You two appear to know all the ins and outs of this "deal", which is much more than the rest of us, however the points I would make here are,

    1. The BBC Scotland Friday night coverage wasn't part of this deal when originally negotiated.

    2. The Championship Clubs, Chairmen / Boards / Owners, don't appear very happy with this "fantastic" deal.

I'd also be so bold as to insinuate that the Premiership clubs only look after number one, so I can't for the life of me believe that they're doing the Championship clubs a great favour with the current deal.

Call me a cynic, but I prefer realist....................

Well in 2012, the winners of the old First Division received something in the region of £70,000, that's now ten-fold because of the SPFL.

The TV deal is ever-changing and tbh there was 16 Championship games live last season on BBC Alba, and I imagine Alba were paying a lot less than £700k, and no-one was complaining.

Clubs also get a lot in commercial money by having live games on the BBC, I saw one report that missing out on Sportscene Highlights cost us a six-figure amount.

I'm not a massive fan of the 7.05ko time, personally, I would like to see a 7:30pm ko, with the Nine being shortened to half an hour on a Friday - which is what C4 News do.

What I just don't understand is how the Premier league teams can gain from teams from a different league being shown on TV ?

I appreciate that some sort of overarching deal was signed to cover TV revenue which is then distributed amongst everyone, however that was surely before BBC arranged this new Friday 7.05pm slot for the Championship on their new channel ?

As such, should any deal not have been renegotiated at this point or a separate pot being put in for distribution to the Championship teams only ??

The clubs are clearly losing out, the fans don't like it and the Chairmen are very unhappy, so why the Hell did they sign up for this would be my question ???

Because Championship clubs get revenue from Live Premiership matches.

All TV, Sponsorship, and other Money is put into a pot at the end of the season and is awarded to the 42 clubs (and the side relegated from L2).

So if in your case that all the Championship TV money just stayed with Championship clubs, then the total prize pool for all the Championship clubs would be £700,000. Under the current model, the championship winner receives roughly £650,000. So it's a completely pointless argument.

Where do the two West Region Junior licensing applicants, fit in to this timetable -  ie : consideration in June or beyond ?  Or is this dependent on the West Juniors joining the pyramid for 2019/20 ?

What is the latest on that are the West Juniors taking the SOSL's place in the pyramid at Tier 6 or does nobody know?

I really can't be bothered going through 40 pages to find a half answer.

    Joel is fantastic.

Still slightly haunted by recurring nightmares of his Chilean holiday stories, mind.

I can vaguely remember this, can anyone tell me which pod it was from. Also will not hear a bad word about Joel, the boy is a motherfucking hero.

Saw Ricky Ross and Fowler chatting on Twitter earlier - all I want is Ricky Ross singing Beautiful Sunday on the show now.

The show's been great, getting better and better each week, I'm trying to get my non-football flatmates to watch it, they seem to like it. The BBC showing games on the Friday seems to make it more difficult for them, I've noticed that they're always skirting talking about the Championship - particularly the promotion hunt the last two weeks. Maybe for Season 2, they could have it on a Thursday night? But again that brings its own set of challenges, esp with filming two days in advance.

I haven't seen or heard anything either about the HL offering places in the league since the three Junior teams joined in 2009, I have no idea what he (Spyro) is on about.

I think he got confused between Banks o'Dee and Bridge of Don.

The travel thing, I find bizarre. If Tayport (for example) had to play in the HL, all but one game would be within a 3hr drive. If they had to play in Lowland then there would be a few teams in that 3hr ballpark - Dalbeattie for one. Especially with the A9 being duelled. Travel is become less and less of an issue.

This reminds me of the pavilion from that Real kashmir FC, don't know why.

The SFA needs an overhaul starting right at the top. McLeish should never have been appointed so those who gave him the job need to answer.

Some of the players need a boot up the arse too - whinging about astro turf and pulling out due to a mouth ulcer FFS.

The new Chief Exec Maxwell didn't want McLeish.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I know I’ll get hell for some of the ideas here, but here is a different perspective on things...

FORGET who the actual teams are in each league and look at the structure itself, along with the playoff systems, I think it will sort out the “strong league v weak league” issue. The only issue is some clearly weak league playing along side stronger but so what if promotion/relegation is fair?!

Obvisiously it’s already too far gone to do things this way,  but I really think it’s the only sensible way of doing this...

    That is genuinely horrendous.

Top patter putting Junior Teams straight into Tier 3, that did make me chuckle.

  9. If we keep it all in perspective, TV is not cheap/easy to make. It's good that they changed it up a bit this week, gives them more of a feeling of what works and what doesn't -e.g.  was very enjoyable seeing the Dundee player from their banter year season.

The second episode was again quite good, quite liked the feature with the Hibs Ladies player. Didn't think we needed to see the CGT burger scene or from a personal POV reliving Sunday afternoon when it was like having my heart ripped out.

I am a big fan of the song at the end - it's good to give some Scottish acts some airtime and finishes the show quite poignantly.

Agree with the other comments on here - it would have worked better, say as an hour on STV - where you've only got 45 minutes of actual show time - but  getting an extra 15 minutes of the Terrace lads is hardly a dealbreaker.

I thought it was a really encouraging first episode. As alluded to it will take a few weeks to fine tune things but I particularly enjoyed the way they seamlessly went between all the leagues of Scottish football.

I'm in total agreement with CGT as a suggestion for the Sportscene host on a Friday night. Not sure whether there was a rationale (or media training?) behind the Thompson/McDonald presenter role or they have just thrown them in the deep end but either way it's reduced 2 (in my opinion) fairly reasonable pundits into stilted and struggling presenters.

Thompson presented Sportsound a few times quite well - especially the day Scotland women's qualified for the World Cup

Yeah, was on the books of both Anderlecht & PSV, before ditching football for cycling.Going pro with Quick-Step next season.

Greg van Avermaet was the same he used to be a goalkeeper.

Some ride from Anna van der Breggen today absolute dominance. I don't think I can remember such a display in a one-day race like that.

Yes it probably is easier but it's not as much fun.  Write in att - rub it out - write in club att - tick off clubs I've put in overall spreadsheet - rub out ticks - write calculations - rub out calculations. That wee pencil and paper were once a tree, I can't just chuck it away and change because it's easier. That's like people who change their football teams because it's easier to watch a winning team. Loyalty is the least I can give that tree

    Fair play then
