  1. I think the view that they have to get a certain demographic of folk onside if they want any change is quite telling imo, and one of the main reasons they are protesting. I think the whole point is that they are fed up of trying to get folk onside who clearly don't want to listen, so they are taking matters into their own hands. Also, why should the BLM movement seek the support of middle Englanders who have neither experienced racism in their lives and who have little to no understanding of it.

Personally i've learnt more about Scotland's role in the slave trade in the past week or two than i ever learnt in higher history or whatever. I've walked past statues for years without ever really noticing who they were, and i'd imagine a fair few others will be the same.

That gammon roasted rant is absolutely delicious thank you for sharing.

The full version is glorious. He makes a frothy mouthed incoherent rant about, amongst other things - Little Mix, believe it or not.

He's also calling on anyone who calls themselves a lad and a 'football lad' to get down and protect the statues next week, stirring stuff.

You just know that you're going to see some of these awful faux-Scots signs at the Glasgow and Edinburgh protests.  "Racists haud yer weesht" and all that pish.

''Trump's a pure head the ball'

Usually held by folk who would've looked down on those who spoke in a regional accent/slang at school.

It's simpler than that I think

Aye right enough. It's the same with the Lee Rigby thing. Terrorism is quite clearly already illegal, and his killers were given life in prison, so when you ask these folk what exactly it is they would be protesting it quickly becomes apparent what they actually mean.

  5. I see the right wing lot have started bringing up Lee Rigby and that awful Emily Jones case in some sort of whatabouterry/equivilence argument. Not just a small amount of folk making these arguments either, It's reinforcing that there are a dangerous amount of utter, utter thickos about. I'm not even sure why they feel they have to be opposed to the BLM movement, they've chosen to see it as more soft lefty virtue signalling and i don't really get it.  Probably comes from right wing shock jock opinion leaders feeling they have to be opposed to everything to keep themselves relevant, which then makes their followers adopt the same viewpoints.

  6. I see Emily Maitlis has been taken off of Newsnight temporarily after her comments last night. I understand the BBC's need to be impartial but she was just describing the public mood, which is pretty evident for most folk to see. Also i'm quite surprised she alone gets the blame when she's really just the presenter, i'd imagine she doesn't write her opening monologue/set up the autocue alone, or at least have to get it signed off before they go on air.

It's conspiracy theory patter to point out that our main media outlets are not reporting on the fact cases are continuing to fall across Europe despite restrictions being eased?

Over the last couple of weeks i've read quite a few articles on the BBC news site about how rates in France, Spain and Italy have been dropping quite considerably. It's also been spoken about on ITV news when i've watched. Where else should it be reported?

I knew I heard the moral high ground klaxon.

In any case, for someone who isn't a Tory, Cummings has a heck of a knack of working for/with them. Probably more a reflection of who he views as degenerate and able enough to further his own creepy ambitions.

He's also been very open about working with them in the past:

  9. From what i've seen locally, quite a lot of folk have been following the lockdown purely because the government have told them to, rather than understanding themselves that it was probably the right thing to do. A few weeks ago when there were rumours of lockdown being lifted i saw quite a lot of 'hope Boris says i can see my girlfriend'  type stuff, or folk praying for 'Boris' to let them go on holiday when it was clear to anyone with half a brain that we were miles off of stuff like that. So in that sense if the government's credibility has been damaged i can see a section of folk (albeit stupid folk) not taking the rules as seriously from here. Although as folk have said numpties like that were always likely to break the rules anyway, but i'd say they're much more likely to now.

  10. Can only assume that the reason folk like Peston and Laura K get to their positions is by being well connected to and having good access to the government - which only comes by being pally with them.  I wonder what they feel when they ask utter nonsense questions whilst lesser known journalists follow them and put them to shame.

Anyone heard from Laura Cuntssberg ?

Think she might've really fucked it here too. She committed right away when it looked like this would be another short lived story but she's misjudged it massively. If the public do turn on Boris she'll be lumped in with him. Hard to see how she can come out of this with any credibility at all, not that she had much left anyway.

  12. Can't help but feel It's all went too partisan for this to make a big enough difference to voting. Folk who vote for him aren't arsed about Johnson being a w****r - everyone knew that years ago. It's more a case of voting against stuff rather than voting for anything. Johnson/the Tories are positioned as being against the soft 'lefty PC brigade', as well as being against the forins and being passionately British. It's why there are still thousands of Union Jack emoji types defending them on social media, they could do literally anything at this point and still retain their core supporters. The only hope is that things like this will maybe change undecided voters, but i'm still not sure if that's enough to make a difference.
