  1. In fairness to Kilday, he was absolutely excellent today. It’s just his injury record that’s woeful Very much looking forward to seeing Eze play I must say
  2. If that’s supposedly the 2nd or 3rd best team in the league then we have nothing to fear. Inverness were utterly bang average and unfortunately we let someone of Billy McKays quality get a half chance and he took it well. We created a number of chances and McPake really should of done better when through on goal twice in either half. However, his running with the ball was outstanding and really added a different dimension to our attack. Dom Thomas was arguably man of the match with some terrific bits of footwork and carried the ball excellently. That’s exactly the Dom Thomas people rave about. Jason Naismith also took one for the team right at the death with a booking when Inverness went on the counter. Real sign of experience at the back Special mention to Charlie Fox who was an absolute monster at the back and won everything that came his way. I still go by that he’ll become the best defender in the championship this season Negatives were the manner we lost the goal. A moment of slackness in the box and we were punished, whilst Liam Brown quite simply isn’t a defensive mid. It’s a shame but I think as the season goes on, he’ll probably end up on the bench. loads of positives from that and arguably slightly frustrated we haven’t came back with 3 points
  3. I think it’s more a wild decision cause of the potential detriment it has on the squad and their overall chances this season. Their squad already seemed extremely light prior to his departure but now, out with 6 or 7 players, the quality of player doesn’t seem to be as well rounded as last season. Fyvie, Logan, megginson, Yule etc will be fine but I’m cautious over how impactful Reynolds and Vigurs will be Next couple signings will be key for Cove I’d imagine
  4. I’d be raging if I were a cove supporter listening to that. Yes, McAllister going on holiday during the season isn’t ideal but to get rid of a player of his quality because of that seems wild to me, especially when Cove are part time. I’d understand a lot more if this situation came about at a full time club Cant see McIntyre becoming a roaring success at all if I’m being honest. A lot seems to be relying on megginson continuing to produce the goods up top
  5. We need to move on from Muir now. It’s unfair to constantly compare aspects of ferrie’s game to someone that’s now been released by the club. Ferrie’s distribution was a shambles on Saturday admittedly and it has to improve if he’s got any aspirations of cementing the number 1 jersey long term but I don’t think the “good shot stopper” should be dismissed as easily as you’re suggesting. His saves against Dundee which you highlighted were genuinely outstanding and he was unfortunate against Stranraer that nobody reacted to his penalty save. Would rather a keeper that’s less developed with the ball at their feet but actually saved shots. Coyle and Beuker certainly must see that potential Aye he made errors last season but he had great games also. Kept us in the tie away at Dunfermline in the playoffs, especially the save immediately after we scored. I am very surprised a new first choice keeper hasn’t been signed so far however. Guess we just need to back Coyle and Beuker’s decisions
  6. Surely that’s an early indication of where hearts have Smith in the pecking order ? Coyle should be phoning down hearts right now to get him back on loan. He’d absolutely start in our current team
  7. That seems wild. McAllister still looked every bit as threatening last season as he’s always been despite his age. Even as a squad option he’d be worth his weight surely ? Tbh I’m quite glad I won’t see him this season, always loves a goal against us Fallout with McIntyre ?
  8. Scott Williamson with a double against rangers. The guy is a natural goalscorer, would love to see him given a start up top with Murray on Saturday. Been really impressed with him in the limited minutes I’ve seen of him
  9. Thought I’d get the ball rolling for what will be for many of us, the first time witnessing QP play championship football. The Premier sports cup is fine in terms of being able to watch competitive games early on but it’s a completely different ball game to league football. Buzzing for it Quite clearly a very difficult fixture to kick us off and there’s no doubt Inverness will be in and around the play off spots again this season I’d imagine but there’s no reason to suggest that we can’t go up there and potentially get a result ? After seeing the 4 cups games, this is probably how I’d imagine we’ll line up with Ferrie Davidson Kilday Fox Robson Brown Jarrett Mcpake Savoury Thomas Murray Wouldn’t surprise me to see Thomson come in for a Jarrett or Brown for the defensive cover but I think there’s a bucketload of potential in brown, Jarrett and savoury linking up the midfield and attack. Equally Bannon could easily keep his place after his performance against Hamilton. Jason Naismith seems to have barely had a sniff, might be an early indicator that he’s not been particularly rated so far ?
