  1. There was those ‘riots’ which grew arms and legs from the shooting of Mark Duggan in 2011 if you remember?

That’s true, but I’m not sure the arsonists and looters breaking into Currys, were motivated and directed by those who were disgruntled by parliament. Wasn’t it more about the Police and their relationship with the Afro-Caribbean community?
Guess you’re right though, it did spread very quickly!
  2. Thought Will Self was announced as a guest on last week's programme. I'm sure the parties have a say about which of their spokespeople accept the invitation.

And perhaps the reason why there hasn’t been a SENIOR Gov Minister on for Months?
  3. Fully aware of the French blockages. Think this one has gone past the usual. Are you honestly telling me that you believe there is no chance of any trouble on the streets if a second vote is called?

Just can’t see it, plenty of wailing and gnashing of teeth, but people rioting over something they are just completely fed up of hearing about? Nah,It’s just not the way anymore in this country. Perhaps a small minority already disenfranchised from society, who may just use it as an excuse to encourage violent dissent, but who would be roundly condemned and quickly sidelined.
The fuel protests and blockade back in 2000 are the nearest we’ve come to nationwide civil disorder in recent years.
  4. The polls are saying the same now as they did before the last referendum. I don't know how I could make that clearer, even to Granny.

Recall the latest NCSR poll (reported in the Independent) on a 2nd Vote, had the result reversed in favour of remain at 52/48. The complete disarray we have seen at Westminster over the last few weeks will surely have nudged that further apart, given that no-one seems to be satisfied with May’s proposed deal and most agreed that a ‘No deal’ is unthinkable. With time running out it seems to me that more and more people are edging towards the status quo. Who on earth wants to be worse off than we (The UK) are under the current arrangement as an EU member?
  5. Congratulations to Rangers for finally topping  Scottish football for the first time in their short history and after burning their way through millions of moneys some theirs and some not and also going through more players in 6 years than some clubs have done in 100 and when I include Ross County in that, that is saying something. What an achievement, damn what an achievement and back at the top of the  SPL where you belonged and now bigger and more noticeable than ever.

It is a great achievement and now Rangers can proudly claim they have topped Scottish football alongside the famous esteemed clubs that have played in all four divisions such as Hamilton Accies and Inverness CT. Yes you guys are now right up there right now.

To be fair, despite Caixinha blowing a few bob, we’ve had to do it the hard way through blood, sweat and tears. Both ICT and Hamilton had built an established pedigree amongst the top tier elite. We’ve had to rely on honest hard graft, no favours given, and starting from scratch.
    Remarkable really.
  6. There’s defo another back stabbing going to happen by Michael Gove. I don’t believe him for a second when he says that he backs Theresa May and her EU deal.

Asked today why he didn’t want to take up the reins as the Minister for Brexit, he replied it was because he was enjoying the post of Environment Minister SO much!! aye right, that’s why!
  7. Well that's the first 3 points on the board, Rab.  Towsy match but a deserved win - with us now topping the league.

You expect provincial* clubs on the slide to play out of their skins and Hearts fully did that.  Expect more of the same when we play Dolly on Wednesday - not to mention our two games vs Hibs.

Aye TK and two points up on the start I thought we’d make, settling for a draw today on our Dec schedule. We weren’t great today or last week against Livi, but if we keep racking the points up, think most of us are happy. Hopefully we’ll come out of the traps on Wednesday, looking forward to it.

  8. Just finished watching it on repeat. I had it bang level after 8 & 11, the 10-8 final round saw me giving it to Wilder. It only needed 3 rounds, where Fury thought making Wilder miss yet doing very little himself, for the decision to go against him 114-112, in my eyes.
I thought BT's commentary was very pro-Fury. Understandable being the British fighter, but the only thing I agreed with was Barry Jones comment that "Fury's recovery in the twelfth, was reminiscent of Calzaghe".
Only himself to blame, as in winning his rounds they were clearly in his favour. He should have walked away with the belts, but is lucky to have the chance of a rematch.
Will surely kybosh any matchup with Joshua, for his April date?

The rematch will hopefully give Joshua 1 perhaps 2 fights to further adjust and improve. On last night’s performance he’s certainly capable of taking care of Wilder; with Fury he’d just need to be incredibly patient and carefully outpoint him. Gotta admit, was impressed the way Fury made Wilder miss last night whilst getting his own jab off. He didn’t hold and spoil anywhere near as much as anticipated. Joshua would need to cope with his style and size without being reckless.
At least its put a bit of genuine interest back into the Division for the ordinary punter.
  9. As is Corbyn agreeing to this televised farce - they should simply have refused on the grounds that as things stand there is no pending public vote and therefore no compelling reason to stage it.

It would offer him the opportunity to really push for a 2nd vote, if he and his party were truly committed to reversing the decision. If not, then yes it’s a pointless exercise, in both leaders supporting the same position.
  10. A vote on a proposal when we have no information other than vague promises that have since been proven to be untrue is democratic.
A vote on a proposal now we know as much as the detail as we can is undemocratic.
I’m not sure what’s so difficult to understand.

Unfortunately millions don’t see it that way, if May’s deal is binned, hopefully enough of them will then see that only a second vote offers the progress (either way) that most ordinary punters are demanding.
  11. More importantly. How many of them would still vote leave?
You don't hear many owning up to it these days.
There may be a "shy leave" effect going on of course..........like "shy tory" or........"shy no"

Honestly believe a second vote would see a significant reduction supporting Leave both in Scotland and the rest of the U.K.
A modern democracy should be able to challenge and change its view(s).
  12. Fury has to be the most disappointed, he had that in the bag going into the 12th by at least a couple of rounds, even with the 10-8 in the 9th.
How he got back up from that though, jeezus, he was out!!
A rematch probably suits everyone including Joshua.

  13. After brexit day we have a transition period to 2020 correct?

So there will be a ~1 year of brexit reality before next SG elections, and another ~1 year before next UKG elections.

If I was a tory wanting to kill independence I would be borrowing huge amounts to make that 2020-2021 period not feel so bad to the ordinary punter.

So I'd say indyref2 is probably at least 2 years off and depends on the above failing and SNP majority post 2021

Agreed, Sturgeon has no need to rush into a 2nd Ref. She quietly knows that more Scots voted to leave the EU in 2016 than supported the SNP in the GE a year later. She can wait until the effects of Brexit start to kick in then pick up the converts, disgruntled with WM to secure the necessary majority. Its still a gamble, but the writings on the wall, the Tory hardliners just don’t see it and will have only themselves to blame.
