    Does anyone think Trump

    (A) Actually believes the stuff hes saying about the election?

    (B) knows it all bullshit but doesn't give two effs..

    (C) started off knowing its bullshite but has convinced himself its the truth

In 2016 i was initially of the opinion that he was a very savvy media player who knew exactly what he was doing, and whose every word was calculated to the syllable - a bit like 2000's Mourinho galvanising his team by coming out with weird statements in press conferences. I thought the daft, OTT personality was a facade and that underneath it he was quite switched on to what he was doing. I still think this to an extent, and there are a few interesting articles on his media tactics, much of which he stole from Putin.

However i'm now starting to realise that this all might be nonsense and that he is in fact just thick as shite.

  2. Quite interestingly the New York Post seem to have turned on him after that, and i've seen a few clips from Fox News today of them starting to question him slightly. Folk on Twitter have pointed out that generally, once Murdoch realises someone is of no use to him he drops them pretty much immediately, which is maybe what's happening here.

  3. Fox news is fucking bonkers. It genuinely feels like a parody of what you'd imagine an American news channel would be like. The reporter just thanked someone for his service mid interview, to the cheers and woops of everyone in the background.  The next person interviewed said she knows Trump's winning cos God is with them and she 'just feels it'.

  4. Their inherent distrust and paranoia towards of the whole concept of government (despite having an almost cult level of fanaticism towards their leaders) plays a big part in their rejection of universal healthcare. They don't want or trust their governments to have control over their healthcare, there's not much point arguing with them about it as we come at it from a completely different starting point. To us it just seems completely bonkers and immoral, where as they (well those to the right anyway) almost have pity on us for not having the same 'freedom' they do and for living in a nanny state. Sky news have managed to find a few younger (white) trump voters who cite the economy as the reason for supporting him.

What exactly did Trump do apart from see continuations of trends that had been in place since sound 2011/12?

Deal with loads of American tourists through my work, a lot of them are genuinely convinced their economy is absolutely booming and that everything's the best it's been in decades, basically due to Trump's constant head in the sand type "things are great, we're doing great, we're creating so many jobs" type spiel.
