  1. Considering his main PR advisor resigned i'd imagine he's went against pretty much all advice in agreeing to the interview.  Although you'd surely think that one of the stipulations of him agreeing to the interview would be some degree of editorial control. Find it hard to imagine that went out last night without someone from the royal team giving it a once over, but maybe not considering how much of a disaster it was

All he’s got to say is he never shagged her in America.  I pumped that lassie in the UK and it’s all legal an that over here.

Not if she was essentially made to do it. If he does admit he was part of their wee shagging circle then it's also pretty much admitting he would've been involved in the stuff with under agers too.

  3. Also a bit predictable that they always go straight to the Mark Walters case from 30 year ago, as if 'that stuff doesnt happen here now'  when there's been loads of recent examples (Sinclair, Diouf the first that spring to mind) that need mentioned. As others have said none of them are anywhere near clued up enough to have a serious conversation on stuff like this, they're just saying things because they think they have to. Similar to when Alan Brazil, Dean Saunders etc start talking about mental health on Talksport, it's clear none of them have a clue what they're on about and are just repeating cliches they've heard other folk say.

  4. What podcast episode was the open goal chat on? feel the podcast's still been pretty decent but obviously suffered a bit as a result of the TV show which was to be expected.  Tony bringing the old chaos factor back to the table has been enjoyable though. I remember an episode years ago with them talking about their favourite albums which turned into about 2 hours of daft stories. Tony going on mad tangents > fitba chat imo

  5. Big fan of both this and Open Goal, listened to the Terrace podcast for years too. Tbf to the Open Goal lads they're well aware of their standing and do regularly joke on the podcast about how clueless they are when it comes to analysis and how many facts they get wrong. It's generally dressing room banter type stuff which is what it's meant to be.

Think quite a lot of folk look down on Si Ferry for the 'wit were the nights oot like' type chat but most of his interviews are good to watch and having heard him as a guest on a few other podcasts there's a bit more to him than that stuff. I find he gets much more out of players than a lot of journalists would for obvious reasons, case in point being Andy Robertson who's as dull as dishwater in normal interviews yet was relaxed and told a few interesting stories on Open Goal.

Find a few parts of AVFTT a bit jarring but overall it's great and is definitely worth it's place, especially considering none of them had done TV before.

  6. Aye the whole thing is very much tongue in cheek i think - Noel's wife is Scottish (his in-laws are even from Bathgate funnily enough im led to believe) so he's just at the wind up as per.  Although i do think it was funnier in the past when he was slagging folk, Capaldi's just making him look like a bit of a grumpy old tit here

  7. The whole story is beyond mental, near enough certain that it's her running the account, the type of posts/phrasing on is identical to her old one. Also folk have pointed out that in  a couple of the old photoshopped photos from the last case, you can see in the reflection its him taking the photos of her and her supposed boyfriend which means they were together the whole time she was pretending to be with this other chap.  Regardless though some of the patter on twitter has been amusing :

Spoke to a guy from Hawick about the folk singer who shat on the fat woman’s face and apparently he has fucked off to Canada leaving his wife and children to pick up the pieces whilst the woman who he shat on is in a mental home for her own safety.

The thing about him fucking off is true, not too sure about the mental home thing as she's been seen about fairly recently. As for her getting her phone stolen at a party, as the story goes she was showing folk the videos at the party quite happily telling folk about it, she fell asleep and then someone sent them from her phone.  All a bit shady and an absolute nightmare for the kids to be honest. Things like that follow folk about forever in Hawick, as i'm sure is the same in any wee town

  9. Also felt with the new ones that they've been shoehorning wee things like isa giving folk a fright when she comes from behind them,  'two pints p***k' , Winston mentioning his leg and other wee famous things which probably only came up a handful of times in the original 6 series, into every episode of the new ones which made it all feel a bit pantomime with their wee catchphrases etc.  The last couple episodes have went back to just natural conversations without the constant punchlines etc which is much more of what it was in the original run, and made it feel more real.