  10. Frustrating one as it’s clear when we’re willing to pass the ball quickly and on the ground, we’re actually a threatening team but far too often we reverted to overhit punts up the park which Charlie Fox was particularly guilty of today, which of course is even more annoying as we know he’s normally terrific driving with the ball and passing it in between the lines. Again, the 2nd half performance was a million miles better but we really need to wake up in the 1st half of games if we’re going to give ourselves a chance. Too often we look a yard slower on and off the ball and against championship opposition, you’ll get punished which is what has inevitably happened the last 2 games Positives were that Jarrett was excellent in midfield and the introduction of McPake and Williamson made a huge difference with the latter in particular causing havoc up top. Savoury showed some great touches also. Special credit to Alex Bannon, first start in senior football and played like a seasoned pro. Very calm and collected on the ball and dealt with the physicality comfortably, especially against a very good striker in Andy Ryan. For me, he’s potentially played himself into starting XI for Inverness next week. Louis longridge continues to look a shadow of the player he was in 2021. He was awful today and I still stand by that he shouldn’t of been offered a new contract for this season. Dom Thomas was also poor and missed a glorious chance when clean through and lobbed it wide. Still waiting to see the Thomas that’s been so highly thought of by others Hamilton looked alright, particularly 1st half. Both centre mids looked decent but their whole team looked gubbed throughout the 2nd half and i think if the game lasted another 5 minutes or so, a winner would of arrived for us
  11. Josh McPake confirmed now. Really excited to see what he can do. Seems to have impressed in pre season for rangers so far and having a fair few senior appearances under his belt already across various loans, he should be ready to go.
  12. I’m surprised the McPake loan hasn’t been announced by now, assuming he is actually coming to us. Wonder what the hold up is Got to surely have a couple signings by the Inverness game. The bench looks incredibly weak minus 1 or 2 players.
  13. I’m feeling cautious on how we’ll get on this season. Maybe it’s purely cause I’ve never seen us in the championship but personally I think 6th or 7th might be where we end up. As long as we’re not the whipping boys in the league then I’m fine. A lot really does depend on the next few signings because as it stands, there’s 1 or 2 in our starting lineup that quite simply will not cut it across 36 games, especially in defensive areas From what I’ve read on everyone’s squads, Morton would be my current favourites for the bottom spot. Signing a couple of our duds from league 1 probably sealing that decision. A nagging part of me thinks Cove will really struggle also
  14. A part of me thinks a couple of these potential signings may be abroad therefore might of been needing to wait for a visa etc (we know Eze is definitely one of them) Also, the trialist that played against EK was sitting on our bench last night with the qp tracksuit on, albeit not in the squad. Assuming he’s getting signed ? Think his name is Omani Leacock, a Barbados international
  15. Disgraceful from the club to announce what probably looks Friday night home for the foreseeable weeks after season tickets went on sale. If you thought crowds at stenny would be bad on Saturdays, wait until we see these Friday games. Can’t imagine many who finish work at 5 on a Friday will be too inclined to attend
  16. Happy enough with that. Really poor stuff 1st half, Particularly from set pieces which seems to be an Achilles heel for us at the moment. We allowed Dundee 3 attempts for their 1st goal and how we allowed a 2 v 1 from from the corner in the build up for the 2nd goal was disappointing. However, i took lots of encouragement from 2nd half. Yes Dundee had a couple of guilt edge chances but what’s different from last season is that we seem to have a belief that we’re going to score every time we go forward. We had chances in good areas but we were either very wasteful or took too long to shoot. Dundee are definitely a superior team and there is absolutely no shame in that. Although he has the worst haircut in football history, Paul McGowan looked a class act all first half, alongside their number 15 who looked handy out wide. For QP, Ferrie was brilliant and once he moved into the centre of the park, Jarrett was superb in midfield. For a small guy, he gets stuck in and isn’t afraid of doing the dirty side which is key whether you make it at this level or not. Unsure on what I think of Dom Thomas so far. He seems fine generally but equally he can be also be fairly frustrating on the ball. Savoury and Jarrett definitely seem the best of the new bunch currently I’m still really optimistic going into this season that we’ll be no mugs.
