6 wins, 2 (or 1? I can’t remember) losses. In silver 3 at the moment with 23 matches left; doing not too badly, think people are underestimating my team a bit and just going gung-ho. Happy with that tonight, think I’ve had enough for just now though.

So, first time playing weekend league tonight when I get back from work; roughly the same as Rivals standard or should I be expecting even more ridiculous squads than the ones I’ve already faced in division 5 rank 1 rivals?

That’s the normal sort of matchup for me in 5/6. Brutal isn’t it?

Also in relation to tactics I’m running a 3-4-1-2/3-5-2. Both wingers/wide midfielders are set to always track back. Central CB is a strong, relatively slow one and he’s flanked by 2 full backs playing as CB’s who are fast and still relatively strong. Holding mids are set to cut off passing lanes and only 1 is set to join the attack, other is set to drop back between defenders if out of possession. Front 3 are told to stay up.

It's getting a bit boring playing against people who are using the same players and the same tactics over and over. Not their fault, EA/FIFA seem to encourage this with how they code their gameplay, but it'd be nice to play against some sort of old school target man tactics, or just any other variation of what the meta is right now.

Don’t think that affects me, since it was rivals and not champions. Never know though.

I opted for packs for my rivals rewards instead of the coins, which was stupid, since I got absolutely f**k all; wasn't happy. I sold basically everything that wasn't consumables and punted for 88 Saul to make me feel better. Won't be getting the 93 Busquets card now but hopefully this Saul card is solid enough.

Not having that. Room on Fire and First Impressions of Earth are very good albums, albeit nowhere near as monumental as Is This It. Angles is a mess and Comedown Machine is naff but The New Abnormal is probably up there as the 2nd/3rd best album they’ve released. Songs such as Ode to the nets and Selfless are up there with the best they’ve ever done.

Absolutely; I always make it a hassle for those with incredible teams, but you see it sometimes with the first loose ball, your team literally cannot move as fast as them to intercept it, even if your team are closer. Every 50/50, every cross, every through ball, these teams will just win those battles and you're in for a miserable time of it if you keep getting matched with semi-competent players who have these types of teams. THANKFULLY, I stopped the rot completely it seems and have only lost 1 game today, even when up against top-tier teams. It's probably a combination of DDA and some mental block at times.

Is the 93 Sergio Busquets card any good? I'll have enough coins for him soon enough and will slot him in.

Qualified for WL today; first time...ever I think? I never bothered with it when it was introduced. This 3-5-2 I'm running is working a treat as well so far, with Semedo and Regulion as CB's, they're surprisingly strong enough to act as CB's, and fast enough to cover out wide if need be. I have the wide midfielders set to do some serious defensive work though and it works out well. Once I get my rewards I'm punting Banega as he's way too slow. Might replace Saul also as he's a bit cumbersome as a CAM. Going to ignore rivals and just concentrate on squad battles to further bump up my score and maybe get into the top 100.

Aww mate; don’t get me started. I played basically all day yesterday, definitely lost more than I won. Relegated to division 6 after being pretty safe in division 5 in rivals. I’m around 300 points off of qualifying for the next weekend league so will grind that out today but not looking forward to it. I’m elite 1 in squad battles though so there’s that I guess... I’m also rank 1 in the rivals think as well but I think that just means the top level in whatever skill rating range you’re in.

Been getting matched with freaks all day who have ridiculous teams that I simply can’t compete with. Not enjoyable

I tell both my midfielders to cover centre, one stay back and the other balanced. Maybe this will help. I play a narrow 4-3-3, and the 2 of the 3 midfielders are being told to cover the centre and the other is being told to help the slower full back out. Should I get all 3 to cover centre?

Any tips on how to make your midfield stop the opposition from isolating/overloading your centrebacks? In the matches I lose it's because of my midfield is getting so stretched that it allows their midfield to just play a straight pass to their strikers and they can take on the cb's with no hassle. It's usually the teams that have absolutely ridiculous midfields so it could just be that I can't really do much about it and just hope my cb's can land a tackle.