  10. A pal of mine was at the audience screenings for the last two episodes and said the second last one is up there with the older ones, not sure if that was just the effect of being there and getting carried away with it but so far i've not got high hopes. At the point where i'm not even arsed about watching it now but might as well just to see how it ends

  11. Have said it in the past but i get the feeling that they completely misinterpreted why folk loved it so much, and are now just ramming it with catchphrases and cheap jokes. As others have said it's completely lost its realism, the patter and everyday situations were what made the older ones, you could quite easily have just been watching some real pensioners in the pub whereas now you're more aware its a sitcom. Dunno if i'm just nitpicking either but it seems they've completely cut out any background noise so it's basically just one character delivering a joke at a time, which along with the HD just makes it a bit weird.

The shitty punchlines are annoying and something that they never did until series 6 or 7. For so long, the funniest and most memorable lines from Still Game were always lines like “Shug, and two polis” and “hmmm hmmmm.. hawf two”, now they’re persevering with shite like “where your willy?!” and have done throughout series 7 and 8.

Still Game has always been and will always be one of my favourite ever programmes, but it’s time to call it a day now.

i'd say the same, a lot of the best bits from the earlier series were not obvious jokes, it's almost like they misinterpreted why folk loved it so much and just filled the new ones with slapstick shite

  13. It's getting to the point where i'm wishing they had never come back, they're just ripping the arse out of it a bit now.  I've seen every episode of the first 6 series a good 15 times but i'm struggling to think of a single episode from the newer ones i'd be bothered about seeing again

  14. A part of me feels a bit like a few of them have forgotten how to play the characters, a lot of OTT acting like they're playing caricatures of themselves. Also as others have said the storylines have taken a bit of a daft turn too, you could never imagine an episode like Thursdays' in one of the earlier series. That said there's always a few funny moments and its still  worth watching, but i doubt it'll ever get back to what it was.

I'm wondering if that rumoured smaller festival might be what T in the Park becomes, because I certainly can't see two majors like that being about up here. Doesn't seem to be an appetite for it.

Aye i definitely don't think couldn't have both T and TRNSMT in the same year, doubt they'd have the resources for it. Not sure DF's contact list could spread that far anyway.

Can't see them bringing it back unless it's back to Balado or at least away from Strathallan. Couple that with a few year's break and better headliners and it could do well.

I agree it's a shame though. I loved TITP but even comparing it to 5 years ago the atmosphere is so much worse.

I reckon after a couple years off to build appetite (folk are already getting nostalgic about it) and having it at Balado they'd almost certainly sell it out with a half decent line up

  16. It's getting to the point where it's looking like T's finished. Geoff Ellis kind of just brushed it off in an interview last week (the same on he confirmed TRNSMT 2018 in). Whilst folk on here might have started to hate T with the numpties kicking about etc, which is fair enough, it'd be shame for it to be gone forever.  Although it was a total shambles after they moved to Strathallan so it couldn't be there again, heard a few rumours that they'll return to Balado in 2019 once the 4 year contract with Strathallan is up but wouldn't be sure of it.

  17. Frightened Rabbit were fucking outstanding on Sunday, easily one of the best gigs i've ever been to. Really special band.

As for the 1975, the screaming would probably ruin it a bit but their lightshow/stage set is said to be one of the best in the business.

  18. Oasis were brilliant at the time, it's hard to describe to people who didn't really experience it just how important they were at the time. I still love their stuff now, although I'm not sure whether that's partly nostalgia or whether I actually think it's great. At the risk of trying to sound 'alternative', the songs I love are the less populist ones like Slide Away, Listen Up, Fade Away and loads of other B sides. The likes of Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger I'm almost immune to now that I've heard them so often, although they are still undeniably great songs.

Seen a few clips of Liam recently and he just comes across as tragic, trying to make out he isn't bothered but clearly desperately wants a reunion because he realises how crap he is on his own. His comments about Noel completely selling out are absolutely fair enough though, although ever since he visited Tony Blair at Downing Street his credibility as a 'man of the people' was finished.

I don't quite get all that selling out stuff, he's a 49 year old, married father of 3 who's been a millionaire for over 20 years, it's like Liam's expecting him to still cut about in an adidas tracksuit and pretend he's a working class lad in his 20s. Still think he's somewhat relatable mind