  17. Anyone got any idea who the trialist was today that played against EK? Seemed to do well from what I’ve heard
  18. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to that. Really insightful, lots of strong analysis made on the key talking points of the club. Everyone involved were great. Looking forward to more content
  19. I think there’s still a question as to what Brown’s best position actually is. I think he’s at his best in an attacking sense, especially in tight situations around the box but it’s clear Savoury will play that role. I don’t think he’ll struggle at all but I certainly don’t think he’ll be as effective if he’s deployed as the defensive midfielder. He’s definitely a championship level player if used properly
  20. We badly need a winger, longridge isn’t going to cut it across 36 games in the championship. I agree about needing defenders and a goalkeeper to challenge ferrie however
  21. Even if the last 2 games have been against league 2 opposition, you can’t not enjoy seeing 9 goals scored across them. Coyle seems to have injected so much more life and enthusiasm into our attacking play and overall mentality throughout the team and so far it’s paying off massively. We were sloppy in spells, particularly in the early stages of the 2nd half but once we scored the 2nd goal, we were in cruise control. I can’t help but not get excited over the prospect of Williamson up top for us. He took his goal brilliantly and showed a great burst of pace as he was a couple yards behind the defender to begin with. MOTM was Murray for me. He lead the line like a proper championship striker and his touches, movement and link up play was levels above anyone on the pitch. Just hoping he doesn’t get injured as I did notice he was holding his leg at the beginning of the 2nd half. Davidson is making a very strong claim to be the starting right back although I’d imagine we’ll see Naismith play against Dundee and Hamilton I actually thought Stranraer looked better than Forfar when comparing the teams on the two performances. Forfar I thought were pretty rank. It’s just nice to see us look considerably better as we’ve struggled against lower league opponents in recent times
  22. Will be interesting to see Craig slater play for Forfar. A real shame how it worked out at qp for him, he looked cut above on the very small time he was on the pitch but I genuinely can’t think of a player that got injured as frequently as he did for us. Part time football seems to have worked out for him in terms of injury prevention
  23. That was just lovely today. 5 goals, really attacking football and crucially we were clinical when the chances arose. Don’t want to get too excited yet as previous years have shown these cup games have little to no reflection on the league campaign but I was incredibly encouraged with what I’ve seen so far. Don’t want to speak too soon but Grant Savoury looks to be an outstanding piece of business. He’s exactly the type of player we’ve missed in recent seasons where we needed someone in between the midfield and attack to link the play. He’s quick and for all his good play, he can actually score goals aswell. Really excited to see what he can produce across the season Jarrett and Thomas looked really lively and it’s clear Thomas is extremely intelligent on the ball and it showed by grabbing 2 assists in the process. Murray looks a different animal under Coyle and it’s so pleasing to see him finally look clinical in front of goal. Im hopeful that if he keeps fit that he’ll hit a really good number of goals this season, genuinely looks in the best condition I’ve seen him since he’s joined the club. With another 4 players or so to join, I’m really buzzing to see how we do this season. I’m confident
  24. New kit out now. Can’t say I’m too fond of the away top in the slightest. Home top looks fine but can’t say the new sponsor looks great on either kit. Was hoping for another whacky away top like last season
  25. It can go either way with loanees from English under 23 sides, no matter how big the club are tbh. Just from experience, QP had luis Longstaff on loan from Liverpool last season. On the face of it, been capped at English under 17 level and played once in the cup for the 1st team suggests he’d be a coup but he turned out to be an utter diddy with little heart and that was in league 1. The Arsenal kid may well turn out to be a star but it’s the gulf in physicality from under 23 football to men’s football that plays the biggest factor in whether they make or break up here
