  1. With the first home League game tomorrow anyone hear anything about season ticket sales for this season, All I seen was that the club were likely to overtake last seasons which in and of itself isn't telling much as we never seem to know how many
  2. I wonder if Jack was carrying an injury, I can't remember anything he was involved in that could have fractured a knee cap in the game. Felt he was a bit slow to react to the last goal and that would probably explain why. I have always liked Jack McMillan. Think he puts in a shift and is always steady, was looking forward to him getting a chance this season but this will likely hamper his season. Didn't truly understand why he wasn't used more last season,to go from young player of the year to only a dozen games last season.
  3. Actually lost 4 in the groups, if going back to season 16-17 which is the first season the group stage was implemented, not lost a penalty shoot out with 4 draws. out of the 4 losses, 3 came in the 16-17 season and the game against Alloa this season. P24 W16 D4 L4
  4. Martindale mentioned several times last season about St Johnstone and the long diagonal ball, Do you think he is maybe looking to emulate their style. I believe a good manager looks at the players he has and plays to those players strengths, you don't play a formation and look for players to play out of position and adapt to it.
  5. Think he had a stop start season last year with a few injuries, not entirely written off for me. hope he steps up this coming season, he is still only 23 and we have him until 2023. a good season and maybe he could move on for a decent fee.
  6. Agreed, while having two decent keepers fighting it out would be great. Most successful teams have a level of consistency with the first team/starting 11. should only really make changes with injuries or a consistently poor performance.
  7. Yea the club have calculated how much we would lose if we had to play a European fixture, then offered a bonus to the players of half that amount if they failed to get to Europe
  8. This is exactly what I expected , Martindale is not adventurous enough in my opinion.more interested in not losing and look to sneak a goal. we get the ball and are more interested in playing the ball either to the side or back to hold on to possession. We need to get the ball forward quicker and, that's where we are dangerous.
  9. Livi are not the only Premiership club according to this that has not got a UEFA Licence, neither do St Mirren and they are in the Semi final. Should they go on and win the final, what then happens to the Europa League spot as it is not due to be reviewed until 2022. to be honest, and I hate to say it but I can't see us finishing 5th anyway, Hope I'm wrong.
  10. No doubt about it going to be tough, even to get a draw but we have already done it this season, last season and the season before. we can do it again. who knows maybe even go one better
  11. No doubt about it this is going to be tough game. If a new manager is announced in the next few days like I am hearing, then every Celtic player will playing to remain at the club. in saying that they have not been the same team as previous seasons and this could also put added pressure on them to perform, so we need to get in about them from the get go. Push Aberdeen all the way for 4th don't let up and go for it. Mon the Livi.
  12. hopefully there are no threads on the pitch at Easter Road or Hibs will be falling over all over the place.
  13. Would not like to see it, The likes of Rangers and Celtic, the majority of their team will be foreign. Even when a home grown player does break through into the 1st team it is rare they get a lot of game time, there are obviously exceptions. I have seen it where a young players breaks through, usually due to an injury, does well and then once the injured player, usually brought in for a few million and on a high wage, is fit again they are bounced back to the a place on the bench. in saying that, I think there is a lot of change coming to the league structure in the next few years. From what I am seeing a lot of the junior clubs are considering joining the senior set up, If the colt teams are to be added, and I can see it happening, they should be added as any club would be at the bottom rung. They should also be limited to league one, for any promotion, as I think it would dilute the promotion challenge for Premiership football.
  14. Could be a tough game, but I think Livi will want a wee bit of recompense for that game at the beginning of the season when we were absolutely honking. Thinking we will come back into form now that the top 6 is confirmed and looking at a 2-1 home win.
