Bypass will be excellent for people from outwith Aberdeen but surely the people in the city will still have a lot of difficulty getting to the site. I know 7 miles or whatever it is doesn’t seem far but when your driving through city traffic it’s an absolute pain in the arse. Imagine a midweek game, setting off about 6ish. If I’m leaving Edinburgh at that time to try get back to Dundee I’m absolutely miserable,  one of they things, think it could sound like a minor thing just now but that can take it’s toll and once it’s built it’s rooted in place forever. If things aren’t going great the fairweathers could bail.

Yeah good point, unfortunately Aberdeen is in dire need of an expanded rail system, whether that be Trams/Underground or expansion of Railways, and there's no plans for anything unfortanetly

Never had any bother getting parked for a game. Don’t think it’s really an issue.

Infact for a midweek game against Hibs (think it was a full house, the 1-0 game) I left my flat at 20 past 7, got parked by 7.30 and into the ground for KO no bother at all.

The problem with Dens is the clusterfuck behind the Derry. The land there would be a bit of a c**t to redevelop with the layout of it.

I really hope Kingsford doesn’t happen, I don’t think it’s a good idea. Aberdeen in my experience is an absolute nightmare to drive through. Everyone leaving the city to go to this ground would surely be a disaster, 100 buses ffs?! I work in construction so find this all very interesting, especially the possibilities at the existing site and the potential costs. There must be some kind of solution.

I’d definitely go for the training facilities at a site like that though. Seems to be the thing to do, Hibs, Celtic, Rangers etc.

Mate, I live there (at least half the year anyway) and they're building the bypass right next to the ground. I think Kings Links< Loriston or Countesswells are better sites, but apparently not according to AFC.

Rebuilding Pittodrie would also be a nightmare for you guys as you would have to run the project in specific stages to keep the stadium open for the full time (not exactly anywhere nearby you could play for an extended period). Not impossible but again, it's another added complexity to what is already a really difficult project. I agree with the posters that are suggesting that it's possible in theory. You can definitely build a 20,000 seater stadium in that footprint, it's just going to be insanely expensive to do so.

It's the exact same issue we've got with Dens. The likelihood is that redeveloping the ground into the 21st century would end up costing more (or at least, raising that revenue externally is far far more difficult) and then not even come up to the same standards that can be met with a new build (in terms of income generating facilities). It's a nice idea but unfortunately, our clubs have made some really poor decisions with the handling of the stadium over the past years (i.e. I don't think Aberdeen worked to future proof the ground - no investment or consideration in the surrounding area; Dundee basically giving the ground away in a raffle) and it's kind of at the stage where it can't really be rectified. Hearts and Hibs put in considerable investment over a long time period and could handle the final stage of the rebuild.

Except Dens has twice the potential footprint of Pittodrie. You could easily demolish the main stand and put the seats closer to the pitch and have a lot of room for a concourse etc.

Dens has a footprint of 27,034m2  despite only having 11,000 seats
    Tannadice has 18, 587m2
The amount of usable land at Pittodrie is 26,275m

    ETA: Kingsford has 164,000m2

That's a new one on me. I thought it was simply that standard trick of data fraudsters everywhere, the suppressed origin, where a large common portion is subtracted from all bars in order to imply a greater ratio than actually exists.

But no, it's more fraudulent still.

    The difference between 10/11 & 11/12 is 151, or about 0.4%.

    The difference between 12/13 & 10/11 is just 96, or about 0.25%.

The apparent differences look to be in the proportion of around 2:1, with the latest year's sales being the bigger step; the actual differences are around 2:3. So even taking into account the classic suppressed origin, there is a misrepresentation by a factor of around 3 on some very simple data. No one who works with data competently and honestly would ever present those numbers like that.

Now, returning to the far more common suppressed origin scam...

To have Super Ally at the same level as the top of that chart, un-suppressing the origin for reasons of sporting integrity and scaling by the current year's jump, he would be hovering at an altitude of around 200m. Let's say the top of North Berwick Law. A foot and a half difference, on a chart the height of North Berwick Law. If I had any talent, I would have illustrated this with an image instead of mere words. Ally with a Jock Scott hoverpack.

The thing I don't get is that the marketing department had a meeting where they agreed that this was a good idea.

There is if we get a plum draw in the Scottish Cup, the SFA are putting a stop to teams moving fixtures from their home grounds ie Bonnyrigg v Hibs. These plans will increase capacity to over 3500.

The Sports Lounge, Social Club and Managers Office Medway huts are getting to the end of their life and need replaced. They contribute so much to our income..

Now is the time, a once in a lifetime investment that will complete the works at the ground for decades to come.

It needs saying that clubs shouldn't be allowed to move matches in the Cup unless there it is absolutely essential,  it completely undermines the Licensing Process

  6. Was on the train from Dundee to Aberdeen on Sunday, the train arrives 24 minutes late as there had been trespassers on the line of the six-fingered variety.

Anyway, the train was due to stop at the Ferry, Carnoustie, Arbroath, Montrose and Stonehaven before going to Aberdeen. Anyway, to make up for the lost time, the driver says on the tannoy that the train will not be making any stops, so get off unless you're heading to Aberdeen. The Guard then goes through each of the five carriages to say the same in person to make sure that everyone got the message.

Loads of folk get off the train and it seems all well and good, until we get to Arbroath. The train slows to 15mph as it goes past the station and a man wearing dicky headphones who had got on at Dundee says to the guard, "How's the train no stopping here?!" and the Guard just looks at him and explains the situation. What an absolute fud.

The man is told to stay on the train, as it heads back past Arbroath as the train is enroute to Newcastle after it reaches it's terminus.

Half an hour later, the bloke sitting next to me wakes up, and I tell him that the trains only going to Aberdeen. I didn't wake him earlier as it says on his ticket that he's going from Edinburgh to the Granite city. The guard comes up and tells him the exact same thing, although he was Stonehaven-bound so it only added another 30 minutes or so on his journey.

    Utter fuds.

Decided to take the plunge. Invested just under £1400 and got 0.42BTC.

Going to sit on it for a few years and hopefully it will pay dividends.

    This was a good decision

    I invested £85 (I'm a student, I'm poor,  don't judge) on Thursday now worth £96.

Hopefully the market doesn't crash until I'm up £150 or so.
