t think we’d have lost today (not saying hetherington was poor today, he just didn’t have anywhere near the presence or influence the baldy did). In saying that, I can’t remember a game in the last about 5 years where falkirk have got that lucky and held on to a lead like that. Not just the 2 disallowed goals, missed penalty, free header inches wide that should’ve gone in, inside of the post, but the general breaks of the ball all falling for queens park and any wee flick just not falling. Despite that, thought we were largely poor. We simply cannot ever have Telfer playing wherever the f**k he was playing today again. He’s our best or 2nd best creator but was basically playing CDM for the majority of the game. Sheerin, we can’t have that. Felt for Morrison today. Had Robson on toast first half and if we had any striker ala farid etc one of his few tasty deliveries might have been converted. He also has to do it all on his own as Miller doesn’t get by him often enough (a problem that was painfully obvious in the 2nd half). He then was an inch away from the literal perfect penalty. Yes he did miss, but was an inch away. His confidence then collapsed in front of our very eyes. Couldn’t do a thing right. Any leader worth their salt would have their arm around him in dressing room after that game. Queens Park will be up there come end of the season, I don’t think anyone will run away with it
  9. Definitely not, basically you have to be a complete w**k to get bother there, and doubt any queens park would fall into that category. Great having the football back. Few beers tonight taste better having the wee buzz of a big game tomorrow.
  10. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/2484598/raith-rovers-ayr-united-championship-covid-outbreak/ A far more interesting case than the Rangers one imo. Ayr down to the “bare bones” but seemingly with enough players to field an 11. We were told to get on with it and play - will they be? Of course, it’s farcical that postponements are being effectively banned by the league body. However, given what happened to us, the only consistent decision for the whole season is to force them to play. If that changes surely we can sue?
  11. Disagree with the narrative that 6 pointers really exist in this league at this stage of the season. Just like last year everyone will take points off everyone. We will most likely drop points to cove, yourselves, alloa, possibly airdrie, Montrose. As will you. We’ve had a good start but our squad isn’t special. You might win this game, we might win, but the following league game could see us drop points v Alloa or Vice versa. Can see it being close come end of season
  12. Never a foul, gets the ball first and nothing dangerous about the tackle.
  13. Yeah that’s why comparing season to season is difficult. Think there’s a few hundred fewer season tickets this year compared to 19/20. Falkirk have for as long as I can remember counted season ticket sales in attendance figures. Thus 4K to 3.5k, with maybe 100 fewer Clyde fans - probably about the same number of walk up home fans. Given last season, pretty good effort
  14. Btw, what a sight Bumper crowd next week Bairns
  15. Any chance falkirk tv could show highlights on YouTube of these games going forward? No commentary needed, just 1 guy with a camera and no real rush to get the highlights out either, unlike first team games. Used to enjoy watching the games back when we had an academy
  16. Reilly is miles better than Wilson ompreon and dowds. In the current climate that’s basically all we could hope for imo
  17. I saw the U16’s were 2-0 up on Hearts U16 tonight (no idea how it finished) Of course as Ian Fergus says results really aren’t that important at that level but to me it seems quite incredible we can already compete with established academy teams....very promising
  18. I reckon he’ll do quite well for you. Binning him and keeping Wilson/ompreon is rank. Only sheerin’s good start on the pitch let’s him just about get away with this decision
  19. When the pizza’s in the oven and you’re looking through the only fairly clean part of the oven glass to see if it’s ready
  20. Can’t believe I’m saying this but Id go same but Miller for C. Williamson. With McCann small I would want some extra height given we know what to expect from Airdrie
  21. I’d argue there’s only one of us not being “objective” here and that isn’t me. Recruitment for the first team bang average. If that isn’t his job, and his job is solely to start up a development squad at U18/15 level, the fans deserve to know that.