  15. It would be great if you could keep St Mirren off our tails, best of luck next week.
  16. Guthrie would only now go if an offer came in for him, and even then I think the club would not take it unless it was substantial, He and Devlin have had their 1 year extensions clause taken up by the club, hopefully though they look at extending that in the near future. With covid having a real bite at us Financially Davie said in the pre-match interview our player budget was based on us finishing 12th and he generally does not get anything more. Due to no crowds latter end of last season and all of this season we, like most other clubs have been hit quite hard. and it is likely the money for Dykes, the Cup Final appearance and finishing top 6 will help us but as a club I think we rely pretty heavily on gate money especially when the likes of Rangers, Celtic and Hibs come to the Tony Macaroni. 6 home games from those 3 clubs alone would generate a good 1 million from gates receipts alone. I think he said we will lose something like 55% turnover this year as there are no crowds. I know we want the club to be run sensibly, and for the most part it is at the moment, well looking from the outside in. but I can't help but think we should have a wee bit more ambition and rather than looking at budgets based on 12 should we look at more 9th or 10. Prizemoney difference is only a couple of hundred thousand, which to a club like ours is huge, but it could be the difference between holding onto players and them going for free. Don't get me wrong I think every club are going to be hit financially with covid, I have no idea what every clubs season ticket uptake was this season. but a few clubs have apparently reported sales were OK and on a par with the previous season, but the ongoing lockdown has had a massive effect financially on clubs I think.
  17. Another bizarre line up, changing things up again with the players but sticking with the same formation is starting to scream to me that we don't really know what we are doing. We are playing 1 man up front against what is essentially a 5 man defence. We will thump the ball up to Jet who has only ever performed well in the league games when out on the right wing. It almost smacks of desperation from Davie not sure about what to do so just changes personnel in the hope that it will work, or is that me being a little tough.
  18. Think it was more to do with what happened in the Dundee United game with Stryjek being dropped, It's a tough one for a keeper as in some occasions 1 mistake leading to a goal and you could be out for the long term and you rarely see that happening to an outfield player. Such is the curse of the goalkeeper. For me I would choose Stryjek, He is a Livi keeper and still young and can only get better with more games, and I don't see a huge difference in ability with either him or McCrorie. I would continue with Stryjek and let McCrorie go back to Rangers with no more Livi games under his belt, short of injury to Stryjek. Not sure what we would do going forward though, as I am hearing good things as well from Linlithgow about Brian Shwake , do we bring him back as deputy to Stryjek for next year or send him back out on loan somewhere for game time and bring someone else in as deputy. Or will we have another poll on whether to give Gary another season
  19. Wouldn't quite say F**k it but I would love to try a 3 man forward line, either 4 - 3 - 3 or as you have it 3 - 4 - 3. For the last few seasons we did not have many forwards/strikers, we do now so shake it up a little...or a lot. Just can't understand what has happened to us the last 6 games. I wonder if other teams have just got our measure now which is why I think we need to change it up.
  20. Your form at the end of last season, does this form include the 1-0 defeat to Hamilton at Ibrox, and the 2-1 defeat at Kilmarnock? Celtic were 13 points ahead of you when the league got stopped. you were not in the greatest of form you lost 2 and drew 1 of your last 5 League games last season. Celtic won 4 and drew 1. Deluded or what?
  21. Officially its 55, morally you could say its the first. I say officially as the SPFL, SFA, UEFA and FIFA have them as the same club. I know most people look upon them as corrupt, but they are still the official licensed bodies within Scotland, Europe and the World.
  22. Don't think so, Premier had exclusive rights. Don't think there was any highlights on BBC for the semi-finals either. best option will likely be the SPFL youtube channel a few days after.
  23. Shouldn't be saying anyone as there are still some incredible teams in the Europa league 32, that I think even teams in the last 32 of the Champions league would maybe not look forward to playing. As to Shaktar a quick look and I can confirm 11 Brazilians in their squad and as you said plenty with U17, u20 and U23 national team experience but none seem to make the step up. probably still fantastic plyers.
  24. Yea, certainly did not play well in either of those games, although we still had chances in front of goal especially in the Dundee united game. More worried that we conceded 5 in these 2 games when we had only conceded 5 in our 14 game unbeaten run. Looking to end that 2 games without a win run tomorrow.
  25. Need to clear the final from our heads, although easier said than done I am sure. A win will almost certainly cement a top 6 spot for us, lose this and I can see St Mirren overtaking us in 5th as they have a couple of games to play before our next one. Weird season not withstanding covid and no crowds but the majority of teams actually have more points away from home than at home. and with that I am looking for that to continue with a Livi win.
