Livi vs. Accies
Lothiangamer replied to EdinburghLivi's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Hoping this will be rescheduled for the Scottish cup dates if they are not given the go ahead at the beginning of March, Would hate to see them choosing Wednesday 24th February, not the best preparation for the final. Mid week 10th or 17th March possibly, even if the Scottish cup is restarted Stirling Albion are still to play Raith Rovers for the privilege of meeting Livi so the weekend of the 20th may still be free for us, but on checking may not be for Hamilton who have St Mirren in the Scottish Cup. I'd go for 10th or 17thMarch. Really can't see the Hibs game getting brought forward as its the last game before the split. -

Yep just a cynic, Martindale mentioned himself in a recent interview, he came into the club I think through a friend connected to the West Lothian Youth Foundation, a charitable organisation in West Lothian using football as a way to...(well have a look at it I am sure there are similar organisations around Scotland), who have links with the club, this friend told him that the club were struggling a bit and he signed up as a volunteer and done anything asked of him and still does, this seems to have increased as time went on as others have mentioned. Davie had a football background playing junior football and I believe a couple of trials with some premier clubs that didn't work out. I see him as one of those managers that never had a great career as a player but I can see him make his mark in football as a manger. -
Livingston v St Mirren League Cup Semi 24/1/21
Lothiangamer replied to Lex's topic in Domestic Cup Football
I have the utmost respect for any Scottish football fan that does not follow either of the old firm. To follow a team where to win a championship, a cup, a trophy will rarely happen is the mark of a true fan, to follow the old firm (not so much Rangers over the last 8 years or so) where success (cup league championship etc) is pretty much expected if not almost guaranteed every few years smacks of glory hunters, I don't necessarily blame kids as when at school its easy to fall into that trap of looking at and supporting the successful teams. For Livi, St Mirren, Hibs and St Johnstone fans this is what we really look forward to Semi finals and the chance to get to the final and possibly win a cup. I would wish you guys the best of luck, but hope Lady luck deserts you on Sunday and I have that feeling of Livi getting to the final. -

How about Mesut Ozil taking a £349,000.00 weekly pay cut to come to Livi instead of a £282,000.00 weekly pay cut to go to Fenerbahce -

Absolutely no chance. Not with some of the teams getting linked with him. -

Livingston v St Mirren League Cup Semi 24/1/21
Lothiangamer replied to Lex's topic in Domestic Cup Football
St Mirren have not won in 4 games 2 losses and 2 draws, not won since boxing day against Ross County, not scored many but not conceded many either could be a tight affair with a single goal winning it, ( Queue the 4-3 classic ) Livi being my choice, obviously, for the winning team. -
Livungstoppable vs Celtic - Wed 20th Jan 2021
Lothiangamer replied to crispy's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Weather looking ok for Wednesday night although a little chilly at around -2 or thereabouts, Happy for the game to go ahead. Celtic not got the best record at the Tony Macaroni even with a full squad, 3 draws and 1 defeat. Still to get a win since we came back up. No doubt will be a tough game and hoping the self isolating players are a wee bot out of sorts for the game, Going for a Livi win here. -

COVID-19 In Scottish Football
Lothiangamer replied to Lex's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
They need to get punished for it, A cold weather training camp is not an elite Sporting event. The exemption was put in place to allow teams to travel for European competition not to go on a jaunt because you cant deal with the Scottish weather and you want to top up your tan. -

Just realised if we do win against Aberdeen on Wednesday night, we go to Parkhead looking for 10 in a row -

and if we get through the Scottish cup game in January next round is 20 February 2021 so that would be 12 games and possibly 13 games n 2 months if we get the Bet Fred Final. -
And I am really looking forward to it. Great result for you guys tonight....buzzing for you.

Livingston vs Ross County - League Cup QF
Lothiangamer replied to ATLIS's topic in Domestic Cup Football
Davie on LFC live with a pre match interview only player not in the squad is Tiffoney (tight Hamstring) being replaced with Steve Lawson, I obviously don't know what happens in training but I would be surprised if we don't start the same 11 again. -

Not that long ago really for Ross County, in fact I think they well have been the last team in Scotland to win a major trophy out with Celtic. Hopefully not be getting farther than the Quarter final this time round -

It would be interesting to see if peoples choices a couple of weeks ago have changed now that we have started winning again. -
Livingston's Next Permanent Manager
Lothiangamer replied to Ludo*1's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
If this is about Martindale then no reluctance from the club to give him the job at all. I think he was offered it when Hoppy left but declined as it was not the right time for him, ( I think this has been said by both Martindale and John Ward). Now is the time, so he has thrown his hat in and said he wants it. He had said his past would likely get talked about if he was manager, but that doesn't matter now as it was already getting talked about. If he really wants the job I honestly think it's his. my hope and fear is he does that great a job and he gets offered something bigger he can't turn down and leaves. over his years at the club he has been brilliant. -

Would be happy enough if he stayed, but not too bothered if he goes, Better as a Centre Back and at times a bit woefull at left back. If he stays it would only be as cover anyway. -
Really can't believe how this season is turning out for us. Given we have thrown away leads in the last 10 minutes of games in the first half of the season, we seem to digging deep now for results …but that performance today from the entire Livi team was only bettered by the performance of Mark Gillespie in goal for Motherwell. I think we'll get a top 6 spot this season, and although I talk tongue in cheek about looking out the passport I would not put it past this team to get a 4th place finish this season.

Accies v The Lions
Lothiangamer replied to Cptn Hooch's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
My only concern here is our away form, although we have on most occasion played well, we can't seem to get the results, in saying that, think we should be too strong for Hamilton today as I think they have a number 1st team players out, whereas we have most of our injury worries behind us. With a bit of luck this will be the last time we play Hamilton this season as we go for a top 6 spot. 'Mon the Livi 3 points today. -

Falkirk tv have highlights. After viewing it Conor Sammon was offside for his goal. unless a Livi player was over by the corner flag. -
As it's the last home game of the season I would be disappointed if Kelly did not start the game.

No way will he be going to Barnsley, a League 1 side in England, if he did it would be about the money and I don't think that is all Kelly thinks about. At worse Kelly would go to a championship side down south. I also think he would want assurances he would come in to any club as first choice. I think he may sign an extension with us but still have a release clause, although the club should try and increase it from the £50,000.00 it currently is.
